Difficult to leave parks for dinner and then return?

We will be at DW for the 1st time this April, and we would like to try dining at some of the different hotels. Is it time-consuming or difficult to leave the Magic Kingdom and go to the Kona Cafe or Whispering Canyon Cafe for dinner and then return for evening parades and fireworks? Or leaving Epcot to eat at the Cape May Cafe of Flying Fish Cafe and then return? We'll have a rental car, so I'm assuming that we would leave it at the park and take Disney transportation. Any suggestions?

If you leave MK for the Kona Cafe you can simply hop on the monorail. If you leave MK for Whispering Canyon, just catch the direct boat.

If you want to go to Cape May Cafe or Flying Fish, just walk right out the back exit of Epcot (International Gateway, bewteen UK and France). It's about a 10 minute stroll to either of those restaurants from there.

Easy, huh? :)

Just a word of caution ... if the MK is super packed (as it will be during some days in April), you might not be able to reenter the park because of capacity issues.

Most times of the year it would be fine, but during holiday periods I have heard they reach capacity (especially at the MK) and can't guarantee readmittance to that particular park. As you probably know, if one park is full they will direct you to another park.

That's not likely to happen at the dinner hour, though. Generally, MK will close early in the day and then reopen later (usually after the parade).

The proximity of the restaurant to the park you are visiting is something you should keep in mind. If your in the MK try one the monorail resorts for dining. If you are at Epcot, try the Boardwalk, Beach Club, Swan or Dolphin eateries. Etc.

By all means, try the resort restaurants. They have some of the best meal in the "World". Take some time to look around the resorts too!!
