OK, since its evidently clear that Yak & Yeti wil likely NOT be open when we're there in December, can anyone suggest another counter service dining option IN THE PARK? We have only ever dined at Tusker House previously, and since that location is NO LONGER counter service, I am at a loss.

Help please :confused3 ??????

We really enjoyed Flame Tree BBQ - and the adult portions were so big that DH and I were actually able to share a lunch (and he's a BIG eater!) with just an extra side and DD (8) had a kid's meal. We thought the food was really good, the outdoor seating lovely and we love the music - it's such a relaxing experience.

Yak & Yeti remains scheduled to open on Nov 14.
While there are several other CS options, I think Flaming Tree is now the clear favorite if you're OK with barbeque. They also have a smoked turkey sandwich that I haven't tried but suspect is fine.

I'd highly recommend taking the bus to AK Lodge and having a meal at Boma. Its a very quick ride an excellent post park meal. They give you a pager and I took our little one to the lookout and playground just past the pool while we waited for our table.

We arrived in the park after lunch and stayed through closing. We only had ice cream in the park. It was really good, but probably not the meal info you're after!...lol

AK is really lacking in the food department.

For CS right now there is Flametree, Restaurantosaurus and Pizzafari - that's it. There are places to grab single items like hot dogs, fries, fruit, turkey legs, muffins or pretzels - but there's only the 3 CS places.

I realize that the "open date" still is listed as 11/14, I just don't think that it's gonna happen, and we need a backup plan (in case I am right ;) )

I guess we're gonna try flame tree......at least they have a salad that I can choose from :woohoo:

I've always loved Pizzafari. I tried Tusker House, but I still prefer Pizzafari and their hot deli sandwich.

Flame tree is excellent, besides, do you really want to eat at someplace with the word "Yak" in the name? It's practicaly "Yak yet?"

I've heard that comment so many times I think I'm going to ..... :lmao: Yes, I'm perfectly comfortable eating at a place with the word "Yak" in the name. As far as I know it just means "gab". Is it supposed to also refer to regurgitation? If so, I've heard of vomit, barf, hurl, puke, spew, spit up, throw up, ralph, upchuck, lose lunch, and toss cookies. But never "yak" until this restaurant was announced.

A yak is an animal native to the Himalayas, which is also where the Yeti is supposedly from ;)

I haven't been following any other discussions about the Yak n Yeti, but I was curious as to why you think it won't be open on the November date. We're going towards in end of December and hoped it would be open by then.

Yes, and that's the same day pigs are scheduled to start flying.;)

I'll forgive that, but only because of the Grace Slick photo! :rotfl2:
