Diez (10) Noches Calientes en la Riviera Mexicana/17 de abril 2011 (4.17.11 Wonder!)

We booked the Cabo Beach Resort on Monday since it is a short day and I am worried about getting back to the boat if we do anything on our own. It is nice knowing they can't leave without us on an excursion. We plan on doing Easter on our own since we aren't due back until later. We might get a water taxi & having lunch at one of the resorts. We can't decide if it is worth the cost to do the Beach Resort Monday. It is such a short amount of time for so much money and so far it has gotten okay reviews but nothing where people feel like it was worth the cost. I posted asking for reviews but no one responded. DH is leaning more on the cancel side, I want to keep it. I was just hoping a few people would post that they had a fantastic time and it was worth every penny.

So I bumped your request for review on the main board. Interesting....take a look at the first review someone posted tonight

According to the poster, they went to the Villa del Arco Beach Resort and not the Villa del Palmar Resort. Just another curve ball in a series of curve balls I guess :)

Hi
Just wondering if there are any scrapbookers on this cruise? My friend was on the Wonder in Jan to the MR and she said they had a scrapbook activities.

Here is the current pins 101 list....please PM me if I missed you (I have PMs coming in for packing lists and pin trading and with 3 cruises I apologize if I missed you!)

This list will be open to any and all and I will not "close" the list per se. However, I will be leaving my house a couple of days before the cruise and will not be able to print anything out after the 13th. SO..if you want printed copies of this - PLEASE let me know asap!

Oh - the offer for my packing list is still open as well. I think I have sent it to at least 20 people, I hope it helps!

Sent out assignments for the Secret Mickeys for half of the list. The other half should be hearing from Helen tonight or tomorrow. If you still don't have a SM assigned by Thursday and you've submitted an entry online, please let Helen and I know and we'll double check our lists.

I sent out the remaining Secret Mickey assignments earlier this evening. Please do reach out to Connie or I if you have not received an e-mail from us. :cheer2:

we are....flying into long beach midday saturday. Stll figuring out how to get from airport to hotel....if we want to rent car/take shuttle etc. Need to get a grocery stop in there as well (ummm, Lisa....might be borrowing your car:thumbsup2)

Well of course...but since it's a company car Mark will have to drive you. I know he'll be happy to be your chauffer, lol. HP won't even let me drive the car now. Policy is "no spouses" only the employee. Really stinks. And you know we'd pick you up but now with us not being able to leave Murrieta until 12, that won't work. Also, if it's easier I'm happy to be your personal grocery shopper...whatever you need! :worship: :rotfl2:

I always prefer having a chauffer anyway...that way I can start my vacation earlier! :rotfl2:

I don't remember which one we did (Liserann....can you help with my memory?!:confused3) but we did one in PV in 08 and it was great and worth every penny. It was a high speed boat ride, followed by a jeep trip up the mountain and then we got on a donkey and rode to the top of the zips and did about 7 different zip lines/rappels etc. We had a blast and it was beautiful. We left our kids one the ship so we booked through dcl. I can't remember any cons...would do it again in a heart beat (but not this cruise...want the girls a bit older to go with us!)

I could have done without the rappelling as you may well recall Kaylee. "What do you mean you want me to go from here to THERE?!?!" :scared1: Good thing we rappelled into water. :rolleyes1

The company we use was Vallarta Adventures. It was the adventure of a lifetime. Next cruise we'll have to zipline!

hello disers!!!
O.M.G is almost there i cannot belive it.is that ok that i keep telling people about our cruise, even complete strangers:rotfl2:.
i just keep driving very slow, and i tell dh and dd to have extra carefull, because i don´t want anything to ruim our cruise, realy i´m going:banana::banana:

We are doing the Los Veranos zip lining in PV. Myself, husband, 8 year old daughter and almost 6 year old son. Okay I fudged on his age a little, he will be one month shy of 6.

Kristi, my daughter is turning 6 in May and I was thinking the same thing.. she's close enough to 6 for the private excursions, right? She's tall and wants to do everything her big sis does. We're signed up for the pirate boat, but I'll have to run this idea by them as well. Our neighbor has a zip line in their backyard and the girls have been doing it for years already.

Thank you Helen and Connie for organizing the Secret Mickeys! It's going to be a lot of fun!
I cannot wait for this cruise! I'm having trouble focusing on anything else!

I just called DCL to see what movies are playing during our cruise. This is what I got:

Alice in Wonderland
Prince of Persia
TS3
You Again
Secretariat
Tangled
Tron Legacy
Gnomeo & Juliet
I am #4
Mars Needs Moms

I asked her about African Cats, which we are really looking forward to. She said she could not tell, but to check the Navigator for first run movies. I have a feeling that they can't actually see the movies by cruise date. I think they can just see the movies that the ship currently has. I was hoping Disney's Oceans would still be playing, but that movie is almost a year old.

What is everyone's thoughts on the photo cd for $400? I was just reading about it on the main board. That sounds like so much money, but we never get family photos. Each year I get professional photos of the kids in May at like Picture People or somewhere similar. I usually end up paying $150 or so. I then hang the current photos up in our family room. We have never done a professional photo shoot of us with the kids. I really want to and thought this might be the opportunity. I am considering the cd.

Along that same thought, does anyone have wardrobe recommendations for a family photo? I would like to do some fun, casual photos with the white background. I have no idea what sort of matching look we should go with.

Are these more like semi-candid shots around the ship, like the Photo Pass at Disneyland? I wouldn't think these would compare to a portrait studio. (But I haven't done it before so I'm not one to say) I'm the biggest penny pincher you can find, so $400 sounds absurd to me, especially if you aren't getting any actual prints, but I haven't ruled it out completely yet.

I'm with you, $400 sounds like a lot of $$ and all you end up with is the CD. Last two cruises we spent about $200 on photos and I'm happy with that. We had everything from candids to posed, wall worthy portraits. In 2008 they offered packages...something like x (don't remember) 5x7s and x 8x10s. I'm not sure if they still offer those and/or what the prices are. I scrapbook and love photos but I just can't see spending $400...I'd rather updgrade out of the bowels of the ship. :rotfl2: But for those who want all the pictures taken of their family, I think it could be a good deal.

Princess and princes dinner, i was trying to get DD to dress up but she doesn't want to wear a princess dress, she wants to wear her Alice one that my step mom made her do you think she will feel out of place?

On our last cruise we just bought the 8x10s that we wanted. We didn't pose with the studio lights, but I got a few cute ones with the characters.

I'm a family photographer and what I recommend to my clients is to start with one of the kids' outfits, for example a little girl's dress or boy's polo, and pick two colors from it to coordinate the rest of the family. Like if you start with a dress that is white with a green and blue floral print, then have the rest of the family wear tones of green and blue. Try to stick to mostly solids for the others so you don't have too many competing patterns. For a white backdrop avoid black and navy, they contrast too much with the bright white. I have planned some coordinates for our family to do some beach portraits during the cruise--I have matching dark pink and orange floral print dresses for the girls, a dark pink cardigan and a white tank with colored beading for me, and an orange polo and khaki shorts for hubby. Last year we did beach portraits with aquas and whites. That looked nice, too. Janie and Jack has nice coordinates, I often get the kids stuff there, although this year I found everything at Old Navy.

If it is the same as the last cruise...the cost includes all pictures taken on board...formal (done nightly with different back drops and settings), character pics and random ones through the cruise. On the dream they had your room key linked to shutters so all your pictures were in one binder and easy to view. The downfall to the cd was that it does not include any of the borders (Pirate Night, Tritons, etc) on the pictures, it is just the pics. On the PC we spent 250.00 and came home with plenty of pictures. I don't think i will do the CD because I really like the borders they add and the CD would sit like the rest of my pics...on my computer!

Darling! We went to see the stage production of Beauty and the Beast on Sunday and DD wanted to wear her Belle dress, but it was pouring buckets all day and night. We looked like drowned rats by the time we got in. Just ordered tickets to see Mary Poppins for the 2nd time this year. (It's that good!)

Thanks for checking on the movies. :goodvibes I am hoping for HOP, it looks sooo cute.

I love the family photos that are the same pants and shirts ie. khakis pants and white shirts or jeans and white shirts. Or all the guys in blue and white shirt striped shirts and the girls in solid blue or white. But these are more casual...what about what you guys wear on formal night? :confused3

The cd is up to you. :thumbsup2
