Dieting for Disney

As I had expected... being at my cousin's hasn't been good. She literally has nothing to eat but snacks. I'm going to try to get home as much as possible to eat at least one good meal a day. What's worse is her internet is all screwy, so I can't access the website to figure out my calories and such.

I weighed in at her house this morning and was at 187.9.. which is 2.7 pounds heavier than last week. Well... she does have a home gym... so I'm going to spend my time off there. But I also tore my rotator cuff, again (no big surprise there.. it happens a lot more than you would realize).

My face does look a lot skinnier though! I can see my cheekbones!

A little vent on the side, I was working yesterday and a woman came in... total witch! Well just to put it in perspective... she claimed her faux Louis Vuitton bag was real (which I know it wasn't by 1) the feel of it and 2) the weight of it)... but it was the gosh darn closest fake back I have ever seen (FYI it was falling apart... and if I spent $2100 on a bag and it was falling apart and it was fairly new, the color hadn't changed on it yet, I would be very ticked off.) Anyways, spent an hour helping her with everything... nothing we had she liked... we didn't have her sizes, and then when she checked out... she had about $200 worth of stuff... and it was too much for her so she only bought $50. I mean.. common! You talk about your LV bag blah blah blah... but then you tell me you can't afford the clothes you want... OH PEOPLE!

My weigh in is tomorrow but I decided to go ahead an weigh myself today because I felt a little lighter. Well, last Monday I was at 185 lbs and today I weighed 184!:woohoo: I was am so happy!! I am still going to weigh in tomorrow and who knows, maybe I will be down another pound. I did eat some french fries this week. This is the first time in a couple of months that I have eaten them and guess what - they tasted horrible! They tasted so greasy - Yuck! I can honestly say that I don't crave them anymore!

This past week I did a little exercising, but walked more than usual. Since the mornings tend to be cooler right now, I plan on walking every morning. Oh, and when I put my jeans on this morning (fresh from the dryer), they weren't as tight around the waist as they usually are! :yay:

Bryan - Glad to hear everything worked out for you! I love it when things aren't as bad as doctors originally thought.

Question to all - How on earth do you people workout so much? I am in awe when people say they ran so many miles, then worked out for so long with weights. I try to walk about 45 minutes and feel slightly like a wimp after reading your posts! Any tricks you would like to share?!

Hope everyone has a great week!

Teacher31 Please don't feel wimpy by your 45 minutes of walking. That is a wonderful accomplishment and worthy of praise and adoration. As far as how I can do as much as I do, it would be due to the support that I have at home and the motivation that I get here on WISH. DW and the kids know how important it is to me to achieve my best possible physique and they understand that I am really doing it for them. What I am doing now is extending my life as well as my quality of life. This, in turn, will allow me to have a better life with them. So I may get off work at 5 pm. Go straight to the gym and stay there until 7:30 or 8 pm. That also means that I have a greater chance of overdoing my workout which can lead to injury and it could also mean that I talk too much while I am in there so it takes me longer. But I know I will never be a bodybuilder. I just want to build a better body for myself.

Amy Congrats on the weight loss. As they say on the Biggest Loser, a pound loss is still a loss. That has always been what has motivated me to keep on trying. Everytime I saw one pound come off the scale, I wanted another and another. It really helps in keeping your energy levels up. Great job!!

BeckyIt is very hard to stay on track when you are in a different atmosphere, such as your cousin's. Just do your best to stay on the path for success. We all give into temptation. I gave in today by taking a nap instead of going to the gym like I said I was going too. I will pay for it tomorrow when I go because I will work myself that much harder. Here is a little tip that I have done in the past. When there is nothing in the house but tempting snacks that you know you shouldn't eat, find a picture of you in the best shape you have been in or a picture of someone you would like to look like and paste it all over the fridge and cabinets. When you are going for the food, you will see those pictures and it can be used as a trigger for you to stay away from the "junk food".

Hope everyone is having a great day and we are all looking forward to a better new week! Let's get out there and succeed.

Bryan

Bryan: Thanks... It's really hard here since I have to be here so much and it's quite a distance from my house. She really has nothing to eat but junk. Well she has a lot of corn, but I don't like corn. I have to figure out what I'm going to do for my meals...

Tomorrow I'm going home for dinner after my meeting at work. Tuesday I will eat dinner at work since that's where I'll be... Wednesday and Thursday will be my other two tough days. I don't know what time they are getting back on Friday. So I may be eating dinner here on Friday also.

When I pulled into the mall parking lot today I heard the bad noise coming from my rear driver-side wheel. I got out and sure enough my wheel was loose. Last time I heard it, the lug nuts were loose and since I went to the same place... I'm assuming its the same problem. But since its the same wheel, I'm worried its my wheel bearing. That's all I need more problems with my car.

Guys I'm really sorry... the next few days are probably gonna be really bad for me and I'm gonna be really negative... I feel it, I know it. Not only am I staying at my cousin's and am by myself (I have horrible problems being alone, ergo I will never move out of my parents' until I have someone to live with), and all the problems with my car and I don't have my mechanic anymore (it was my ex.. he always fixed my car), but my ex is using again and I thought he was over it... and passed it... but I realized that... regardless of what I do or say... he's not going to stop... and I'm afraid he's gonna hurt himself or worse... because he has no self control and won't tell people "no"... It bothers me so bad that he'd give up the one person who actually cares for him and his wellbeing for that #&^#..

I know.. I don't need people like that in my life... but I have this thing where if I don't have control it tears me apart.. I'm always trying to save the world... but worse.. watching someone I care so much for do something like that to themselves...

Ok.. sorry.. I had to get it out of my system.. and the thing is.. it doesn't matter how many people I talk to.. I never feel better.

It has been a while since anyone has posted a positive quote for the day so here is one for everyone.

"Do your best. That is all anyone can ask you to do. Coach, no it's not. With all do respect, you demanded more from us. You demanded perfection. Now, I'm not perfect. None of us are but this team has won every game until now. This team is perfect and if it is all the same to you Coach, that is the way we want to leave her tonight."

From the movie "Remember the Titans"

We all have those moments where we wonder if we can do it. We don't know if our best is good enough. That's why we are here. We are here to encourage each other through the times when our best isn't good enough.

Have a great night everyone!

Excellent post Bryan! Sometimes we all need a little reminding that we can succeed!:thumbsup2

Great news everyone! I had today off from work (but I have to work Saturday) so I went to the gym early. While I was there I thought I would weigh in to see how much weight I put on during that 2 week time frame that I was out of commission with my neck. Well, lo and behold, I didn't gain. I actually lost more weight. Since the beginning of February, I am down 30 pounds. I literally have only 5 more to go to reach my goal weight but I probably wil go down a few extra because I want to treat myself with a pizza. It has been a long time since I have had one and I feel like I have earned it. (Psychologically, I don't know if I will allow myself to have one even though I know it will be ok.)

I wanted to thank all of you for being such a motivation for me to be able to continue with this level of intensity for the last 3 months. You gals are awesome!!!:cheer2: :grouphug:

I know it's been a while since I posted, but I have still been trying to keep up with all of the postings.

I wanted to post because I realized it will be a year ago tomorrow since I started my better eating and active lifestyle. I have lost a total of 62.5 pounds, and only have 4 more to go to hit my goal. I can finally see the light!!

Bryan- I can relate to your wanting pizza once you reach your goal. I myself love cheese curds. Every Tuesday and Friday I drive past the cheese store 4 times during the work day, and see their "fresh cheese curds" sign. I told myself that when I reach my goal, I am actually going to stop and grab a bag, they are one of my favorite things to eat. :)

Keep up the good work everyone. I know it's a lot of work both physically & mentally, but it is WORTH IT!

That's amazing! I only hope to lose that much weight in a year. How did you do it (more specific than eating better and active lifestyle)? What were your challenges? How did you overcome them?

I can talk a lot of motivation... but I have such a hard time really losing weight. I think maybe I'm too stressed out (my manager told me to take an hour lunch break and mall walk).

I have really been watching what I eat. My wife is also losing weight and has so far lost 35 pounds. We are sticklers for healthy grocery shopping, even my kids get in on the action. As much as it kills us (we are also on a tight budget), we will spend more money on an item if we can buy a non fat version, or low cal version of the same item. You would be amazed at what we can make for supper with only a few grams of fat per serving. That credit goes to my wife, she has really done great at finding recipes on sparkpeople.com, etc.

My normal day consists of at least 20 minutes on the eliptical or treadmill before work, and at least another 30 minutes of walking in the evening. I have averaged about 70 minutes per day of exercise. And, when I hear people say they don't have time, I like to chuckle. We also have 3 active daughters, and are on the run a lot. Compared to most people, we are extremely busy, and I think "I don't have time" is an excuse. I just had to add that in there, I hear a lot of people say that. If we can find time to exercise, anybody can.

I face challenges every day. Today for example, was a going away party for a fellow employee. Tables were lined with pot luck "treats". As much as it killed me, I only took one of the muffins I brought (I knew they were 100 calorie and .2 grams of fat), and 2 small portions of "other things". Trust me, I could have taken 10 times that amount, but I had to control myself. I just think about how many miles I'd have to walk to walk that off :)

The best motivation comes when people notice the weight loss. It makes me feel AWESOME when people comment on how nice I look. That usually makes my day, and keeps me motivated. Just keep it up, once you get on a roll, you will be so happy with yourself! :thumbsup2

Thanks for the info!

Well my week of hell is over! Thank goodness! Now time to get my butt back into gear and back into action!

It's supposed to get cold around these parts, so it looks like I'll have to bust out my kickboxing!

Ok, I said before I was going to post my food. And today I am definately going to do it because I ate a lot of junk! I did stay under my calorie limit though.

I did my strength training today (if you want the list, I'll type it up), and took a 30 minute walk with the dogs. I'm planning on going to the park soon and taking a 15 - 20 minute hike also. I want to burn off those extra calories!

Breakfast:
.5 c Fiber1
.5 c 2% milk

Lunch:
1 c prune juice
1 hamburger roll
.25 c sloppy joe
5 baby carrots
5 grape tomatoes
1 c lettuce
10 sprays ranch Salad Spritzer
1 maple glazed donut :sad2:

Snacks:
1 large banana
2 oz potato chips :guilty: (I was starving!... and I have been craving potato chips forever)

Dinner:
1.5 oz meatloaf
.5 c bake potato (no skin)
1 T salsa
.25 c beets

Total Calories: 1515

Just a quick Hi to say that I'm back!
Vacation was great!
Thanks for checking in with me Bryan and for posting my miles!
I needed the "family" support to keep up with my workouts
even though I was on vacation!
Being at the resort I was in, I was able to really put in some
serious workout time. I ran almost everday, and used the gym.
It was a nice vacation, but it was even better to get back
on board with some aggressive training!

Also, I talked with Twotoohappy a little today. She is having a great time while at WDW. Let me tell you what kind of "animal" she is though. Here she is on vacation and she still got up this morning and did a 5 mile walk/run and 15 miles on the bike. That is dedication to really wanting to be fit. I am so proud of her and what she has accomplished.

Bryan

Thanks Bryan!!!!!
Your support and friendship means the world to me:goodvibes
I couldn't have found a better brother if I tried ;)
Great job on the Cancer walk and especially
on losing 30 pounds!
I'll say it again...
You Rock!
and for once I can post that
I had more miles than you for the week:dance3:

I can't wait to lose my weight and hit up Disney World! I'm so excited...

Though I must say I'm more excited to move to FL and get my own store... I just don't know when they will be opening one up within an hour of WDW.

Where do you work?

Hi Everyone....haven't checked in for a bit so I wanted to say HI!

I am still on course as far as food, 12lbs down as of this morning but my exercise motivation is still in the toilet.
Hope everyone has a great week!

Ok... I have to make this semi-fast because I have to go to sleep because I have to open tomorrow.

It somehow slipped my mind that I had to close tonight... so dinner was really bad for me. I was gonna grab a banana on my way out for a snack and forgot, then didn't get to eat dinner til 7:45! Anyways... here's my food log for the day:

Breakfast:
Maple Glazed Donut (I can't resist!)

Snack:
Handful of baby carrots

Lunch:
1.5 oz American Cheese
1 T Smart Balance Light
2 piece whole wheat bread
.5 c beets

Dinner:
Healthy Choice Turkey dinner

And right now:
2 oz of meatloaf.

Total calories for the day: 1212

As for tomorrow, I'm hoping to get some hiking in even though it rained all day today before it starts raining again tomorrow. Otherwise kickboxing (I can feel my body start to hurt).
