I know this is not a Disney restaurant. I just booked Dinner with Shamu for Dec. 26, 2005. Has anyone had dinner there before? Also how is Sea World?

(still new to this board) :confused3

SeaWorld is wonderful, and you are going to love dinner with Shamu! We've done WDW and SeaWorld twice in the past 3 years -- it's great to mix up your WDW trip with some Seaworld time.

Like many WDW special events, Dinner with Shamu assigns your seating by the date you called -- so calling/reserving early is an advantage. The food is buffet -- decent, nothing remarkable -- but being able to sit RIGHT next to a pool with a killer whale is a wonderful experience. SeaWorld is a beautiful, beautiful park with lots to see and do. Do you have any specific questions? You're going to have a great time!

My DD princess: is 9 and I think she will have a great time. I just read that you can feed the dolphins fish. It's just $4.00 for 3 fish. I know I'll enjoy that.

We are going during Christmas and just thought maybe a few days away from WDW would be nice. I hear its really crowded that week.

Never been at Disney for Christmas (Dec 21-28)

CAN'T WAIT!!!! :hourglass

pirate: We were at Sea World a couple of weeks ago. It was great, as usual. It's one of my DW's favorite place. And my DS4 loves it too!! We didn't dine with Shamu, but I think we are going to try to do it next time. I'm sure he'll love it. :goodvibes

We did the "Dine with Shamu" in February 2005. Food was ok. The desserts were better in my opinion, than the dinner. The kids loved the shamu cookies. We enjoyed the show, but thought it was too short. Our son missed half of it just going to the restroom and waiting for the 2 people in there to exit so he could use it. Also a friend of ours that had been previously said we wouldn't get wet...we got soaked, as did the food we hadn't finished eating. Even a baby at the table next to us in his high chair got soaked (at least we could get up and run!). It was nice to experience once, but for the price we wont return unless they change the menu.

Hi
We had dinner with Shamu on our recent trip. It was on the 6th Oct so hopefully it will be a similar menu when you visit.
There were pitchers of coke and water on the table and other soft drinks and Bud beers were also offered (the beer was included in the price). The lines move down both sides but there were rolls and butter, 2 types of salad, rice, pasta, chicken, meatballs and tomato sauce, hot dogs, mac cheese, carrott & celery battons with dip, vegetables and the desserts were to die for. Different cakes, Shamu cookies (plain biscuits in chocolate), jelly ( I think you call it jello), some chocolate mouse thing with wiggly jelly worms inside (yuk), cookies. I thought it was very good for the price.
We were lucky as we were seated right in the middle by the water and thankfully didn't get wet. It was also not effected by the rain. Hope you have a great time.

Is the restaurant outside? and what's this getting wet business? :umbrella:
My DH :earboy2: never said anything about that!! Like how wet are we talking? I think we will still have fun :goodvibes

My son and i did this last October. We loved being so close to Shamu. The buffet was ok, long lines and you felt like you were missing the action outside when you were waiting. Drinks served to the table.
They held a Q and A session with the staff that was fun. There was a lot of people though so only 6/7 question were answered. Enjoyed it but proberly wouldn't do it again.
Next time we are going to try shark underwater grill :sunny:

We did Dine with Shamu on October 22. Food was okay - desserts were better. Includes all you can drink Busch beer for beer drinkers out there. It also includes Pepsi products (I'm a Coke drinker, so I wasn't happy about that). We had a seat right in front along the ropes & pool. It was pouring out just as we got into the restaurant. We didn't get wet from either the rain or the show. Shamu swam arund the whole time, but the demonstration was very short - 15 minutes & didn't involve any splashing - some minor jumps and a few slides up on the ledges around the pool for photo opportunities - don't know if the show had anything to do with the rain.

While it was wonderful to be that close to Shamu, I don't know if the length of show & the quality of food would make me do it again.

We Brits aren't used to this dessert! ;) Our server at Garden Grill in The Land, Epcot told our DD3 he had a special dessert just for her - needless to say, she was a bit miffed when he brought it out "Worms in Dirt!" :rotfl2:

The look on her face was priceless - digging out the jelly sweets helped but there was no way she was going to eat the muck! (a Scottish term for earth, in case you're wondering!) :rotfl:

Thanks for the info on the Dine with Shamu programme, my mum wanted to do this on her last trip, but didn't get round to it - maybe we can all do it on our next family trip to Sea World, though!
