I'm wondering if I made a trip only a couple of months in advance will I be able to do sit down restaurants. I apologize for not knowing have never been to Disney before.

One other question if I have the deluxe dining plan or premium plan if a restaurant is more than one credit do you have to use the 2 credits or is it covered under the one credit because you have the better dining plan.

Thank you Alex

You can, but before you buy a plan, you should go online and see what is available. If you eat at off times or go to resorts, you'll have better luck.

As to the credits, DxDDP uses the same credits as the regular DDP, so if the restaurant requires 2, it will use 2. As for the Premium plan, I think it is different, but I'm not completely sure.

You will probably be able to find some table service restaurants available, but it might not be restaurants or times that you want. It will also depend on when you are planning to go - during busier times like midsummer, Christmas, Thanksgiving or Spring break it will be even more difficult. Before you invest in an expensive dining plan it is best to see if you can book the restaurants you want.

The DxDDP will require 2 dining credits per person for signature meals or dinner shows. The Premium Plan is much more expensive per night and includes many recreation and sports activities as well as dining. Restaurants, including signatures, only require one dining credit per person on the Premium Plan.

You should start reading about the Deluxe Dining Plan vs. the Regular Dining Plan over at the Disney website.

Deluxe Dining Plan is 3 Table Service Credits per day. You have to read the whole brochure it has a lot of details, talks about snack credits, breakfast entitlements vs lunch/dinner entitlements. Tells you which places are 1 TS, which are 2 TS. This plan does give you an appetizer course with lunch or dinner.

Regular Dining Plan is 1 Table Service and 1 Quick Service per day. And this dining plan doesn't give you an appetizer course with your lunch or dinner.

After I've done lots and lots of research about the dining plan, I came to realize that for me it only works out when I really plan everything ahead of time, pick the restaurants in advance, and already have an idea about what I'd order, checking the menus online in advance. We don't use it for 2 TS meals, and we make sure to use the dining plan at places that are more pricey.

There is still time to book in advance, there are many restaurants that have openings, you should think about booking your reservations now instead of waiting until later. If you want to go to Be Our Guest you may have trouble getting a reservation. I've had to book close to 5 months in advance for that one.

I have actually booked dining before booking my trip. I think that before purchasing any plan you need to understand the plan provisions, know what your family likes to eat, and how much time your family will dedicate (or not dedicate) to dining.

For you, especially if you are considering the DxDDP, please look at menus, and check the times that restaurants you woudl like to book are available. There is nothing worse than paying for an expensive plan and then finding out you were not able to get the value it is intended to give.

I am much like the PP. I plan our meals and our park days and always am sure to book restaurants that will at least be comparable to the plan value.

Where do I find the brochure and how can I see what restaurants cost what credits

Ithink it is online on the WDW website.

One good resource I use is www.allears.net

This site maintains all the info needed to make an informed decision in regards to restaurants, menu choices, prices and the number of credits each meal requires.

I like that the restaurants are grouped by location and that you can see the updated menu (it is usually pretty accurate) with the prices. You know where each restaurant is located because f the way they re grouped so deciding where to eat if you are not familiar with the WDW locations is easier.

The menus allow you to see the entrees usually offered at all of the restaurants as well as the cost of each item.

I would think that you shouldn't have a problem booking as long as you are flexible with where you eat and when. We didn't plan our NYE trip until the end of October (so roughly 2 months out) this is one of the busiest times of the year and we were able to find a TS reservations for each day of our trip. The only difficult night was on NYE otherwise we didn't have much trouble. If there is a particular place that you want just stalk the reservations because something might open up.

If your trip is tentative and you might only be booking your trip a couple months out I believe that you can still book TS reservations 180 days out, even without needing a resort reservation. there is a cancellation time frame that if you don't cancel and you don't show up then you are charged so just be aware of that. Also to be considerate of others, when or if you know your trip is not going to happen - cancel your reservations.
