At least as of a couple of months ago when Dish rolled out the "free HD for life" promo all you had to do was call Direct TV and ask for them to waive the HD fee and they would for the next 2 years...as long as you were signed up for CC auto pay.
I made the call and they credited me in less than 5 minutes.
If you are out of contract, call and see what discounts they'll offer you.
That was actually my major complaint with DirTv. Yes, they give you a discount, but you have to call them when for whatever reason it does not show up on your bill credited. I hate playing games with these people.
Give me an accurate description of what the price will be and leave it alone. I can't tell you how many times in the years that we had it that I had to call them back because a credit that was supposed to have been applied, wasn't.
This last time when they promised me that my bill would be right around $65, it was for 1 month. When it came the following month at $93, I called to disconnect and send back the boxes. They apologized and promised it would be fixed, but in my mind, after countless calls, I had had it.
