Dining plan and Cinderella's castle

How does the dining plan work with booking ADR's for say Cinderella's Castle. I understand you have to pre pay this restaurant. How does this work? Do you have to book your ADR and prepay and then they reimburse you? We are thinking of booking soon but weren't going to add the dining plan - we might only add it if there is free dining that week. Otherwise we are thinking with the way we may eat this trip it might be better to pay OOP and do fewer TS. But I would hate to pay OOP and have them hold my money until August and then be refunded at that point. DH might rethinking booking it if that is the case.

If you don't have a dining plan when you book you will have to prepay. Then you can get a credit at the restaurant and use your DDP credits instead.

But if you do have the DP then you can just book it on that and they don't charge you? Might be worth adding it then since we will most likely end up with it and it doesn't cost anything to add it now only at final payment if they don't offer free dining.

Yes if you have the DDP already and you associate your reservation with your dining reservations, it will not charge you. I think you will still have to give a credit card to hold it though - but no charge at that time.

When I reserved online, I wanted to make sure I got the time I wanted, so I pre-paid with a credit card. Then I called them and gave them my reservation info for the dining plan, and they credited me. If you just call them and give them your reservation info first, they will just take down your credit card # to guarantee your spot, and won't charge you.
