Dining plan and AAA discounts

I've been going back and forth over whether we should get the dining plan. It is my understanding that if you have a room booked through CRO with a AAA discount that if you add dining you will lose the room discount. But I'm not sure whether you can book a package through AAA and get a discounted room with dining plan???

Also, are the number of meals based on the number of nights at your resort, and can you use them on checkout day? And (last question) is it possible to get 7 day hopper non-expiration with your package if only staying 4 nights?

Thanks for all your help. Based on some of the things I've read here, I would like to get these answers first hand instead of from a AAA agent who may or may not be a disney expert.

Hi TammyC! The only way you can get the AAA discounted room AND the dining package is through AAA.

Hopefully some dining plan and ticket experts can answer your other questions!

Yes, you get the meal plan for each night of your stay. So, if you are staying 6 nights/7 days you will receive 6 Counter Service, 6 Table Service and 6 Snacks per person. For 2 Adults on a 6 night/7day stay, it will be stored on your room key as 12 TS, 12 CS and 12 Snacks. You can use them however you see fit so that you have enough left over for the last day (we certainly did)..They expire at midnight on the check out day.
And yes, you can purchase a 7 day non-expiring pass if you are staying 4 nights.
