If i rebook a ding rate, are the credits available for 1 year from the original travel date or 1 year from booking time? I have a small credit $30 from booking in sept 2007 for a trip in Jan 08. What date will the credit expiry, Aug 07, or Jan 08,.

edit- i tried to book a new flight to see if i put in my expiry date, and the expiry date shows Aug 28th, 2008 even though we did not book the flight til sept 07 for Jan 08? Does that seem right? I hoped i could use the credit towards a new flight in Jan 09? Does anyone know if SW will allow you to extend the expiry date?

Yes. They will allow you to extend it for 6 months, you have to call their customer relations department between 8 and 5 central time, 214-792-4223. BUT...read my current problem with this here.

I should add that I've done it more than once and this is the first time they want to charge me.

Yes they are now charging and it's per seat so most of the time not worth it.

Sell your credits on E-Bay or craigeslist and get some of your money back and then use that towards your next flights.

I have a $70 credit now I'm getting ready to put up.They extended it right before they stated to charge. The price dropped again and they wanted to charge me but it wasn't worth it as it was like $20 or so . I just gave that to a co-worker.

WWithers Thats what happened to me as well. I will now use my entire credit on just My ticket and pay the Cash for DW and DD that way if prices go down I will get the new 12 months from that date of their tickets not the Old TTV date.

I did come up with a way around my problem...

I combined the tickets and purchased ONE higher priced, one way ticket (which still expires 12/31). Now I will be charged $50 to extend the one ticket instead of $200 to extend all 4 tickets. I'm still out $50 but it's better than $200.
