Dinner at 6:10, Fantasmic at 7:30- Is there any way this will work?

We have ressies at Sci-Fi at 6:10. We are planning to arrive 15 minutes early. Is there any way we could eat and still get in line for Fantasmic by around 7:10? We are planning on eating only 1 course at Sci-Fi.
I know there are a lot of variables here- like Fantasmic being filled up, Sci-Fi not having a table ready at the time of our ressie...

Do you think there is any chance that we could pull this off?

Our choices are cancelling our ressie and doing a CS and ensuring plenty of time to get to Fantasmic, or trying to eat and run at Sci-Fi- then hoping to get in to Fantasmic- if we are too late we will just take advantage of the semi-empty park and ride Tot and RNR...
All the dinner packages are booked for the day I want.

I'd try to move your ressie. Honestly, I don't think there's any way to make it. You might get through dinner in time to get over to Fantasmic by the time it starts, but I seriously doubt there would be any room except maybe standing-room-only.

Move your ressie earlier, or try to sign up for the Fantasmic dinner package (though Sci-fi isn't an option then).

No ressies left for Sci-Fi, and no dinner packages left- (which sounds like the park will be busy- so you are probably right about Fantasmic filling up) but I have always walked right into Fantasmic 10-20 minutes prior to showtime and had no problem. I think I may cancel my ressie.

I have to agree with WDWguru... last time we were there (early Dec) we came in at Fantasmic at least 1 hour before and the reserve spot for the diner package was already half full... I think 15 min after that it was packed... so that means 45 min before the show, you still get places but I would not chance it.

I don't think it will work.

I had a 6:30p Sci-Fi ADR for the 8:00p showing and we were seated at least 1/2 hour late even though we arrived at least 20 minutes early for our ADR! It was crazy.

By the time we were done with our meal, it was 8:00p.

Thanks- I think I will try to work out another plan for dinner. When you left Sci-Fi- was the park pretty empty because everyone was in Fantasmic?

To tell you the truth I don't really remember. We were so tired and ready to go back to our room by then.

My guess though is it should be dead or dying because usually Fantasmic (if there is one showing) is shown at park closing.

Is there a 2nd Fantasmic that night?
I guess not- I checked the time here on the Dis and it is only showing 7:30 - this is an evening EMH in early October.

We always plan to eat our evening "meal" IN the Fantasmic! theater.
They have "baseball stadium"-type concession stands IN the theater.
We have a hot dog and a giant pretzel and some soft drinks in our seats as we wait. (There's even beer, sold strictly one-at-a-time, one-to-an-adult).
Just outside the theater entrance is the large "food court".
You are allowed to carry in food from there as well, but remember that its a LONG WAY up the sidewalk from there to the theater itself.

It takes about 10 full minutes (or more) to walk from Sci-Fi all the way into the Fantasmic! seating (they are about as far apart as any two places can BE in MGM), so that's got to add to the level of difficulty, for sure.

IMHO, I would certainly drop eating at Sci-Fi in favor of making sure of seeing Fantasmic!

That's a good idea.
I can't even change my ressie to lunch- Sci-Fi is really booked up. I guess we will have to hit Sci-Fi on our next trip.

my suggestion is to just show up for your ADR early... they may very well be able to seat you earlier... and if not, resort to plan B and eat at the theatre food court...

we had 7pm ADRs for another restaurant which was totally unavailable any other time that day and showed up at 5pm, asked nicely if we could be seated early and they were MORE THAN HAPPY to have us sit right down... typically a restaurant is more accommodating of early than late... and it's worth a try!
