Dinning Plan-Have I missed something?

I am getting ready to make a room reservation for a trip next January at the 11th month window. By reading another thread it sounds like if I want the dining plan I must commit to it at this time and pay for it rjght away. I had understood that I could add this on later. Could someone please clarify this for me?

You can add it later as long as you add it at least 72 hours before your trip. The big difference is that you must pay for it when you add it.

You can add it up to 48 (or 72?) hours before arrival. I think what you are referring to in the other posts is that if you want to make an ADR that requires a pre-payment such as CRT or Hoop Dee Do, you will have to pre-pay unless you add the dining plan before you reserve it. If you pre-pay, you will get a refund at the restaurant if you later add the dining plan.

You can add the dining plan to your reservation up to 48hrs prior to your arrival. You now have to pay in full over the phone when you decide to call and add the dining plan. In the past you use to add the dining plan and pay at the front desk when you arrived for your vacation. You can still use disney rewards dollars and gift cards to pay for it, but you must pay for it when you add it to the reservation. Just make sure to do it 48hrs before you arrive or you cannot add it on.

For those who added on the dining plan before this rule went into effect can still pay when they arrive. I don't pay until I get there in March. Since I have to add on a night, I may just pay it all up front.

If you change your reservation by adding a night, you will have to pay at that point.
