I have 4 home resorts in 2 use years...June and August. It has worked fine for but it would be easier if it was all one UY. I'll give an example of my experience today.
I added 55 BWV points to our Aug UY...went on the waitlist for Aug or June and June came through 1st. Then, about a month later, we get a call from our guide that they forgot to take us off the August UY waitlist and those points were now available to us if we wanted them...we couldn't resist taking 25 of them. So we have BWV in both UY. I booked for our Aug 2015 trip...booked 4 nights at BWV and had to transfer 20 points over from Aug to June in order to do so. I also used our AKV points in Aug UY to book 3 nights at AKV. So, today I cancelled the BWV resie to book a studio for all 7 nights (and at 7 month window I will cancel the AKV booking to book BWV in a 1BR for the same 7 nights so we can have 10 folks on our resie...long story).
I cancelled the BWV for 4 nights and went to book, online, the 7 nights in the studio and noticed that the 20 transferred points weren't showing and realized I have to call MS to use those. So, I call and get it done. But then I decided to transfer the extra (left over after cancelling the 2BR at BWV) BWV June UY points over to Aug UY to use for the 1BR booking on Jan 1. I hung up and realized that I need to call on Jan 1 to book now, since I will be using the transferred points. I could cancel AKV and book the first several nights at 8AM online and then call in at 9AM to add with the transferred points...that's what I'll do because I want a 1BR standard view and I'm afraid that will be grabbed up on the 7 month window at 8AM.
So...long story short, it can be convoluted and there is more to keep track of...but it works and we do get 2 transfers per UY and can buy OTU points for each UY.
