I get motion sickness (in the form of getting very dizzy) very easily. I stead clear of all roller coasters and very fast rides. I can't get a good handle on what Dinosaur entails. Is it roller coaster like? I watched some you tube videos, but it's so dark I can't really tell what it's like.

Ahhhh.

Dinosaur is, by far, the ROUGHEST indoor ride at WDW.
(Space Mtn. is right in there, but not for the ENTIRE ride!)

It's certainly "tied" for the absolute LOUDEST
bellowing sound effects.

And there is nothing that comes close in the category of
"Pitch-blackness...
then FULL-BRIGHT LIGHTS illuminating
GIANT DINOS with razor-sharp spiked teeth
LUNGING out straight AT YOU
with DEAFENING-ROAR sound effects."

Then,
more VIOLENT shaking,
jack-rabbit ACCELERATION,
sudden hard BRAKING...
and REPEAT.

All that said, I really ENJOY riding this attraction, and do so every trip.

Dinosaur is based on the same ride technology that is used on the Indiana Jones and the Temple of the Forbidden Eye ride at Disneyland.

Dinosaur is definitely a rough ride.

Second this!

However, Indiana Jones is way smoother than Dinosaur. I could ride Indy several times, but I can only handle Dinosaur once or twice during a trip. The car goes fast over uneven terrain and then comes to complete sudden stops. It's very jerky and disorienting.

Dinosaur is so jerky and disorienting I can't even tell you what I saw during it. I hated every moment of it.

What do you consider it tied to for loudest? I really like this attraction, too, but it seems to be the loudest I've come across.

Ellen's Energy Adventure.
The "Ding-Dang" (and fly-through animation sequence following it.)

My non stop talking 6 year old. Or a jet engine. Or I just really hate every loud, bone-jarring second of this ride.

Not like a roller coaster, but certainly throws you around -- way too rough for me. I get motion sickness. Trying to remember how bad this made me feel from that standpoint. I just remember I vowed never to ride it again.

lol! I still listen to the late, great Meandering Mouse Podcast, and even on there the time he does Dinosaur I have to brace myself and turn down the volume around the time the meteor hits. I don't understand why it has to be so loud...

This planet has a desperate need for quieter meteor hits.

I just took a VIP tour and the VIP guide said that dianasours and Indi are the same ride but different theming ( it was the aulminet day of thrills tour and we had a CM from cali that worked the ride some and she said after yeh your right) so same ride different theam

The ride I compare to riding a jeep over potholes in darkness.. you jerk more side to side. this was one ride I did think about I hope my bag doesnt fly out.
there is no spinning or C-Force.. which gets a lot of people sick.

If you have ever gotten sick riding a bumpy carriage, hayride, tractor, jeep etc.. then yes, you might have a problem.

Also if anyone has serious back issues, I can see this being maybe and issue.

I think that you might be misinterpreting the statement that they are "the same ride."
The track layouts are the same and the vehicles are the same, but the "experience" (the computer program that causes the vehicles to move and shake and jerk and lunge) is fully different between the two attractions.

Just to second / third whatever others have said. This ride jerks you around a lot. I think every ride now comes with a free whiplash evaluation. :-)

the loud doesn't bother me that much. But it sure does shake up the brain.

FWIW, I get motion sickness pretty bad and don't ride Space Mountain, Star Tours, Tea Cups, etc. I got nauseus on BTMR, 7DMT, and Splash Mountain. I have gone on Dinosaur the last two times we've gone to AK. I would describe it as dark, loud, and rough. If you have back problems you probably wouldn't want to go on it. My son complained about how loud it was, but simultaneously loves it for the dinos. It is really bumpy. But it didn't make me feel sick at all. Basically feels to me like riding in a big truck with bad suspension over lots of bumps through the dark. If being in the dark makes you motion sick though, it could make you motion sick, I guess.

I'm very prone to motion sickness, and I get sick on it. Different from the dizzy sensation I get on rides that are in front of a screen and make you feel like you're moving more than you are (Star Tours made me disorientated for the rest of the day). But I get that stop and go motion sickness on DINOSAUR that I get on long car rides in traffic.
Btw, they sell bracelets that are supposed to help motion sickness, I plan on trying them next trip. Nauzene also helps me immensely when it comes to the nausea that comes with motion sickness. They're chewable, with no side effects, and no drowsiness. (They don't help the dizziness though)
