These are all such wonderful layouts...thanks for sharing them!

I saw some of the earlier layouts with a picture as the background, and I'm wondering how this is done in PSE?

Any help would be much appreciated...thanks!
I don't use PSE but the concept is basically the same. I usually feather my edges and then size the picture over my backround paper and play with the blending modes. Then I play with the opacity until I get the look I want. Hope this helps!

Wen -- Left you feedback at SM too, but wanted to say I LOVE your LO -- especially all of the texture and your use of the elements. WOW!

Aw, thanks girls! Even w/a template it still took me two days to do. I'm the slowest scrapper on the planet.

Wen -- Love that LO! I love the paper and such beautiful babies!!!!

Hey guys, I got one done this morning with Busyscrappin's new kit. It's not for sale yet but I'm pretty sure it's going on sale tomorrow. I don't know the rules... are we allowed to post links to kits that we like?

Anyway... here's the LO. Click for credits. Journaling reads:

Journaling reads:

What does it mean to be
raising my boys with a respect for their
Southern heritage? It means teaching them to
respect folks that believe in something strongly even if you
don’t agree with the belief. It means teaching them the
importance of God and Family and manners and a certain
civility. It means teaching them to rely on themselves and
their friends instead of on the government. It means
teacahing them to respect the rights of the
individual sometimes over the group.

I LOVE your "Cousins" LO! The paper is so rich and textured. It's a perfect kit for those pictures. I have problems finding kits and problems using embellishments . . . I think this is why I AM the slowest scrapper on the planet :)

To use a picture as a background, you merely stretch it (keep the same ratio so it doesn't look funny) to either the full size of the page, or a portion of it, whatever you desire. Then lower the opacity to suit your needs.

Hypermommy, great page, love the hanging frames, you did a great job on the shadowing for them.

Suzi-I look at elements as a puzzle, I just start piling them on and moving them around until they eventually fall into place. (The eraser brush, duplicate layer and shadowing are my best friends.) I spent an hour doing that cluster up top, ended up hating it and redid the whole thing. Some of us have to work real hard at it and for some it just comes easy. What matters most is that we like what we did. No matter how long it takes us, lmao!

Here are two layouts I finished today.

I linked them to SM, too, but I'm not sure if the links will keep working if they move the LO's to the QOS gallery. We'll see!

I LOVE those star frames and the coloring of the carrosel and the background paper and how everything just works so well together. Great LO!!! Love the AK LO too!

Labdogs, beautiful layouts! I especially like the first one with the contrast of the dark paper against the lights of the carousel. Great nighttime pictures, too. Do you remember what font you used on that one?

The font is Jacoba (I knew I forgot something in my credits! Darn!). Thanks for the compliments. I wanted to preserve the nighttime feeling of the photos, so I didn't lighten them at all. I thought about it, but then decided to leave them as is. Glad they look good to someone besides me!! :thumbsup2

Jessica, I'm glad you didn't lighten the photos. I really like the look! I saw your post to Susan and I'm another Disney photography nut. I use an Olympus E-500, however. I have to admit that I've usually been using the auto or program modes and have just started playing with manual settings. It's so neat when you get that perfect picture. :yay:

Golden Wedding Anniversary: This layout is of my paternal Grandparents' golden wedding anniversary. My Grandma's favorite color is peach and since she had a peach-ish dress on I pulled that color to use.

Through the Years: This is a layout of all my school pictures, though the more recent ones were removed for privacy. Its so funny to look back on the photos and wonder what the heck I was thinking when I selected some of the outfits! :lmao: I plan to do pages for each of my siblings, but I don't have theirs scanned in. I plan that each of us will have a different color. I used a chalkboard paper to create the frame. I like how the chalk letters turned out.

Of course, right AFTER I finish an AK page, I stumble on this freebie. Good thing I have more AK pics to scrap! I thought some of us might like this kit! I guess I should post this on the Digital FAQ page, too.

Wow Jess, you're on a roll! Gorgeous pages, I especially love the night one.

Thanks! I'm really trying to finish all the pages for my Disney book so I can order the hard copies by June 6! We'll see if I make it!

Where do you get your hard copies? What size do you get? I had told KC that I was going to do 8x8 so I could print them at home but the more I thought about that beautiful scrapbook filled with pages that just didn't fit the more I couldn't do it. So now I have to get some 12x12s printed. Don't tell KC though..... he doesn't know there are expenses of the cruise that must be paid after the cruise and not just counting the groaning-under-the-weight credit cards.
