Dining at Disney questions

Originally we wanted to do Cinderella's Castle and BOG for meals. There are 8 of us with only one being a Disney kid. After looking at the menus I'm considering just doing a dessert at BOG (we haven't been yet) and I'm really on the fence as to Cinderella. I'm afraid the picky eaters just won't eat and terribly overwhelmed at spending that much on a meal that reviews say is average at best. Any opinions for those that have eaten there and are they truly worth the money in food department? Or are you strictly paying for atmosphere? I've got a budget set aside for in park dining and I would like to get the best experience possible.

BOG - Go for lunch, and you can order dessert and still enjoy the atmosphere and check everything out. Dinner is pricey but we enjoyed our meal and service was spot on.

CRT - We had dinner there once is was a great experience and being inside the castle is really fun. Service was kinda off, not terrible just off a bit. As far as food went it was just fair, not inedible, but not on the level for the price. We had breakfast once and it was a while back and I personally enjoyed it better, the service was really good, and the princess spent a fair amount of time at the tables.

I agree with the previous post, go to BOG for lunch (even share a meal there as they are big) and CRT is much better for breakfast than dinner.

We've eaten at BOG for both lunch and dinner and enjoyed both. Those meals I would say were worth the price (as much as any Disney meal could be).

My husband and I ate at CRT on an adults-only trip (having only sons, I figured it was my only chance!). We did not think it was worth the price. The atmosphere was nice, but the food was not great. My husband's food was overdone, and mine was just average.

Unless someone in your group has their heart set on eating in the Castle, I would skip CRT. We had breakfast there in 2014 and while it was fun for DD I'm not in any rush to do it again. Princess interaction was good, but the food was just average. (For a Princess character meal, we prefer Akershus in Epcot, although they've done away with the cold buffet which was the best part of the breakfast.)

Dinner at BOG is well worth the price, IMO. The food was delicious, and getting to meet the Beast afterwards was really fun. The atmosphere is also a lot nicer at dinner than at lunch. If you want one special meal, I would spring for BOG dinner. You can also share meals here to keep the cost down since its a la carte, or if you have kids on the younger end of "Disney adult" they would probably be satisfied with kids meals. (Assuming you are paying OOP and not on a dining plan.)

IMO you are paying for the atmosphere only.

There is nothing there worth the cost. First let me say, I have all boys in my family. the are college students and one was a h.s. all are over 6 ft.
So we get to BOG and they looked at their plates and were seriously pissed. LOL a fancy donut, one egg with a teaspoon of spinach. the pastry platter was funny. only 2 of the pastries were actually normal size pastries the other two were midget size.

total for 4 people, almost 100 bucks. for breakfast.

Part of the problem is that we usually go right outside of DTD to the crossroads shopping plaza. there is an Ihop and a Perkins Pancakes. lol, yes it does not have the atmosphere but for my sons, they got a pancake platter with 2 eggs, 2 breakfast meats and oj.

If you want to do BOG I would go with lunch. I heard it's much better.

Thanks everyone. We've decided to skip the castle and do dinner at BOG. Now I have to get a reservation. My 17 year old really wants to meet the beast and I'm thinking a couple of us can actually share entrees if we want.
I was grateful that the only ones that want to see princesses don't seem to care where we see them. So probably going to head over to Epcot for AH

I'm a picky eater and there's nothing on the BOG menu that I'd eat.

BOG is great if you have 'kids' who are 10+ but still prefer to eat kids meals. We did a late night dinner (10pm in Dec) at BOG for 8 of us and it was one of our favorite experiences. The kids were 8-14 yo and all ordered kids meals. They had excellent steak and seafood, and even my picky eater was happy with the grilled cheese. Adults had soups and we all enjoyed desserts, and it came out to about $100. Afterwards, we were invited to explore the different rooms of the castle and took some great pictures with the Beast. Absolutely wonderful experience and well worth what we paid!

I have done CRT a couple times and recommend it only to those seeking the more intimate princess experience for a young girl. I much prefer the food and princess interaction at Akershus. My son was bored to tears at CRT, but he enjoyed the parade and lively atmosphere at Akershus.
