Dieting for Disney

I've done eDiets a couple of times to drop a few pounds here and there - it is hard, but it definitely works.

i've been doing this since March! my goal is to lose 50 lbs. by our January trip. i'm on my way!! the WISH boards are good. WW also has it's own discussion board that has TONS of information and tips. it has been great!! i think Disney Trips are the perfect motivation! i just keep thinking how much more comfortable i'll be at DW 50 lbs. lighter!!!!! can't wait, can't wait, can't wait!!!!! :goodvibes :goodvibes :goodvibes

Im trying to lose weight for my OCT trip as well!
I started last week but honestly wasnt serious until this week.
I have lost 2lbs in a week and my goal is 25-40lbs

Good luck everyone we will have to keep this thread going to watch our progress

Trying to lose weight for my Sept, trip. I'd like to lose about 30lbs. I did it last year and felt so much better about our trip pictures! I had hand surgery last month so I have not been able to go to the gym but I hope to get back soon. Good luck everybody!

We leave for our trip on 11-27. Tomorrow I'm having baby #3 princess: and plan on heading back to WW in a couple of weeks. I would love to be 40-50 lbs lighter before heading to DW. Good luck to all!

Some of you have said you've lost weight for trips before...can I ask what you did different to be able to do this? I can use any helpful suggestions I can get! (I already know I need to cut back on the ice cream)

I just reached WW lifetime today. But I only had to lose five pounds.

I did the WW core plan. Which means you simply have a list of foods you can eat, and you eat very sparingly anything NOT on that list. Fruits and vegetables (not in sugar syrup), lean meats (not lunchmeat), non-fat dairy products. Also non-fat dressings, etc. As much as you want, as long as you are "comfortable" and not stuffed. You can have limited whole grains and potatos. Anything else (cookies, ice cream, white bread, potato chips, alcohol) eat very sparingly.

When I made ressies last Sept. I decided I wanted to be thin (or at least thinner) for our trip in June. I joined WW (points plan) and set myself a weight goal. I am now 65 lbs. lighter and 9 lbs. away from my goal. We leave in 10 days (so I didnt make my goal) and I cant wait to wear all my new clothes and take lots of pictures with my kids! If WDW is what motivates you-go for it! I wish you luck and remember to take it one day at a time! :earsboy:

YEAH!!! So happy to see this thread as I am on WW, core plan minus 25 pounds a size 6 from a 14 :cool1: and only 3 pounds to goal :flower:
I plan on
1. LOTS OF WATER
2. Salads/ff dressings/diet drinks for lunches
3. Seafoods/fish or lean steaks w no butter and sauce w side salads for dinner
4. 94% ff popcorn from home to pop in microwave for my snacks
5. fresh fruit as my snack options in parks
6. swim laps and sit ups every night I am there to make up for the deserts I am going to eat and enjoy!!
7. no fried foods
8. split entrees with kids or dh
9. IF I GO OFF PLAN THAT WEEK DO NOT LET THE GUILT KILL ME, GET BACK ON THE WAGON WHEN I GET HOME!!!!

I love core core core!!! I do the core boards on WW site all the time!! Has changed my life forever...I would like to personally loose another 15 to 20 but WW set my goal at higher (easier to achieve)

Wow I am so glad I have found others. I have alot to lose. But I will be happy with whatever I can do by October. CONGRATS to the lifetime members to WW. :cheer2: I just recently switched to core. I was doing well until I ran out of some of my core foods. I am really motivated. I want to do it this time for the last time.

congrats on reaching goal crisi!!

i love core. i've been doing it since march and never feel deprived. it isn't as restrictive as it sounds. you have a list of "core" foods, and 35 flex points per week to use on non-core foods. you can also earn activity points to supplement your 35 flex points. it is great!

DH loves it too, because his dinners are so good and not at all what you would think of as a "diet". he's losing weight just from eating better dinners. i would tell anyone who wants to lose weight to give it a try!

btw
stats are

169/144/141

5'3

going to weigh in tonight matter of fact!!

anyone try the starbucks LIGHT mocha frappacinos??? YUUUMMMYYY AND 2 PTS for some chocolate :cool1:
do they have SB at Disney????? :rotfl:

I am a VERY picky eater, DH & I don't cook much, get too much take out but you guys have motivated me! Tell me about the CORE program? How do we get started, how much does it cost, hows the food (some examples?)...all the info you have. If DH & I do this together maybe it'll work better. Thanks!

I would suggest going to a WW meeting or joining etools Weight Watchers.

Here is a sample of what I eat:

bkfst

Shredded wheat w skim milk
banana
sugar free vanilla latte w skim milk

snack
apple or ff cheese or yogurt w fruit

lunch:
tuna salad
w light bread
tomato
fruit or veggie salad
diet pepsi
OR
veggie burger w marinara sauce and ff mozzerella cheese
on light bun
w salad and fruit

Dinner:
steak
corn on cob w spray butter
plain baked potato
broccolli steamed w crushed red pepper

desert:
fake apple crisp
choc pudding
or core cheesecake

There is not enough time or room to write all the rules but as you can see I in no way starve and have done very well
I also exercise about 5 times a week but this is not required to loose on WW

I have etools and love it! It has the info you could ever want or need. I highly recommend it. They even have sample menu plans for the day and recepies for all your favorite foods.

Thanks, I didn't find core restrictive at all....and never tracked points. I just ate anything "non-core" sparingly. The big thing to worry about was bread - i.e. sandwiches or toast were rare things. That and I had to put my sweet tooth on the back burner.

I tried points a few years ago, and it was WAY too ditzy for me. Too much planning.

But yes - having a pantry and fridge stocked with core foods makes all the difference (lots of low fat popcorn, forgotten about that!) Its a good thing I'm done, because my husband and I switched responsibilities and he is grocery shopping now(!)

Oh, and another thing....I've eaten my weight at Disney with no restrictions and have only gained maybe a pound for the whole week. It doesn't hold true for everyone (and showing a little restraint would move you farther on the weightloss path), but most people walk so much at Disney, and really don't snack much (we eat big dinners, but moderate breakfasts and lunches and are too busy to stop for much more than the "traditional" dole whip or visit to the Norway bakery) that they don't gain nearly as much as they thought they would.

(However, don't ask about the cruise.)

In Jan 04 when I got home from Disney and DD had turned 1 I joined WW. I "rewarded" myself $10Disney Dollars for every pound lost and "earned" $550DD for last Oct's trip. I'd still like to loose another 20-30 but I can't seem to find the motivation this time. I was happy just to keep the weight off for the holidays and then my Mom's been in the hospital for the past 10 weeks but was transfered out of ICU this week so I'm sure when things settle down here I'll be able to get back on track for our Oct trip.

That is a fantastic idea!!! :Pinkbounc ...I may just have to copy it!

This is a great thread! Over the past few years I've gained a whopping 107 lbs. Some of this is due to spending alot of time on prednisone. Most of is from the obvious reason - first pig at the trough. I'm planning on taking my DGS to WDW in Dec. and would at least like to be able to catch him if he gets loose. Mind if I join you guys?

Well the first thing I did was give up non-diet soda (1 to 2 a day) and Dunkin Donuts everyday. I would get a coffee with cream & sugar and bagel-just plain but still not a great idea for someone who needs to loose weight. I lost 10 pounds in 2 weeks doing this. Then I joined WW (before core) and the points really worked for me. I'm an accountant and the idea of budgeted my food intake worked. It made me stop eating Oreos=they just weren't worth 1 point each.

In September I stopped going to WW because of a work conflict and I've been off plan. Since my Mom's been in the hospital I've started eating bagels again & of course coffee-I try to bring my own Fat Free 1/2 and 1/2 but not always. And I've been doing fast food on the way to/from the hospital and I'm never home so I haven't been the grocery store to buy good food or home to prepare it. I've gained about 5 pounds in the past 10 weeks she's been in the hospital. BUT...I am going to get back on track! I even went to shopping today and did buy GOOD food! And I'm changing my work schedule so I'll probably join WW again.

Do those of you on core miss cold cuts? I guess I could just use my flex points for those and the bread....
