Is this still going on at AK? Does anyone have personal experience with it? Like, how crowded does it get? Do the characters take pictures with people? Give autographs? THANKS!!!

Last September it was not crowded but will not pose for pictures or give autographs. I think KtP says they are not allowed. They did produce great photo ops dancing with my little ones. My 2 year old went from character to character having them hold his hands while he danced with them. There is not a set character list for each day but a general idea of who could be there. We had Br'er Fox, Br'er Bear, Rafiki, and Chip and Dale. Br'er Fox danced to What Does the Fox Say which was cute. It was my DS2 and DS4 favorite part of AK

Kenny the Pirate has a good run down of this by the way on his site

Probably one of the best Dance Parties we have seen. The characters were AWESOME start to finish and not the usual ones you meet anyway. You'll just have to shoot pics while they dance and have your kids move about so they are in the pictures with them.

My son had a great time with this last October, and even though he feels he's "too old" for this, I think WDW brings out the kid in even the coolest of teenagers! The characters have two sets and a CM told me the same characters come out both sets, so there is no need to hang around for both! I also suggest the Hoedown at MK in Frontierland...characters from Country Bear Jamboree, Splash Mountain and Clarabelle pick random guest to line dance with...it's sort of like a flash mob, but this site gives you the times: http://wdwent.com/

My daughter loves the dance party and its a must do for us every trip. As the other poster said, nor posed pictures but we always get plenty of pictures and video of her dancing with the characters. I've never found it too crowded since they do it later in the day and my daughter has always gotten to dance with all the characters. Here is a quick video from September:

I've been to the Dance Party many times and continue to catch new characters (I still haven't seen Timon or Br'er Rabbit). Here are pictures from our many visits during the last year:
