Dining for one...where?

The morning after the Princess 5k (in Epcot), my family will have left town to set up camp at the Daytona 500. I have from 5k finish/park opening until about 2 pm to kill time by myself before picking up someone at the airport.

I have never done WDW alone. Where would you book a lunch ADR for a special treat?

If you aren't planning to enter a park, I'd suggest GF Cafe, Sanaa, or Captain's Grille. They are fairly quiet and calm and will give you time to re-energize before you drive to the airport.

Tokyo Dining is also a good choice if you're going into Epcot. Great views from the window tables.

I would have lunch wherever you want to eat, I travel solo often since many of my friends and family don't "Get" Disney and I make reservations and eat at all kinds of restaurants. I usually read a book or watch a movie on my iphone or ipad mini.

Is there someplace that you have been wanting to try, but it doesn't appeal to the others that you normally travel with?

I would seize the opportunity to try someplace that you always wanted to try

Anywhere I wanted. being alone doesn't knock anything available off the list. How much time do you have between finishing and leaving for the airport? Are you returning with someone that you might want a place that special for you and not do it solo? what's your budget like?

I would probably favor disney springs. It's generally easy to walk in anywhere for lunch and I can wait until I'm there to decide what type of food I want. The quick service options are very different so if you find yourself not really ready for a big sit down lunch you can adjust with plentiful options.

I used to travel alone all the time all over the world and would just go wherever I wanted. Every restaurant will have a small table for 1 or 2 and you can eat wherever you want and try new things that others around you may not want to try. I actually prefer traveling and eating alone (well I did before marriage and kids).

I am going solo to WDW this coming April and I have made dining for 1 reservation's at many signature and regular table service restaurants within the parks and at the many resorts for this upcoming trip. I love going solo as I can eat where I want to and do what I want whenever:) Enjoy your solo day :)

Outside of the parks:

-The Wave at the Contemporary, great food & drinks, nice service, good variety
-Boma at Akl, tons of different styles of food, and buffet bonus, you can eat as much as you want!
-Captain's Grill at Yacht Club- awesome choices, not too pricey, nice and relaxing and never really busy

In the parks:
-Via Napoli at Epcot, a great way to stuff yourself with pizza or pasta carbs post race!
-Mama Melrose at DHS: same as above but service and quality isn't as good!

I would do Sci Fi Diner as a "hitchhiker" (meaning you still have an ADR but sit with others in the car but usually in the backseat), kick back order a burger and some onion rings and watch old B movie trailers. Grab a shake and totally relax.

Thanks everyone.

In park vs out doesn't matter so much, as I have an AP and a vehicle. I need to leave Disney property about 2 pm to get to the airport.

I'm the one who makes the family ADRs, so we pretty much always eat where I want to eat. I know everything is single friendly, I am more looking for WWYD type opinions. :)

After the Princess 10K, we have plans for a late breakfast at Captain's Grille. They have a great breakfast menu and the chocolate waffles are excellent.

You'll be finished with the 5K early - well before 8:00a - do you have breakfast plans?

I've really enjoyed Sanaa and Kona Cafe solo. Via Napoli and Rose and Crown weren't too bad solo either. I, personally, don't really like buffets solo because I typically have a backpack with me (dSLR camera) and I don't like to leave that unattended, but I also don't like to carry it with me anytime I go to the buffet. I also worry that if I get up for seconds, they might think I left. So if I'm not doing CS, I go with a legitimate TS place.

I'm not a huge breakfast person, so no. We had Akershus booked as a family, but that was before everyone else decided to head to Daytona the day before. I was thinking I'd bring something in my car to eat and snooze in my car a bit before park opening. Running a 5k just doesn't burn enough calories to justify a big breakfast and a big lunch for me, so I'll probably eat a protein bar and allocate my calories for lunch. :)
