I am interested to know if anyone has any direct knowledge of Directbuy. I know it costs a lot to join. We are needing a new deck, floors and kitchen counters in the next few years.
I see a lot of negative on the internet but not all those people have used it. I would like to see if anyone as acutally used it.
Thanks

Any business that says, "pay a lot of money right now for the priviege of doing business with us, or never come back again," is suspect in my opinion.

Aside from that, based on what I have heard, you have not described enough projects to make it worth it. The only reports I have ever heard of it being worthwhile was for people who were totally re-doing several rooms in their house and were buying flooring, fixtures, appliances, cabinets, etc.

I haven't used them personally but I know people who have had nothing but bad things to say about this company, so personally I would avoid them.

My parents paid over $5,000.00n for their membership! I thought they were crazy. They are building a house and they feel like they have gotten the money out of the membership but they bought the entier kitchen from Direct Buy along with flooring, doors and windows for the entier house.

Since they keep changing the company name and corporate identity, I would stay away from them. So many complaints and constant state attorney investigations.

We have a relative who was very pleased with her membership, but she joined when she and her husband were acting as their own general contractor building a 3500sq ft house and she got most of the finish materials from them - cabinets, counters, plumbing fixtures, flooring, doors, windows, etc. I also know two couples who joined when doing fairly major remodels who didn't feel like it worked out to be worth the cost; one redid her kitchen and two baths, the other a small addition and finishing a basement into a mother-in-law type apartment.

I had went to there video presentation, thought it was a joke, there sales pitch afterwords consisted of if I choose not to join right now I could not come back for ten years made me start laughing at the 2 guys pushing it on us. Told them don't worry in ten years I can guarantee they would not see me.
I have since talked to a few people that did use them, all told me I made the right choice.
I'll add that We did remodel the whole house and what I saved by just talking to people I know, I can diffidently say there is no way I could have done better.

If you are thinking about buying into Direct Buy..... I can make you a wonderful offer on some great swamp land in Florida.

Dh and I looked into them before starting major renovations ... talking stripping rooms to the studs and starting over.....

They lost us before we walked into the door. We tried to set up an appointment. They would be over an hour drive away.....and we could not bring our DD to the club - ever!!!!! Now we live in an area with no family. There was no way I was paying a sitter just to go talk and get prices.

It's a lot of time and money and it's not easy to save the money. Here is what we found.

You have to haul anything you buy, wait weeks for anything you buy, you have to price shop anything you buy through books (not easy), you have to figure out the prices, and you have to do it all with a worthless set up.

We saved a bit of money but not enough to make it worth your time or energy. Basically RUN!!!

We have had a membership since 2007 and have saved thousands of dollars. We don't mind picking up our stuff, so that helps. We have fully furnished a large home and our Summer cottage. It is hard to provide building materials to some contractors, so that is something to consider. On our first (very nice) mattress purchase we saved half of the $4500 sign up fee. We feel that the furniture we have gotten hasn't saved us money but has gotten us much nicer, better quality stuff than we would get at regular stores, like the Brick. We are in Canada and I can say there are always children in the club.
