Dining Advice from campers

Some quick background. We (DH, DW, DD7, DD4) come down to visit the mouse at least once a year and always stay on property (Pop Century is our favorite), so we are snagged hook line and sinker by the disney magic. My parents (DGP, DGM) have never stayed on property and are skeptical mainly because of the cost, but this trip we have convinced them to give it a shot.

We (DH, DW, DD7 and DD4) are arriving in Orlando Tuesday morning, and my parents will be driving the RV down from North Georgia and are planning on getting in around 5 or 6 pm on Tuesday. Well after their long day of driving the last thing I want to do is rush them to get the RV settled so we can cook them dinner.

After reading some of the negative posts here about TE restaurant I figured I would ask other long time FW'ers for some advice on places to eat at any resort for a decent meal at a good value kinda close to the Fort. I know I am asking for the trifecta here, but all suggestions are welcome. TYIA.

When we come in and get set up, we usually don't feel like cooking either, so one of our favorite places to go a grab a quick bite is over at Port Orleans Riverside. Its a food court set-up with a grill that serves the regular burger/fries, a pizza station that makes fresh pizzas, a pasta bar (DW's favorite) that will make fresh pasta dishes with ingredients that you specify, a carving station, and a fresh salad area that makes up salads with again things you specify. Everyone in our group can usually find something to their liking....

As far as prices go, in Disney speak, its relatively inexpensive. The atmosphere is nice and laid back.

Its close to the campground too. Exit the Fort, take a left, go to the first intersection, take a right and Port Orleans Riverside is up on the left....

If you are looking for non-disney prices go to Mapquest for FW and you can select resturants on 535 which is just a short drive when you go out the back way. We enjoy a lot of the DW resturants but we also go offsite sometimes for a break and we take Vista Blvd. the backway to 535 which is home to many, many resturants. By the way, we enjoy Trail Inn unless its changed a lot..

Will you have a car? There are some nice, relatively inexpensive (by Disney standards), easy to get into food locations at DTD. Many recommend Earl of Sandwich, and we like Wolfgang Puck Express in the Marketplace.

If you're looking for a sit-down meal, there are other TS locations there as well. We used to love Wolfgang Puck's near the theatre (almost always a walk in, good food), but when we were there in December we found the service to be really shoddy, and the food quality to have gone down a bit.

You can get there by bus as well from FW, but it's super quick and easy by car.

I would highly recommend the Pepper Market at Coronado Springs if you have a car, especially if you have lots of different food preferences amongst your group. Pepper Market has the variety of a huge buffet, but you only pay for what you get, and the quality is quite good.

I love trail's end. I've never had a bad meal there.

You could always order a large pizza (20$). I'm not a fan of the new side salads that are premade. They used to let you go make your own salad at the bar. And it was only a couple dollars more for each salad. But go figure.

W.L. is just a boat ride away, or if you're on the orange route, just stay on the bus past the settlement and it'll take you to W.L.
You've got a couple of options, roaring forks snacks. Burgers, flat bread pizza, chicken strips, huge cold meat sandwhiches, soups. or whispering canyon cafe. Although that might be a bit loud for just traveling 10hrs. (we drive from orlando to blairsville, GA about once a year).
And if you do have a car, port orleans is really nice. That's one of our favorite resort places to eat at.
