Dinner/Hollywood Studios

We'll be in Disney 1/15 - 1/20 and we are looking for somewhere to have a TS meal when we go to HS. We are not necessarily looking to eat AT the park just somewhere relatively close maybe. We are staying at CBR and have 3 kids (7,6,3). We already have TSR for Chef Mickey, 1900 Park Fare, Akershus and 'Ohana on other nights. Any suggestions would be great!

take the boat from DHS to Beach Club and have dinner at Cape May! My boys love it, and only one of them eats seafood it is a nice break from the park.

My favorite is Brown Derby, but it is pricy if not on DP and takes 2TS if you are. We also like Mama Melrose. Not so fond of the others.

We enjoyed Mama Melrose. Did a Fantasmic! package there back in May. Everything we ordered was really good.

Inside DHS: 50s Prime Time Cafe. Food is great, antics are funny, atmosphere is awesome!

Resort nearby: Kouzzina at the Boardwalk! Delicious food (Mediterranean cuisine), excellent service, very nice atmosphere, and the Boardwalk is beautiful. They have some entertainers on the Boardwalk in the evening. Last time, we saw a magician, and a sword swallower.

If you have a park hopper, you could take the boat over to Epcot and eat in the World Showcase. We love Biergarten, San Angel Inn, and Chefs de France at Epcot.

A lot of people also recommend the Cape May Cafe at the Beach Club. We never made it to the table there, as DS6 had a reaction to breathing in the steam from the crab legs being steamed at the buffet...this was the first time he had such a reaction (allergic to shellfish, but prior to this, only from eating it or touching it). As soon as we went back out into the lobby, the reaction stopped...and thank goodness it wasn't a serious one. That was when we went to Kouzzina instead, as the manager of Cape May Cafe arranged for us to go to any other restaurant we wanted.

Hollywood Brown Derby is by far the best meal I have EVER had! That would be my #1 choice. It reminded me of the quality of food on cruise ships but even better in my opinion (and we have cruised Disney, Princess & Carnival). It is pricey but worth it.

At the Boardwalk there are many choices from the ESP Club and the Big River Grill through Kouzina to Flying Fish.

The Clam Back at the Cape May Cafe is good. The Yacht Club Galley at the Yacht Club has many good reviews as well.

If you are not on the DDP all of the restaurants at the Swan and Dolphin are also close by.

If you are not interested in the Fantasmic package, the 50's Prime time has something for everyone in food. It is home cooking but the entertainment of the waiters/waitresses (Mom and Dad) is great and your kids will love it, but if anyone is thin skinned just go along with the fun.

If you are interested in the Fantasmic package, we always do Hollywood and Vine because of the variety and HBD is expensive or cost 2 TS if you are on the DDP.

The resort suggestions are also good.

My favorite from that area is 50's PTC. With 3 children that age, I would prefer to not do another buffet since you already have some of those.

I think that 50's PTC and Sci Fi are just as good as anything in the Epcot resort area (that is 1TS credit on the dining plan) and I wouldn't bother traveling over to Cape May, Kouzzina, Beaches and Cream, etc. I'd just stay at DHS and eat at either 50's or Sci Fi.

The food is better at 50's but the atmosphere at Sci Fi is a lot of fun, a real novelty.

Although I enjoy Brown Derby and eat lunch there frequently, I'm not on the dining plan. Brown Derby is one of the worst values on the dining plan at WDW as the prices are only a bit more than the 1TS places and a lot less than the 2TS places (and it's a 2TS place).

Ahhh, eating at DHS. Even tougher than getting a good seat for Fantasmic. Whether it is CS or TS the best choice is to eat somewhere else whenever possible.

If stuck I would say Mama Melrose.
