I need the "Dining Discounts for Dummies" explanation since I have never looked into it and have noticed some deals that others are talking aobut, but I don't quite "get it".

We are going Nov 16/17 to Nov 28th and travelling with 3 adults and a 2 year old for 3 days and 8 adults and 2- 2 year old for 8 days, seeing my family and then seeing my hubby's family also. Not sure if we are staying on site yet for part of it. Am looking into Cypress Pointe Grandvillas for one week of the trip since it is cheaper to stay off site.

I am considering options of how to make the trip more affordable, but we like food : )

1. Can anyone explain the AK voucher/deal?

2. Are there any dining discounts with getting an AP? If so, how helpful is it, and does only one person have to have the card and then if I had a card do I have to pay for the bill or can someone else?

3. What is the dining deal if you stay on site? Is it only for resort food or the parks also? Any specials for those who are off site?

4. Any other ideas for making food a better deal?

I plan on sharing portions and bringing snacks and if we stay off site we will have breakfast there, but that's all my ideas about it so far!

Basically the two big options are:

1) Magic Your Way dining plan. Adults $35, kids $10 per night of stay. Available only as part of a package, staying at WDW resorts. Includes 1 counter service, 1 snack (soda, ice cream, etc) and 1 full service or buffet per day. All persons in the room MUST be on the plan, and must have identical type park tickets purchased as part of the package. Includes server gratuity.

2) Disney Dining Experience: Available ONLY to FL Residents or ALL AP holders. Cost $75 for Floridians, $50 for AP holders. Good for up to 10 people on same check. 20% discount on virtually all table service/buffet meals in parks and resorts. Also good at Counter Service meals in AK and WDW resorts that don't offer a full service restaurant. Discount is good for "adult" beverages, too.

Other Options:

AP discount: (no Dining Experience option)...AP holders are eligible for 10% off at some, but not all, full service lunches...mostly at EPCOT and during weekdays only. It is also valid at some DtD locations.

AK Vouchers: Good for 1 meal (beverage, & entree of choice), 1 additonal beverage and 1 ice cream or popcorn. Cost about $12 for adults. Unsure of cost for children, but they must order from the childs menus at counter areas.

Thanks, very helpful! Is there a list of all the restaurants included with the plans?

I know there's a list somewhere on disneyworld.com for the dining package.
