Hope there are some Digital camera buffs out there......

Can I buy a Smartmedia card in the US for my camera?
Are all smartmedia cards able to go in my camera (Olympus) regardless of the make of card ?

I ask because a 32mb smart media card is around £40 -50 but is advertised on Wal-mart's web site as $28 !!!!!!

Thanks,
Tony

What kind of camera do you have? I have an Olympus C-3040. I don't think that your memory cards are any different than ours. I bought several cards for our last trip to WDW, that way I wouldn't have to lug the laptop. I even made a trip over to Best Buy while at WDW and bought some more. I think I took over 600 pictures on our last trip.

Thanks for all the replies.....

I mis typed my original - it was £40 for a 64mb card - but I shall try some of the places/sites mentioned. I would like to take a 124mb card - that should do for most of the holiday - and buy an extra one in Florida if needed.

to answer your question about will all smartmedia work in your camera, the answer is maybe not.....If I remember correctly, there are 3.3V cards out there, and also 3V.
Most cameras will accomodate both, but possibly not all....I dont remember which is which, but one is extremely common, the other is very rare.
Its worth double checking in your manual, or on the card you currently run to make sure you match it.

Where were you looking?

some camera shops along the 192, pointe orlando (by wonderworks on idrive), florida mall, orlando premium outlets and also some camera shops on idrive

i can buy a 128mb memory stick from www.7dayshop.com for about £55 delivered

I've found the best place to buy memory is at stores like Wal-mart, Circuit City or Best Buy. If you're there on a Sunday, buy the paper and check the sale flyers.

i purchased a couple of memory cards on my last trip to WDW. just make sure that you buy a 3.3v and not a 5v and also that your camera can take the bigger cards.

i brought a 64mb card and took pictures at my brothers wedding then 2 days later after taking a picture an error came up on the camera and i lost all the pictures, only to find out 6 months later that my camera can only take a maximum 16mb Smart Media card.

oh well u live and learn :)

Hi neilybealy,

I wasn't posting manufacturer specific media - I read the original post as a general enquiry regarding smartmedia?
I bought 128 MB of PQI branded for my Canon Powershot S30 and it works a treat.

shows a couple of cards around that price.

Sorry if I misread the original post, but was it not a general enquiry about smartmedia and not manufacturer specific?
I was posting links to 'non-branded' smartmedia, as I'd purchased 128MB of PQI 'cheapo' brand for my Canon Powershot S30. It has worked a treat.

This is a similar link to well priced 128MB smartmedia.
