Okay here goes my first dining review. Just returned on Sunday the 23rd from a land (Polynesian)/sea (Disney Wonder) vacation. From reading these boards I learned to make my ADRs in advance and some suggestions on what and where to eat.Thank you everyone.
Cast of Eaters - DH, DS 15 and me. Our first time staying in Disney World.
Lunches during the week were on the go and not too often. The men in my life love hot dogs so they hit Caseys at the Magic Kingdom and once we ate at the Noodle Station. Okay meals.
Sat - Unplanned lunch at Konas. Seated within 10 minutes. DH had the Barbecued Pork Sandwich, No complaints. DS and myself had Island Chicken Sandwich. Tasty. Nice size sandwiches and the sweet potato chips were outrageous.
Dinner LOriginale (Italy) seated immediately in a smaller side room. Noisy because there were a few large groups but quieted down when they left. Read all the reviews about the Alfredo so I had to try it. Started with Pasta e Fagioli soup. Not bad. Different than I am use to but good. DS had Fritto Misto con Calamari and loved it. DH had Mozzarella alla Caprese. He liked it, but commented on how salty it was.I wasnt too hungry so I had the Fettuccine Alfredo appetizer as my meal. And DH had the dinner portion as his meal. We swear the servings where almost the same size, small! I thought the Alfredo was very dry. The taste was okay. DS had Lasagnette Pasticciate alla Modenese and enjoyed it. Nicest entree of the entire night. I cant remember what DS had for dessert, something light and fluffy. It was good though. Our server was good. During the meal musicians traveled around with an accordion and a singer.
Sun Easter breakfast- Kona's had to have the Tonga Toast and was it worth the wait. Excellent. DS also enjoyed it. DH had Big Kahuna nicely done. We had the same server as lunch the day before and we all laughed about her not going home.
Dinner Cape May Clam Bake Buffet Ive read mixed reviews but tried it anyway. We had to wait 15 minutes to be seated. Everything was excellent. DS was looking for lobster but settled for the shrimp (done various ways) and clams. DH loved everything. Our server was excellent and quite pleasant. Nice variety for seafood lovers or not.
Monday Biergarten (Germany)- seated within 10 minutes. My husband is of German descent so he knows decent German food and this was all good. Nice variety, even if you didnt like German food and plenty of it. We sat at a table for 8 with 3 other people who really didnt talk, their loss! Listened to some live musicians while eating and had a pleasant conversation with our server. The interior of the restaurant looks like a little village. Overall a nice choice.
Tuesday LeCellier (Canada) seated within 10 minutes Our server was excellent telling us a little bit of history and geography about Canada. I enjoyed that. Again had to have the cheddar cheese soup from all the reviews and it was excellent. We all had it. The bread was a nice assortment of Canadian regional bread sticks. Loved them all. DH had Filet Mignon and no complaints and cooked properly. DS had New York Strip Steak, again nicely done. I had Herb Crusted Prime Rib. It was good but a different cut of meat then we are use to in NY. Tasty and cooked medium rare as requested. The decor is nice and we had a corner table.
Wednesday- Sci-Fi I knew in advance not to expect anything great but I thought my DS would get a kick out of eating in a car at a drive-in. He had no idea where we were eating. He loved it. I had him order the Oreo milk shake with the lighted ice cube. Good choice.
For appetizers DS had the chili and DH and I had the BLT soup. So far so good. DS had ribs, DH the Reuben and I had the chicken breast sandwich. All were decent entrees, nothing spectacular. But I knew that ahead of time so I think that helped. Our server was the best so far. He kept kidding DS about his driving and gave him a speeding ticket (the bill).
Thursday Cape May character breakfast buffet DS is a Goofy fan so we had to go there to see him. Nice choice. Not too big and plenty of time with the characters. Food was plentiful and excellent variety. Good time was had by all! After breakfast we were off to the Disney Wonder for 3 days.
Overall good choices. Even though I didn't enjoy Italy I wouldn't cross it off my list. I would just change my choice next time.
Hope this helps someone.
