Dining plan problems with more than one room?

I was wondering if anyone has had any problems using the dining plan at table service restaurants when there is more than one hotel room worth of dining credits in the mix? For our next trip we'll have 3 different rooms (one with my parents, one with DH, my sister, and me and one with my MIL and brother). We all want to be on the dining plan but feel like it may get confusing when it comes time to pay since 3 people will be on one card, 2 people on another and 2 more people on a third room card. Does anyone have experience with this? Would it just be easier to skip the dining plan?

It's very easy to use the Dining Plan like this. Each KTTW card will list how many people are on the Dining Plan. It will say something like "2 A" which means 2 adults. You can't purchase more meals than are allocated on that card. So when the server asks if you are on the Dining Plan, just mention that yes you are but you have 3 separate rooms. They know what to do.

You will give the server a KTTW card from each room and she will bring 3 receipts. No different than if you were doing separate checks.

Thanks for clearing that up. Does it cause more drama to add 2 more people into the mix who are not on the dining plan? My DH's grandparents live in Florida and are going to surprise him at his birthday dinner so they will only be eating with us once.

Thanks for asking this.

I was also wondering if you had to ask for separate checks when you first sit down.

We will be traveling with my parents and staying in two rooms. If my parents take the kids to a meal without us, they will just get a separate check for them and one for the kids and "pay" for the kids with one of the kid's KTTW, correct?

Yes, PLEASE ask for separate checks when your server first approaches. If you can sit more or less in groups by room, that's even better; but if not, just tell the server which Guests go with which card (for your own record-keeping purposes) and which Guests are on no dining plan.

It's a LOT more efficient to run four checks for one table from the beginning than to redo everything after the [single original] check is presented.

:thumbsup2 Not to mention how much time you will waste while the server has to find a manager to authorise the re-do of all the ringing up.

No problem. If you have 2 diners that will be paying OOP, just let the server know who they are.

We had 2 rooms w/ 2 different ressie #s in '08 & '09, and in all 15 or so sit down meals we ate, we never had a problem. Most times the server would ask if we were on the dinning plan soon after we sat down. We always order a few things not included in the plan (appys, salads, soups) and pay OP for those & the extra was always charged to the correct room as well.
