My fiance and I are really considering a DVC membership. We are looking to buy a smaller contract resale (65pts) or do the 100 point incentive directly through the Dis. The 65 point contract is ideal for us actually because we usually go once a year either in early december or october for food and wine and MNSSHP and we can use those points for either trip Sun-Thurs in a savannah view and be set! Later we would add on when kids might arrive. :scared1: anyways...:) My question is ....is there a difference in your ownership as to whether you "own" Kidani or Jambo? Are the resales I am looking at Jambo and the direct Dis memberships Kidani? FI and would like the option to choose and not be limited. Any ideas?

Jambo House and Kidani Village are two sections of AKV. Having an ownership interest in a unit in either building makes you and AKV owner. You have home resort booking priority at both locations.

In the long run it doesn't matter whether the points you own are tied to a Unit in Kidani or Jambo House. They are two separate buildings but they are one resort: AKV. Your points can be used to book either building.

In the short run, there is a difference. Kidani isn't open yet so if you purchase points tied to a Kidani Unit it will (most likely) have an occupancy date of May 1, 2009. That means the earliest date you can take a vacation booked with AKV points is May 1, 2009. You can book the trip 7/11 months out but the first night of your stay cannot be earlier than May 1, 2009. That also means that your dues will not begin any earlier than that date. Jambo House is already open so if you purchase points tied to a Jambo House Unit, you can take a vacation on points at any time.

Disney doesn't have many Jambo House points left so it may not be possible to buy points tied to a Jambo House Unit directly from Disney. Contracts for sale on the resale market are most likely Jambo contracts but there could be some Kidani contracts out there as well. If that May 1st date is important to you, be sure to ask. The contract doesn't state "Jambo" or "Kidani" since those are names of buildings, not the name of the resort. The way you can tell is by the Unit number. Units 1-56 are in Jambo House.

You didn't ask about Use Year but if you will generally visit WDW in Oct or Dec, an Oct Use Year would work well for you. Your Use Year determines your banking deadline. You can bank points during the first 8 months of your UY. It's helpful to have a UY where your normal travel occurs early in your UY. If you should ever need to cancel a trip, you would still be within your banking window and could bank any current-UY points used for your stay. You would also have most of the rest of your UY to try to use any points you cannot bank (banked or borrowed points).
