I want to know if anyone thinks Dinosuar is scary for 10 year olds. I don't want my kids to freak out afer word.:earseek:

I think it depends on the child. My DS 7 was scared the first time he rode it, but after a couple of times he was okay with it. It is dark, there are flashing lights, and dinosaurs do pop out at you and it can be a bit scary. But you know your child best. I would say that most kids I have seen 7 and up do just fine.

It really depends on your childs tolerance for darkness and things that pop out at you. My neice is 11 and she handles this fine. But I have heard of some 10 year olds who get scared.

It can be quite intense at some times and there are periods of darness , roaring and a very nasty looking dino who jumps out at you.

My DD rode it at 5 and loved it, but she is definitely on the thrill-seeking side.

he wowed me this trip as he went on EVERYTHING, ToT, RnR, Mission Space, etc, while my 11yo & DH sat out a few. Really depends on the child!

IMHO, Dinosaur is too scary for 26-year-olds!! I am counting my lucky stars it will be down for rehab when I'm there in May. :)

we ended up giving our FP to other people because we find that this ride is so boring and predictable (even for DD, 5 yo)

My DD is so disappointed that she won't get to ride it in May while we're there. But, on the positive side, we may finally get to see Tarzan Rocks, which we've never had time to do before - if I can get her out of the Boneyard!! That's the only reason she goes to AK.

My 4yo was fine on Dinosaur. He didn't want to ride again, but didn't seem overly scared.

loved it. But it scared the pants off of this 34 year old! I swore I wouldn't ride it again but I let my DW talk me into it. UGH  Just as bad as before. But in the same car I was riding in a 6 year old was laughing and having a great time. :earseek: Go figure.

I was terrified!!! (I was 19 when I first rode)

But terrified in a fun way.

Give it a try, as long as your kids know that:
1. it is all fake
2. it is very loud and dark and things jump out at you
3. they can close their eyes and cover their ears if they are scared (I did! for about 75% of the ride, my eyes were closed and my hands were covering my ears)

The ride itself isn't all that thrilling; it's the psychological "fear factor" that freaks people out.

Like others who've posted, kids aren't the only ones you should be concerned about!!! :D

I love this ride, and go on it over and over, but sometimes it still freaks me out.

Best ride Disney has to offer. I loved it so much I ran right back around to the front and got on it again.

My DS loved it when he was 3 but was scared last November when he was 6. Go figure!

I loved this ride in 2000 and loved it even more in 2004, but I am now 60 years old.

My 12 yr old granddaughter loved it as did her 36 yr old mom and her 32 yr old aunt.

If I were 10 yrs old, I am not sure I could handle it. I can remember being 11 yrs old and seeing the movie "Them" and then not being able to go to sleep cause I spent the night looking out my bedroom window to see if those giant ants were coming to get me.

Determining what is real and what is not for a 10 year old is still a little up in the air, so, if in doubt, leave it up to that 10 year old to decide. Never force a child to go where he (she) does not want to go.

Isn't the ride wild and kind of violent in the way it tosses you around, like the Indy ride at Disneyland? I really can't wait to go on Dinosaur, but I'm worried about my darned back going out
:( . That scares me more than any old dinosaur could, but if it's so calm you can let go of the bar and cover your ears the whole way, then that would be cool! Well for little old me anyway ;) .

I have bad back and in many ocassions I have to be in the wheel chair. Seriously, this ride is not violent at all. BTMRR is about 10 times more violent than Dinosaur.

You are correct, the ride is the same sort of ride as Indy at Disneyland. It jerks you around somewhat, but honestly I felt the motion of the car much more in Indy than I did in Dinosaur. However, maybe that was because I was so freaked out by the Dinosaurs attacking that I completely ignored the motion of the vehicle! If you've been on Indy and had problems, then I wouldn't recommend Dinosaur. It's the same exact type of vehicle and motion.

I took my boys on it for the first time when they were 4.5 yo. It definately scared them. They refused to try a lot of things after that. It also scared my MIL. She was very annoyed with me for letting her ride it!

We just got back from WDW with my now 8 yo sons. They both said before we left that they didn't want to go on it again. However, when the time came they did. They kept their eyes closed for most of the ride. There were 3 20 somethings behind us and the girls screamed the whole ride.

Basically, the ride is VERY jerky. (You will lose anything you don't secure down. My MIL lost her eye glass case and her hat. They were able to retreive them before we left for home.) It is VERY dark and loud. It is VERY in your face. I definately think an 11 yo can handle it. For me it is a question of whether the child would want to. If they don't enjoy these things, there really isn't any reason to go on the ride. The whole purpose is to scare you.

Are there any drops in the ride? How fast does it go???

I have never been on it and I'm trying to decide.
