I am looking at purchasing another re-sale contract and need some advice. The contract I like has a different use year than my other two. (VB-April/ OKW-Oct./ New-VB-Dec) I understand the complexity of this multiple contract UY situation but my question is: I think the only real problem I would have is having to wait until the 7 month window for booking? For example I can use any of the points if available either regular, banked or borrowed and or transfer them at any time after 7 months? Thanks

You can use any of the points 7 months out but be careful with your strategy. You are only allowed one transfer per year either in or out. You will never be able to transfer all the points from 3 different membership numbers into the same account. You would be better off splitting up you reservation and booking individual nights with different contracts. Example: for a 7 night trip, book the first 3 nights with contract #1, the next two nights with contract #2 and the last 2 nights with contract #3.

I would not want to do what you are attempting.

Even if I go with the same VB UY in April they still treat that contract individually and not as a combined one correct? I will still need to make multiple reservations like described in the other post. If I would buy it from Disney they could combine them into one? Thanks

You can add the new contract to either one of your memberships as long as the have the same UY. You will need to let DVC know just before the final paperwork is ready to be processed and add the membership number to the paperwork being submitted.

So if I have a April VB 50 point and buy a April VB 55 they will combine the two into one if I want? April VB 105 with one membership number? Thanks

That is correct. Just make sure everybody is on the same page about combining the contracts under one membership.

It will be two contracts under one membership number. If it's both Vero then it will act just like a 105 point contract at both 11 months and 7 months but it will always remain as two contracts and can be sold individually should you choose.

If it were another resort it would still act as one contract for you at 7 months - just not 11 months since you may only use those points at the resort they are owned at.

When you buy be certain to let your resale agent know that you have another contract and want this to combine with it. And as mentioned - make certain you get it titled exactly like the other.

So really the big advantage would be that you only have one membership number for 2 contracts? You would still need to bank, borrow for each contract in order to make reservations and manage points? Would transferring not be applicable in this case since it is the same member number? Thanks again. This help so much!

That would be the big advantage. One membership with 2 contracts with the same resort is treated as 1 contract. All points would be pooled together for reservation purposes. You can transfer OKW to the VB if you need to make a reservation at the 7 month mark but I think it would be just as easy to use one to book what you need and the other for the rest and bank any left over points. If you need to use all the points, then you will have to do a transfer.

But if I wanted to sell it would be two contracts? Thanks again.

Yes that is correct. 2 VB contracts with the same use year under the same membership number would, for all practical purposes, (banking, borrowing, reservations) function as a single contract, but could legally be sold separately in the future.

Well, the big advantage is that it all pools together and acts as one - except for home resort advantage. No "transferring" is required. For example - you have a 50 pt VB and a 50 pt OKW. You could do that following:

Booking at 11 months:

Use up to 50 pts at VB - or up to 150 if you have banked and borrowed.
Use up to 50 pts at OKW - or up to 150 if you have banked and borrowed.

At 7 months:
Use up to 100 pts at any resort you wish (and you are able to designate to MS which points you wish to be used first - your VB or your OKW) or up to 300 points with banking and borrowing.

The contracts themselves legally remain 50 and 50 and can be sold as such, but for your use purpose they are 100 points at 7 months without any transferring. Or - if they were both at the same resort it would act as one single contract but could still be sold individually.
