Dim lighting in cabins?

I was just reading the newest Unofficial Guide this weekend, and they mention specifically that the lighting in the cabins is very low and dim.

For those of you that have stayed in the cabins, is it really that bad? I don't need it to be as bright as an operating room, but I don't want the kidlets to bump into furniture, either. Also, they'll be doing a little bit of homework at the table, and I don't want to strain our eyes.

Is the lighting a problem, or is it soothing after a long day? We'll be there in December, and I assume sunset is around 6:00. We're planning on easy days in the parks, and coming back after dinner to the cabin. Are we going to be bothered by this?

Should I bring brighter bulbs/additional lamps?

Thanks, everyone!

My family returned from our first stay in the cabins 3 weeks ago. I, too, had read reviews about there not being sufficient lighting. Personally, I didn't think it was bad at all. True, it's not super-duper bright, but that would go against the theming of the cabins. There is a hanging light directly over the dining table, which will probably be the best place for your kids to do their homework. They should be just fine.

Also, I wouldn't worry about anyone bumping into furniture. :)

Have a great trip!!

Thanks a bunch!

I was (almost) kidding about the kid bumping into furniture. My three year old will probably be bumping into a lot of things, regardless of the lighting situation.

I was just afraid it would be dismal and depressing since the sun sets so early that time of year.

I would guess by the ages of you kids that you are young (i.e. under 40) so I would not worry about it if I were you. We stayed at Wilderness Lodge Villas last Christmas and the lighting was VERY dim, particularly in the kitchen. Dh and I are mid-40's and are having a hard time with small print, PLUS, we were cooking a few meals as we had a full kitchen. The dim lighting drove us near crazy. If we ever stayed there again we would try to remember to bring some lamp or something to set up so we could read package directions, ect. If you are younger than 40 you probably don't know this yet, but when the small print gets hard to read good lighting is a MUST!!!! Have fun :teeth: !!!
