I have ordered 12x12 prints from here and have been happy with the quality. The prices seem good and they only charge a $2 flat rate for shipping..... I just noticed that starting May 19th 12x12s are going on sale for $2.49 each.

Oooh, that's a good price. I have gotten some from shutterfly and smugmug and they were great quality, but pricey. When I get a whole book printed, I plan to try CM and/or Shutterfly.

I get mine printed from GDS, she does a really good job. She charges 3.99 a print but only charges 3.85 for shipping no matter how many you buy so IMO the little higher price is made up there. Plus she's a digi scrapper herself so she really pays attention to every detail.

I'd also like to add that you will see people raving about scrapbookstoshare on a lot of boards. They're cheap and cheap is what you get. I was VERY disappointed. The samples they printed me are on a shelf covered in dust w/stuff sitting on top of them cause I don't care if the get messed up. My other prints are in sleeves and you better be careful when you look at my album.kwim?

I'll second scrapbookpictures - I have used them for years and only ever had ONE problem with them. Their quality is top notch and if you can catch their sales.... it's the time to print all your 12x12's. Plus $2 shipping regardless of how much you buy. Can't beat that!

What is GDS? Is there a website?

Hypermommy, you might want to think about waiting until you have all of your cruise LO's done and then getting them printed as a bound book. That's what I'm doing with my January trip LO's. I'll be getting a book for me and one for my MIL. It iwll be expensive, but not AS expensive as getting each one printed as a page print, kwim? And the quality of the bound books is really nice, too. (at least the ones form Shutterfly are and I know there are other sites that print them, too)

I printed a set of 12x12 pages through CM and the same exact set through scrapbookpictures, and I would say the quality was extremely close. The paper and finish was comparable IMHO, you could see a slight difference in the color between the two -- I would not say color was better on one or the other -- they were just a little different -- probably due to the printing process or whatever.

Tinker -- have you ever printed on their metallic paper? I'm wondering what it looks like.

For the bound Storybooks, I love CM -- but I have heard that Shutterfly is fairly comparable.

GDS-godigitalscrapbooking, sorry I forget not everyone knows who they are, lol.

I prefer prints because I notice people have tenancy to reach out and touch them. It would drive me insane to have people put their paws on them without a sleeve. I'm just weird about my pictures.

Has anyone ever had their handwriting made into a font? Any suggestions as to the best place to have this done? It kind of makes me sad that now that I am digiscrapping, my handwriting is no longer in my albums....

Hey Wen -- What kind of albums and sleeves do you use to store your 12x12 prints? I've always used CM, but I'm contemplating going to something with a top loading sleeve....

I have never tried CM- I have a sister in law who is a seller- but I don't design with CM software, so I guess I assumed I couldn't print? I'll have to check it out.... especially if it's cheaper adn the quality is the same. I just like Scrapbookpictures becasue it's good quality and the shipping cost is good along with their sales!

I have not printed on their metallic paper- I've wanted to try too, but the cost is prohibitive.....

Tinker -- I think I was unclear in my previous post -- I was trying to say that given the comparable quality, I would definitely go with scrapbookpictures over CM for prints. CM is more expensive (prices range from 3.99 to 6.99 per print -- depending on how many you order-- plus the shipping is way more). I think scrapbookpictures is much more reasonable given the high quality -- and I totally LOVE CM, so I'd love to say their prints are much better, but they aren't, IMHO.

I do want to try the metallic at scrapbookpictures sometime though -- just to see what it looks like -- I bet it would be awesome for b/w LOs.

The one album I have is by J & M I think? But I just had one made w/a LO on the cover and pic of us in front of the Partners statue on the back. I love it! Anyway, I picked up Tapestry refills and I like them much better then the ones in the albums. They seem to have a smidge more room. They are top loading and I got them at Micheals.

The personal fonts seemed a little expensive but my hubby told me to go for it.:cool1: I am thinking of getting Darcey Baldwin's(she's at scrap girls I think) and will go for the ones she won't sell. I think her prices are 15.00 for handwriting, 25.00 if you don't want to let her sell it. I'd be real interested to hear about other sites if anyone knows of them.

Hey there,

Thanks for the suggestion. But KC bought me this absolutely wonderful scrapbook on the cruise and I've got to use it. It really is beautiful. But I know future pages/books will be 8x8 because with the right paper they print pretty good here at home.

Wonder how many pages my ink cartridge will print... maybe that's a way of balancing the cost so KC doesn't have heart failure.

Got a couple more done today.

And then there's this one. Did this in response to the Tuesday challenge over at SM.

Now this one I just have to share the journaling because I think it's a pretty funny story. Journaling reads: When we were in Grand Caymen we came across this bar that had a sign out front that showed how tall you had to be to drink. I thought I remembered something about a drinking age in Grand Caymen, but I couldn’t remember for sure and there was the sign right there. And according to the sign both boys were tall enough to drink. James was concerned because the counselors at The Stack had made it quite clear that everyone better come back sober. But I knew they wouldn’t drink much anyway. Beer is a taste they haven’t acquired. And besides -- it would make a great story to tell their friends. So up we go to the bar. When we got there we learned that they could, in fact, get a drink -- a coke! Oh well, it would have been a great story!

Come to think of it it still does make a good tale. And like a good fish story the boys will have a hard time getting anyone to believe them.

I am a bit behind on this thread.
Labdogs -- thanks for the freebie link for AK! Also, I wish I did my Cinderella Carrousel LO after yours because I would have scraplifted that. I did mine for your challenge but yours is the look I was going for. It is really beautiful.

Wen -- glad to hear your thoughts about scrapbooks to share because I had planned on using them when I was done with this trip. Good to know! I have also heard good things about Shutterfly, but what is this about them cutting off the edges?

Hypermommy -- I enjoy seeing your cruise pictures. Hoping to go on one someday . . .

Well, I'm planning to get all of these Disney LO's made into one book, so I'll let you know how it comes out when it is finally done. Even when you get 12x12 prints made, they are trimmed a tiny bit, so make sure your important elements aren't right at the edge. In the books, the pages are trimmed a tiny bit and depending on which side the page is on, one side will be trimmed a little more than the other, KWIM? SBC+ has a preview button that will show what parts of a layout might be "cut off" when the page is bound into a book. Shutterlfy has templates and specifications that tell you exactly what the printable area of the pages is. They also have templates to use to make the covers and spines of the books.

I'm glad so many people like my carrousel layout, I wasn't super sure about it at first!

I want to get one of those handwriting fonts made, too. Has anyone actually gotten one before?

Jess, I think Britt mentioned she had one but I'm not sure where from.

There is a girl named Wendzine who does templates for the shutterfly books, people rave about her. I've also read that a lot of people size their LO's down by half an inch and then put them the same back round paper they used for their LO's. That way what gets cut off is that paper and not the LO. I've not had a problem with my stuff being cut off but I suspect she prints them larger and then trims them down. Not sure though. My ultimate goal is to convince hubby I need a wide format printer.

Hey, did you guys see britt's new stuff today? I picked up some!! :) I wanted to scrap tonight -- but i am just too tired.. so, i am gonna play Webkinz for a bit and go to bed early - so i can get up early and scrap tomorrow am with my cup of coffee! (IF you can't tell, i am just NOT a night person)..

OT-- but on a related "night" person note: i have a funny story to tell when we were in WDW last week -- we went with my mom, sis, dd7, and my mother in law.. Well, we (my mom, me and my sis ) all are not night people, and we went to bed fairly early -- especially the night before our 5k race - well, don't ya know, one night i hear my MIL and my dd yapping, and then hear the door to the room close ----- turns out, they went out to the hot tub and got ice cream sundaes at midnight!!! LOL Then, the next night, i left my MIL and my dd at MK at 11:30 pm and i headed back to go to bed, well..... lets just say my MIL and my dd didn't get back in bed til after 2am!!! Yikes..... she doesn't get that from me! LOL

Where would I find more info on this Wendzine? I googled, but didn't find anything.

ETA, Stacy, I play Webkinz, too! We should be friends!! :)
