Hi all,

I saw RT flights from Philly to Orlando for $199 with taxes pp for December on AirTran. Of course I will have to pay $25 pp for check on bags as well so I guess it's like $225 after all is said and done. Should I grab them or wait to see if SW has any great deals from their "dings"? I don't know if I can get much lower but hoping it might be possible. Any opinions regarding this as I've never been in December before so I'm not familiar with the air pricing at this time of year! So excited to be going though!

Just me, but, if given the choice of Air tran or SWA, I would always opt for SWA. Two bags (50# each) per pax. always fly free on SWA. Have you signed up for SWA's weekly special newsletter? It comes out on Tuesdays.

I do love SWA and the no checked bag fee policy and there used to be some good dings from the Philly area to Orlando but that was a few years ago! I am going to wait till the end of September and see what happens I guess but I thought maybe someone might know if $225 is decent for RT cause I think it's a bit high but IDK.

Julie,
I would keep on checking Air Tran and SWA. You simply never know when the airfare will drop.

Thanks everyone I think I will keep checking and pray it goes down not up because $199 RT isn't terrible!

I fly PHL to MCO a lot and I haven't seen a DING to MCO in a long time.

Right now it seems like the best flights I see on SW hover around $89 one way which would work out to $200 RT. I haven't seen lower than that in awhile. You are pretty close with your Airtran flights. I wouldn't hold out hope for much cheaper airfare in December. We have always found PHL fares to be high in December.

I think in your case I would do the Airtran flights and just pay the bag fees. If SW is only a bit more for your flights I think I would just book them. But ifthey are way off from Airtran, I would book that. I don't think $225 is too bad of a price right now.
