I could use some input about this ride!

1. I get very carsick on Star Tours. Am I likely to get carsick on Dinosaur?

2. How likely are my DD 8 and DS 5 to get really scared on this ride? Do y'all think they would enjoy it? My daughter loves rollercoaster type rides, but neither has been on anything like Dinosaur. I don't want one ride to ruin their day!

Thanks!:thumbsup2

1. Not sure I'd risk it under those circumstances.

2. It's dark - very dark - and the dinosaurs pop out at you. How might they handle that?

1) Yes
2) Very scary. It is the scariest ride at WDW. A dinosaur chases you in the dark and tries to eat you.

I get carsick on everything. I won't even go near Star Tours. But Dinosaur doesn't bother me at all. It's one of my favorites.

As for your kids - hard to say. If she loves coasters, the ride part of Dinosaur will be easy. It's bumpy but it's not a coaster. However, it's also dark and dinosaurs jump out at you. There are videos of the ride on You Tube; you might want to take a look.

Yes, I agree with this 100%. I'm not risking it with my almost 7 year old this coming spring.

I don't think there is a single ride in all of Walt Disney World that can be considered "scary". Alien Encounter was a little scary.

1 - My DH is pretty sensitive to motion sickness. He definitely gets sick on Star Tours, but is fine on Dinosaur. He seems to be bothered most from being disoriented (EE and RNRR are the worst), but just jerking and swerving were ok - which is mostly what Dinosaur is. I'm sure it could cause motion sickness, but probably depends on what you're sensitive to.

2 - Lots of readers on the Dis report being scared on this ride. It depends on their personality, but it definitely has the potential to be frightening.

My dd1 is 9 and a scaredy cat. Cries on haunted mansion afraid of ursella. Not too into coasters. Will do barnstormer and btmrr

That being said she rides dinosaur. Closes her eyes at certain points but keeps asking to go back on it

My biggest problem on Dinosaur (speaking only for myself) is the noise on it. I have very sensitive hearing due to a congenital and degenerative ear problem, and I have to cover my ears almost the entire ride, which makes it difficult to hold on to the bar in front of me (it's also a "bumpy" ride). It's a fun ride, but it can be quite intense if little ones are noise-sensitive. Unfortunately it's hard to tell how little ones will take it until the ride is over. My oldest DD HATED Dinosaur for years after her first experience on it and wouldn't ride it again for another 3 or 4 trips. My youngest loved it the first time at about the same age as my oldest, and still does.

If you are prone to motion sickness, Dinosaur may not be the best thing to try, as others have mentioned.

I didn't get carsick on Dinosaur. It's very, very bumpy and not enjoyable at all. It's not a ride that I would repeat, ever, if I don't have to.

I didn't find Dinosaur to be frightening, but I also don't scare easily. I didn't take my 6 year old on it, and I don't intend to ask her if she wants to ride it this year. It's not that the dinosaurs are particularly scary...the ride itself is just unpleasantly LOUD. Between the jerking/jostling and the OMGOVERTHETOPLOUDNESS it's just an awful, awful ride.

I get very queasy on Star Tours, I can ride once per trip, and no more. EE get me also if I ride anywhere but in the front. I havent' had it too bad on Dinosaur though. I dont' recall feeling ill when I came off. I can't speak to mulitiple rides, as I can only take it once, because I just don't care for it much.
It is very dark, very loud and VERY rough! When they say hang on to your valuables on this ride, they mean it. My dd would have hated it when she was little, she was ok on it, probably as a tween.

Regarding the motion sickness, Star Tours does me in, but Dinosaur doesn't. Part of it is because Dinosaur is actually moving (like a car) opposed to simulating motion. Still, if you easily get motion sick, I would not risk it. If you do want to ride it, I would do it as the last thing for the day. At least that way, if you do get sick, you won't ruin the entire day.

As for scariness, I do think it's one of the more intense rides at WDW. It's dark, with lots of loud noises, and things popping out at you (with big shiny teeth and loud roars). It not like a coaster, which is pretty much fast motion, but not a lot of time to see what's going on. Dinosaur is meant to make you feel like you're going to be eaten by a dino at any moment.

Yes, the "scariest" thing about this ride is that it is extremely LOUD. Ear hurtingly loud. Some kids might find that to be frightening or at the very least unpleasant. Earplugs maybe? The ride itself does nto rock around all that much and I doubt it would make you physically sick.

I get motion sickness on most of the more "wild" rides. Definitely on Star Tours. I do get a little sick on Dinosaur but ride it once or twice each trip.
As far as scary goes. For those who don't like the dark, loud things in the dark and loud things coming at you out of the dark, this may cause some issues.

We all hate this ride. Very loud, very dark and scary for little kids. Also, very " jerky". Hate it.

Doesn't sound like the ride for you. It's much bumpier than Star Tours IMO. It's loud and scary. I love it but I won't be bringing my dd on it any time soon. She will be 3 on a couple weeks so it's not an issue now but if she were tall enough I still wouldn't. Too intense

It is rough, dark, and loud. As far as carsickness goes, I feel a little bit of it on Star Tours, but it's the 3D that causes it. I don't feel it at all on Dinosaur.

My kids were fine at those ages, but they are thrill seekers DH gets motion sick on Star tours but is fine on Dinosaur.

Took 8yoDS and 5yo DD on and they liked it. But like others have said the ride is very jerky.
