Dining choices - care to comment?

It's me, DH, & 3 kids (10,7,& 5) staying at BC so I tried to make alot at EPCOT or BC.

8/20 - Arrival - Le Cellier (D)

8/21 - MK - Chef Mickey's (D)

8/22 - MGM - Pizza Planet (L), 50's Prime Time (D)

8/23 - Pool day - Relax at resort- Beaches & Cream (L), Chef's de France (D)

8/24 - AK - Boma (D)

8/25 - MK - GF Adventures in cooking for the kiddies, GF breakfast for
DH & I, Crystal Palace (D)

8/26 - EP - Biergarten (D)

8/27 - Pool, relax day - Cape May (B) Beaches & Cream (D)

8/28 - EP - 1900 Park Fare at GF(D) or Cape May (D)

8/29 - MK - Kona (D)

We have to pay for some OOP because we have more than 10 sit downs but that's o.k. since we'd like to dine at all of them. I used touring plans website for best park days but there were some contridictions on the official Disney site. I used the July hours as an estimate. Got in 4 character meals for the kids...What'cha think???

Le Cellier is great - a must do for us - and the kids can go and paint masks whilst waiting for their food, which they seem to love.

Chef Mickey's - excellent - i prefer breakfast, but really whatever fits in with your touring plans is best.

Never tried pizza planet - didn't like prime time, but am trying it again, as it has had great reviews recently.

Beaches and Cream - the desserts are to die for. Chef's De France - i loved it here - the food is great.

I've not tried Donalds and Boma or adventures in cooking but it sounds fun.

Crystal Palace - i didn't rate the food here last time at lunch and found it a bit grubby and crowded, but my DD 8 loved it - and the dessert was lovely.

Biergarten - one of the places that dissappointed me, but it has been a few years since i tried it.

I love 1900 park fare for dinner - it's quite noisy but loved the food and character interaction.

Kona Cafe - i do like the food there, but don't find the theming as nice as in Ohana - you may want to try Ohana instead - it's a great family restaurant.

Ok, this is just my opinion...I would skip Pizza Planet. It was very gross, the only thing that tasted ok was the chocolate chip cookie and the soda. The salad was wilted really bad and my daughter says the pizza at pizza planet is gross. We went to Pinocchios in MK and the pizza there was yummy. I'm not sure where will have lunch at MGM, we might pay oop for one maybe at sci-fi..

I'd suggest shifting Biergarten to a late lunch and paying out of pocket, for good value

rumor has it that there will be a character breakfast at Hollywood & Vine by the time your trip rolls around... i would suggest switching pizza planet lunch to a H&V "brunch" (go for the latest seating available)... otherwise your line up looks great to me

I actually haven't been to a number of them myself, but I hear Donald's isn't all that great. We've enjoyed other character meals, but I hear that one is so-so. With so many character meals, you might want to skip that one. the quick service places at AK are really good (at least for lunch). We eat our share of upscale meals, but sometimes you'll want to eat quickly and lightly so you can get on the rides. Who wants to run around after a big buffet meal?

Boma's great. It's great for kids too, because they can stick with foods they know, or taste new foods without having to commit to large portions. Be certain to walk around the AKL resort after/before dinner. Also, make certain you know how to get back to your resort, if it will be late. At the least, you could take a bus to DD (or to what ever park is still open) , and transfer - but that could take about an hour in total. You might want to use the car that day, if you have one, or just pay for a taxi back(if it's late and you're really tired.)
Pizza planet is a fun little quick eat. Not the best pizza ever, but better than the food court offerings at MGM, IMHO, and unique. The food court feels like a mall food court to me, but we enjoy eating at PP. But then, I like eating outside.

If 8/23 is a pool day, why are you dining in a park? Why not eat at BC, and/or explore the Boardwalk that night? You can even go over to the Swan/Dolphin. That could easily take up an entire evening. You won't get the best view of the fireworks from there, but you might just find a few surprises to make up for it.

It aslo doesn't sound like you've factored in the EMH hours. If you are staying on property, you really ought to consider taking advantage of them.
On 8/28, you list an Epcot day, but a meal near the MK. That's fine, just realize it will take time to do that, quite a bit of time if you go strickly by Disney transportation. I'm not knocking the bus system - it's great - but it is not as effective when you try to get from one resort to another resort. If you plan on driving from BC to the GF, also realize there isn't a lot of parking there, so it's not a good idea to leave your car there for the day. You could have one person dirve the car to the BC after the meal, and everyone else could head to the park via monorail. Otherwise, you could take the bus from BC to the MK, then hop on the resort monorail, but that would take a bit of time. After the meal though everyone could head to Epcot together,and you'd all be at the same end of the park. It would be easier to eat at Cape May that morning. I've never actaully eaten there, but it looks like a great place, and it's very popular. The time we did eat at BC, it was the Galley place, which was very nice and quiet. We have very much enjoyed walking around the Boardwalk area. It might be a little out of your way, but we often stay at the Swan, so we often hit the Bwk Bakery in the am - or even in the pm.

You also haven't included a meal around the WS as part of your plan. It's one of our favorite meals, and it's generally inexpensive. You stop in each country, and share one or two dishes. Since your stopping at QS places, each stop can be quick. You can even eat and walk (say, a soft pretzel in Germany, a cookie at Norway.) Mmmm...the Kringra La Bakery....Mmmmm.
If you enter at the back entrance to Epcot, start early - consider fish and Chips in GB (if the line isn't too long), a pastry in France (they also have a few savory dishes in the bakery), a beverage in Italy, a Moroccan dish or two, a few Japanese dishes, a pretzel in Germany, or a bratwurst/saurkraut combo, finish at the Norway bakery, or continue on to the Mexican eatery. If you do this for dinner, eventually you'll want to grab a spot for Illuminations! Waht a great way to round out an evening! You can also hop on the two rides as you go around -Norway and Mexico.

Wow thanks for all the responses!!..you have all pointed out some good ideas...I think we will do Biergarten for lunch & also add in the H&V meal when it becomes available. Also good point about hanging at the boardwalk...We will be on the dining plan so we can't do too many snacks at WS. Also we avoid all EMH except EPCOT am. Yep we have park hopper tickets....

So glad you guys thought of things I didn't.

Keep them coming if anyone has any more ideas.

Overall I think you have excellent choices (we ate at a lot of them in Dec).

Just an FYI - Grand Adventures in Cooking is a lot of fun (my DD did it twice) but your 10yo may find it a little childish.

I would suggest making an early Donald's ADR. We had a later one in Dec and they seemed to be having a hard time keeping up with the crowds. They ran out of pates on the buffet and some of the food (both corrected later). The service and characters were excellent.

I suggest an early lunch at Beaches N Cream or expect a very long wait (it was over 1 1/2 hours in Dec.). It is so much fun but is so small.

I would suggest Cape May for Breakfast and 1900 PF for dinner. The characters in Beach Attire is so cute and I personally think 1900 PF is the best "princess" meal of the three.

We did Kona in 2004 and loved it for Breakfast - most of the meals were large enough to share.

We ate at Crystal Palace for character lunch with Pooh and friends. Outstanding buffet.
We did Donald's Breakfastorous for breakfast. Again outstanding.
The other thing we did I didn't see on your list was the Hoop-de-Doo Musical Revue at Fort Wilderness. This was by far my favorite. It's a little pricy at $50 for adults and $25 for kids but was definitely worth it. It was all-you-can-eat chicken and ribs with corn-on-the-cob, baked beans, and salad. The show was great and the kids loved it. They have three times every night and a lot of people from the other resorts were there. Have FUN!!

By the way; we ate at Pizza Planet for lunch one day. Everyone liked it.

We aren't doing HDDR this time..we've been twice before so we are looking for something new.

I like Pizza Planet & I asked my kids if they would want to go to the H&V meal or PP & they picked..you guessed it..Pizza Planet! It's one of there favorites..(I guess cause its in the movie?)

I second the dislike of Pizza Planet . . not so good!! I would try Backlot Express. BUT I would definitley stick with Prime Time!!

I wouold also switch out Rose and Crown for Alfredos!!!

We LOVED Pizza Planet our pizza was really good and we got HUGE chocolate chip cookies for our dessert and they were still hot ...MMMMM

We like 1900 Park Fare a lot as well...strawberry soup is to die for!!

We are doing Cape May and Kona on our next trip!!

My DD went to Boma with the grandparents on our last trip and she said the drinks tasted really gross..(she was 4 then though) not sure what she drank, but she LOVED the couscous..which really amazed me. FIL didn't like the place at all...LOL

Le Cellier is one of our favorites in WDW. Beaches & Creme is our favorite place for a burger at WDW.

I would like to be the third that comments on the dislike of Pizza Planet. It actually made my husband sick for the rest of the day we had to cut our day short and head back to the resort. I personally would skip it, it isn't very good in my opinion (honestly it is just like a Boboli pizza crust with some toppings on it). Just my opinion, I'm still trying to find a CS for our MGM day.

Le Cellier - GREAT. We went twice!

Boma - GREAT. We went 2x for supper and once for breakfast.

Biergarten - my parents went, who used to live in Germany, and weren't impressed. Wasn't very authentic, but it wasn't bad...just not great.
