I was just wondering as my digital camera batteries will need to be charged up (I will probably wear them out :flower: ). Will it be okay to charge them if I get a plug adaptor? Only I know there is different voltage or something and now I am starting to worry.

You should be okay - I regularly charge my video camera through an adaptor and (touch wood) it has always been okay - someone with more knowledge of digital cameras will hopefully confirm!

I've regularly recharged my didtal camera batteries in the states just by using a standard adaptor, no problems so far!

Check to se whether your battery charger says someting like 110-240V. If it does you'll be fine, but if it says something like 220-240V either it won't work or it will take a very long time to charge your batteries.

Biggest problem I had with my battery and camcorder chargers was keeping them plugged into the rubbishy US power sockets! Especially if you have a UK mains plug adapter on as well :)

In the end I had to use a phone book and Gideon bible to prop them up to keep them in the socket :)

Hi,
As we go to USA a couple of times a year I bought a new power lead from a Dollar shop to use with my camera charger so I don't have to use a UK adaptor. Oddly enough it cost me a dollar..!!.. :teeth:

I bought my digital camera on the last trip and the guy threw in a charger and batteries - but I think they were only 10 bucks - not bad for decent batteries and I can now use the charger on my future trips! I had two sets of batteries and charged one set every other day... it was a new camera and I took LOTS of photos :0

 Thanks everyone, I have looked at the charger and it seems to be 100-240v so I am hoping it will be okay as the camera is fairly new and I didn't want to have to buy a new one. :)

It will be fine if it says that. All you need is a cheap convertor so your UK 3-pin plug will fit into the (rubbishy, as Goofyish said!) 2-pin sockets.
