Dining reviews 11/25-12/6-Lots of pics, a little talk - Counter Service - The End!

I see the Charred Steak Strip, which looks amazing on your post, but I do not see it on the menu there at Le Cellier.

Is it always on the menu?

I believe the charred steak to which you are referring is from Flying Fish, not Le Cellier :)

I have never considered going to flying fish before. I have a list of places I thought would be good and I did not know a thing about this place. I will have to look it up after seeing that steak, it looks amazing!

Okay so i just looked at the flying fish menu and now I am asking myself WHY DID I NOT SEE THIS PLACE BEFORE, IT LOOKS AWESOME????

I am trying to pick lots of sign. rest. for our trip and I would have never even considered this place with out your review. And the kids menu looks great...my son loves fish and it is hard to find on some kids menus.

Thanks!!! :yay:

Flying Fish was my favorite new restaurant that I tried on my last trip. Of course the only other one I tried for the first time was Chef Mickey's, and as far as the food is concerned that really isn't a fair comparision since the food at FF blew the food at CM out of the water.

Please don't hate me, but I thought Chef Mickey's was the pits. :guilty:

The food was so average...nothing really yummy stood out to us. It was also so loud and with the kids running everywhere....yikes, we were all ready to leave. And I understand, it is a kid's place to eat...and we had our son there too...but he was not running into people and acting like a crazy person  .

Maybe we needed a more low key Mickey interaction.

Some of you have posted about Charc. breakfasts and they look better than the dinner we had at CM.

But FF will be on the list the next time we go. Your reviews really made a difference for us. They should pay you commission! :yay:

I'm ashamed to say we've never been to Chef Mickey's. It's just never been high on our to-do list. DS is 17 now, but even when he was younger, character meetings never excited him.:confused3

I like the commission idea...

Chef mickey gets a big thumbs down by us too- sorry I know we are in the minority but we found the food cold and just down right gross. - but ours was breakfast.

I am loving the reviews. I am traveling with smaller children though. time of the trip they will be 3,5,10 and 14.- dh and I . We are NOT on the dining plan. And I am dying to head to Flying fish. But do you think if we go early we will be ok with the kids? They LOVE calamari. Especially good calamari.

Anxiously awaiting spoodles because that was another of our favs pre-children. But we are staying at the Boardwalk and would love to go back to a few of our old favs.

So what do you think kids or no at either of these 2. Looking at the FF restaurant it seems very tight and very adults only. (I am hoping it was late. )

I'd definitely plan on taking the kids to both FF & Spoodles, I've seen lots of families with small ones at both places. I'd try to get an ADR at FF when they open (5:00 or 5:30). We were there at 8:00 and the crowd tends to be mostly adults at that time.

I hope to have Spoodles up later today or tomorrow, we loved it again!

I love your reviews!!!!!

Quick, simple and wonderful!!!

I already added many of your cocktails to my itinerary!!:drinking1

I am so looking forward to more, I have to make my ADR's on Thursday and I was looking for a few new spots.

Thanks again!!!:thanks:

Spoodles - What can I say, we just LOVE this place. We dined at Spoodles last year for the first time and thought it was one of the best meals we had the entire trip. I was concerned when I saw the menu change, but many of the new items sounded intriguing and many of our favorite items remained on the new menu. To start we had a pitcher of the best Sangria ever made -a blend of red wine, brandy, triple sec, orange juice and fruit. This stuff is to die for.....

to be continued......hey, at least I gave you a cocktail to enjoy!;)

OK, I see everyone is enjoying their sangria ;) onto the appetizers. The first thing that comes out is the bread with the olive tapenade dipping sauce, we're not big bread eaters but with the dipping sauce we loved it:

I said earlier that we were going to be trying mussels on our quest for the best and we hit the jackpot here. I could have eaten these babies all night, mussels and pork fat = :dance3: :yay: :woohoo: We both ordered the Steamed Mussels - with chorizo and saffron cream and I can honestly say this was the best mussel dish I've ever eaten:

For entrees DH decided on a new dish, the Pan-roasted Fillet of Red Snapper - with saffron Israeli couscous, chorizo, wilted greens and spicy tomato broth. This was a very light and delicious entree. DH subbed rice pilaf for the couscous:

I ordered what I almost ordered last year but didn't. I was in a pasta mood....Lemon-Garlic Shrimp Linguine - with preserved lemons, Italian parsley, shaved garlic and butter. This was very, very good. I would have liked more of the preserved lemons in it, but it was making me happy anyway. This was a huge bowl of pasta full of shrimp so we had leftovers for lunch the next day:

We were stuffed and ordered our desserts to go. We got the Chocolate Apricot Pistachio Cake and the White Chocolate Orange Cake as they were the only ones that would transport and stay good. They were both very good.

I've read some horrid reviews of Spoodles but our experiences (twice for dinner, once for breakfast) have been wonderful. The atmosphere, service and quality of food have always been top-notch. Our rating: :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

Will we return? You bet, we can't have a trip to WDW without Spoodles.;)

Well this is the last TS review that I have. I'll be doing some reviews of CS (which doesn't really excite me) and just giving our thoughts on the best & worst of the CS.

Hey Kat! Spoodles looks great. We went there last year and I didn't like my entree...I think they have since taken it off the menu...but...you know me and mussels...guess I gotta go back and try these since I loved your review of Le Cellier last year and took your que on the mussels there. :) ;)

Am I making sense? I think I have had too much wine and too much physical work today. We pulled down paneling and sheet rock for 4 hours today!!! I am off to bed....talk to you tomorrow.

Oh, that sangria is great! We went there on date night and had 2 pitchers then headed to Jellyrolls and were singing like crazy!

Of course you're making sense, at least to me, I'm sipping my wine too! Honestly Lauren, those mussels were to die for. Johnny & I both agreed they topped LeCellier's by a mile.:goodvibes

Spoodles looks yummy! I must say, I've never been there but it has my favorite name. SPOODLES, oodles, noodles, poodles, doodles...... I love the way it sounds. I'll have to get there one of these days.:goodvibes
