DINOSAUR questions.

we all really like this ride. Star tours makes me want to vomit, but this is ok for me. It is a bit scary but last year my 5 and 9 year olds loved it. They also love tower of terror though...so they don't scare easily.

My 12-year-old son loves the ride, but hates the loud noise level that accompanies it. So, he sits in the CTX car with his fingers in his ears! Personally, it adds a nice bit of humor for me! ;)

Like others have said, if you're prone to quesiness on rides like Star Tours, then Dinosaur is more of the same. And, if you're little ones scare easily, this will certainly scare them easily.

I would suggest instead that you try the two rides in Chester & Hester's area just next door to Dinosaur. Especially, Primeval-Whirl.:crazy2: If you can handle the motion and spinning on that, I would say Dinosaur is a piece of cake. The other ride is basically a "dumbo" type ride, but with a dino instead of a Dumbo!

Good luck!

Dinosaur is one of my fav rides. I refuse to even try Star tours or mission space because I get very motion sick. Dinosaur doesn't make me sick at all. However, it is the scariest ride in WDW. I know if I was a young child I would be traumatized, terrified. But only you know your kids. Do they get freaked out by moving displays like I did of animatronic penguins in a north pole scene at a xmas store when I was a kid? I couldnt even turn my back to them and take a picture at that age cuz I was scared shI*less....

My DS rode it when he was 6. He had done a lot of dark rides by that point, including Space Mountain and things like that.

He didn't like Dinosaur at all. It's dark, yeah, but if they've seen other dark rides by that point it's not that bad. In our experience, anyway.

The visual aspects of the animatronics didn't bother him, either. Nor were we aware of dinosaurs chasing us in the dark. Not afraid of anything we couldn't see, I mean. It's a frenetic ride, and we didn't even have time to think about something like that.

What he didn't like is that it is LOUD. The dinosaur at the climax of the ride is really really LOUD. I think the loudest thing I've heard on a ride.

Every kid is different, but that was our family's experience.

LOVE Dinosaur because it's the only action ride that DOESN'T make me sick! I cannot stomach EE, SM, ST - anything that spins or loops sideways. But Dinosaur is just bumpy and loud.
We didn't take the kids on it that young, but they loved it as teens. Totally up to their courage.

As mentioned its a very jerky ride especially towards the end and this is the one ride I always complain how loud it is ? Maybe I have sensitive hearing and don't know it but it almost makes this ride not fun for me at times.

DH get sick on Star Tours and Mission Space (wuss team) but rides this just fine.

I wouldn't say it's scary, but very dark & loud. It doesn't have the tense anticipation that Tower of Terror has. Whole dark & jerky, it's dinosaurs aren't any more realistic than Ellen's Energy Adventure... So if they're not scared of those then they could be ok :)

Dinosaur is dark, loud, and very jerky. The first time my youngest niece rode it she was 7 (and had already done Tower of Terror no problem). She was pretty white when we got off.:guilty:

Well....the big scary Dino at the end has been broken and in Disco Yeti mode for about 2 - 3 weeks now if that helps. Stay classy, Disney...stay classy! :thumbsup2

I almost threw up while on Star Tours, but was fine on Dinosaur.

I think it depends on your kids. My nephew ( 4 ) loved it, but I know it would really bother my daughter. Like PP said, maybe show them a video on You tube and see what they think of it.

I think you need to be cautious about your kids. As others have said, it is dark, very very loud and the dinosaurs are big and pop out at you in the darkness. Every kid is different, some hate it, my 4 year old boy loved it! My suggestion is that you ride Dinosaur first and see if it will work for your child.

I get very sick on Star Tours and I just can't ride it anymore, but I'm fine on Dinosaur.

The scariness all depends on the kid. When my DS first went on it when he was 5 it scared him. Now he's almost 13 and loves it. My DD first went on it when she was 4 and absolutely loved it. We rode it over and over again on our last trip because she enjoyed it so much.

Same with me. I've done all the heavy duty rides at Universal and everything at Disney. The only two that have ever made me queasy is Back to the Future at Universal and Star Tours at DHS. The funny thing is that both rides are very similar. Really no actual movement involved other than shaking you up, but the ride vehicle never travels anywhere. Mission space gives me a headache but not queasy.

I was 36 when I rode Dinosaur and I was terrified, but I am very easily startled. I will never ride it again.

Everything makes me seasick, even the carousel, but I'm ok on Dinosaur. I probably wouldn't chance it 2x's in a row, but I can definitely ride it and am fine afterwards. I think it's a super-duper "fun scary" ride.

Your kids may be a bit young though. I'd definitely find it on youtube and have them watch it a whole lot. then decide.

it's one of my fav rides because of all the craziness in it.

I am very prone to motion sickness and can't even look at the tea cups or carousel and I can ride Dinosaur without a problem.

It is very possible that your children will be frightened. My dd9 loves all rides - except that one. She has been riding ToT and RnRC since she was 5 and loves them. She came off of Dinosaur in tears the first time she rode it (she was 7) and refuses to ride it again.

I don't think there is a single ride in all of Walt Disney World that can be considered "scary". Alien Encounter was a little scary.

My daughter will beg to differ. I made her go on it on our first trip when she was 10 almost 11, she screamed in terror the entire time, I felt like the worst mother ever. My 8 year old was cracking up next to me over the dinosaurs. My oldest daughter is almost 23 now and still to this day will not go on Dinosaur.

I'm 42 and refuse to go on it!!

Nooooooo! I love Dinosaur and will be really disappointed if the big guy at the end isn't working for my November trip! :(

Same here. Didn't know they were having a problem with the ride.

So the Yeti first, now the dinosaur, what's next?
