Direct Benefits

the other gets a 100 and 50
But if the 100 is in one UY and the 50 is in a different UY, that means the child will have two memberships, even if both are titled the same, right? So would the child qualify for DVC-Y based on having 150 total in the child's name, or would having that 150 separated into two memberships mean the child did not qualify?

I missed that part. I thought the 100 and 50 would in the same UY but different from the 150 UY

If the 100 and 50 are different UYs, then my answer above is not correct!

Thanks for catching that!!

Yes, it was a confusing scenario!

Yep, i'm confused again. lol

So if a person has 150 direct points they have to be the same UY to qualify for benefits?

As I understand it, it's the membership, not the person that makes them qualified for benefits. A membership that holds the 150 direct points whether they are in different contracts or not will qualify, but by virtue of being under one membership, that means all those contracts are in the same UY. As soon as someone has a contract with a different UY, they also have a different membership. And if that membership doesn't have 150 direct points all under that membership then it won't be eligible.

So I think the advice to OP (or anyone in this situation) who currently has one 150 pt contract and one 50 pt is that if OP buys another 100 pts, OP should ensure they are in the same UY as the 50 pt contract if the point is to eventually hand down a 150 to one kid and 100 + 50 to another kid.

I think so, except if one of those contracts is already fully grandfathered.

Like one kid gets 100pts Oct UY and 50pts Dec UY -

but one of those is fully grandfathered either by minimum direct points purchased originally, or resale before certain date.

I’m not 100% certain either though 🤣

Yes, that advice is still solid. Regardless how I feel about it. lol

For sure, "grandfathered-in" by date of purchase is a whole other topic. ;)

It’s a membership that must have enough points. Since a different UY makes is a different membership, then yes, different UYs can’t be combined to get to 150.

I have three memberships….prior to buying VGF last year, I had two..one that was eligible for membership extras, and one that did not….

Now all three are because I added direct DVC points to the non qualified one and added a new UY with those direct points.

Yep, i get it... i was just still thinking that "accumulated" meant by one person, not one membership.
