I really think those weight-loss places are a scam. You don't have to pay people to lose weight. You just have to use more calories than you take in.

Get enough sleep, drink lots of water, take your vitamins and get some exercise. You can walk for free! And nothing is better for abs than the old 6 inches. Or get a workout tape (I like Denise Austin), join the Y, whatever.

Whatever you decide, good luck! :)

I'm young, but naturally more curvy and pleasently plump. I have found that controlling my calorie intake is much more effective for me than going on any structured diet. I have set amount of calories, but I can eat whatever foods I want. I also dance and go to the gym to keep my ideal weight.

My mother did WW a long time ago. She said it worked for her. She no longer does it because of health issues though(not caused by WW).

I was talking to a personal trainer-in training the other night. He was telling me you need to drink AT LEAST 96 ounces of water per day and another 8 oz for ever 25 lbs you want to lose.

Also said working out first thing in the morning is 3x more effective than working out later in the day -- something about lower blood sugar and quicker fat burn.

Told me the ratio of protein to carb to fat -- I think it was 50/40/10, but I'm not 100% on that.

Said to eat like 6 meals a day.

Cardio is the best way to lose -- fat burning starts after 18 minutes.

A small amount of caffeine before a workout will lower bloodsugar and increase effectiveness.

Weight training boosts weight loss as well, since muscle burns more calories than fat.

No alcohol.

No beverages besides water (or a few as possible).

Ice water will burn calories -- body has to heat it up.

I put other. I don't believe in "diets". I believe in the "right" portions. I also believe in eating when I'm hungry and not eating when I'm not hungry.

Another "other".

Portion control and eating healthy, (limiting processed junk), is the way to go...You must commit to a lifestyle change.
It is hard as heck sometimes but I cannot do "diets".

Although Dr. Phil has a great way to jump start you into eating right and exercising again.
I have to say his book is pretty good.:thumbsup2

WW worked for me to initially lose a good amount of weight, and sticking to their general guidelines helps with the maintenance and not to gain a lot back again. As others have said, you have to be ready, and motivated, and follow healthy eating and good exercise patterns as a way of life. :sunny:
