We were on the Dining Plan for our trip last week. We are DH 56, DS 28, Myself 55. From a cost perspective, it was well worth it. We ate where we wanted to and ordered what we wanted to eat, without worrying about "Maximizing" the plan. For the 3 of us for 7 nights we spent $735 on the Dining Plan. Our receipts came to a total of $1168.84, and we had 3 CS credits remaining.
For our TS meals we ate at:
Day 1: Rose & Crown Pub. It was our 36 Wedding Anniversary and I had noted it on the reservation. I requested a table on the patio for an Illuminations view. We waited about 30 minutes and were seated at a table on the upper level outside, we had a good, not perfect, view of Illuminations. I had the Lamb Barley soup to start - not what I expected but very good. I would recommend it. I had the steak and it was very good. DH and DS both had salads to start, which they enjoyed, and the Surf and Turf special. They both said it was very good. We had the Apple Crumble and Trifle for desert. When they served desert (after Illuminations) the servers all came out and sang "Love, Love, Love" by the Beatles for our Anniversary. We had a good night.
Day 2: Yachtsman Steakhouse. This was all of our biggest disappointment and the worst (though not a bad meal) meal of our trip. We all felt the food was "overdone". What I mean is, the horseradish mashed potatoes had way too much horseradish. The Stilton Blue Cheese sauce on my steak was overpowering, as was the Garlic Butter sauce on my DH Steak. The meat cuts were good, and cooked as requested and they could have stood on their own. The service was great. We just didn't care for this meal, unfortunately, as I really looked forward to it.
Day 3: Teppanyaki at Japan. This was DH and DS favorite meal of the week. We all had salad for an appetizer (we are not Shusi fans, so not having Sushi available as an appetizer was okay for us) and we all had Steak and Scallop combo. The chef was very entertaining, and we enjoyed our meal. I brought leftovers "home" for b'fast! This is the only restaurant where the server was very specific with us about what we could (and thereby could not) order, Still a nice evening.
Day 4: We love lunch at Morrocco and this is what we did today. We were not disappointed! DH and DS had the Berber Feast, which includes the appy and they loved it. I had the Lamb Soup and the Beef Shis kee bab (sp -sorry!). It was wonderful, It was quiet at lunch but we were entertained by a Belly Dancer and enjoyed it very much. My desert, was to die for, the single best thing I ate all week.
We did the Food and Wine Fest "noshing" for dinner.
Day 5: We tried 'Ohana for the first time and enjoyed it very much. Lots of good food, wonderful service from Cousin Wanda, and a view of Wishes to end our meal. This was my favorite meal of the week.
The wonton chips were good - no Shrimp Wontons, The wings and salad were great. I liked the potatoes a lot, but DH and DS wouldn't touch them. They said the veggies were really good, I didn't have any. The meats were good - the turkey a bit dry - and plentiful refills offered. A fun night.
Day 6: Le Cellier. A nice dinner. DH had the Shrimp Cocktail and the Prime Rib, DS had a Caesar Salad and the 14 oz Strip Steak, and I had the Caesar Salad and Prime Rib. I was a little disappointed in the Prime Rib - not the cut of meat I expected. It was good nontheless. DH and DS were delighted. Our server was wonderful, and we had a late (8:30) ADR. The Rasberry Sorbet was to die for! A nice last TS meal.
Day 7: We "noshed" the Food & Wine Festival. A great extra was that we were able to use our snack credits for the F & W food samplings! Cool!
Our CS meals included: Peco Bill's - Very Good. Tusker House - Very Good, Columbia Harbor House - Great (Everyone's favorite). Backlot Express - Good, Cantina de San Angel - Okay - DH and DS liked it better than I did.
Thanks for all the reviews here prior to my trip to help in my decision making!!!
If I can answer any questions, ask away!

Thanks Hopefully!

Sounds like you had a wonderful time.

How was your experience at Backlot Express? The studios are sadly lacking in good counter service choices!

Thanks,
penny

PennyPlanner, the Backlot Express was just okay. I agree completely that the Studios are sadly lacking in good CS and we ended up at the Backlot Express by default - it was one place that no one didn't want to eat at.
I had chicken strip meal - chicken strips and french fries. It included 3 chicken strips, they were okay and nice and hot. DH and DS had hamburgers which they said were just okay, not as good as at Peco Bill's . Desert offerings were choclate pudding, which was excellent - the best part of my meal, and a strawberry parfait which both DH and DS enjoyed!
Hope this helps.

Thanks for your review. I was happy to hear you had a good experience at Teppanyaki, they seem to have slipped a bit lately.

Thanks for your fine reviews!

Stilton cheese is by nature somewhat overpowering -- that just means it's authentic. It may not have been a good choice for the sauce.

Enjoyed reading your reviews ~ Thanx for posting.
