dining plan for free??

i was reading on another post about dining plan -- and several of u said u got the dining plan for free?? we are planing a trip in dec and staying at AKL and we were planing on buying the dining plan -- whats the deal with everyone getting it for free?? thanks in advance

There was an offer last year to get it for free. There has not been one since then, and probably won't be. But you never can tell.

And the offer was only during hurricane season....August through the beginning of October.

I took advantage of this offer. It was awesome. Saved us lots of money and we walked around stuffed.

But I doubt it will be offered again anytime soon. I really doubt it helped WDW's bottom line like straight-up room discounts do for them.

We got it free last september...so excited. We had booked MYW plus dining but when the offer came out they just refunded us the dining portion. Dining plan is definately worth it if you are going to eat any TS meals...but even better when it's free!

It actually started at the very END of August last year (after the vast majority of kids were back at school) and it went through October 4. We missed it by 10 days because we checked in on Oct. 14. I do think it helped boost attendance during high hurricane season. I guess we'll see if they felt like it boosted it enough to do it again!

I agree that they probably wont offer it again although you never can tell with the terrible hurricane seasons we have been having. I also think it was a ploy to get alot of people interested and hooked on the dining plan!

Can someone tell me if you can buy the dining plan if you're staying at the Dolphin and do you need to be on some kind of package plan?

You either need to purchase a Disney package, or be a DVC member.

You can't get it at the Dolphin. You have to be at a Disney owned hotel, and it does have to be part of a package. Room, at least one day ticket per person and dining. Or if you are DVC, you can purchase the dining plan.

Hey it's back this year!!!! I'm going in September and got DDP for free!!!! I think it is only for the end of August until the end of September
