Dieting for Disney

I just wanted to say Good Morning!

It's a new day, let's get the most out of it:goodvibes
Believe in yourselves and your goals!

Today's a looooong gym day, but I have to hit the running store
before the gym. I've got to pick up some shock blocks for my trip:thumbsup2

Becky-

Don't kick yourself over your caloric intake. Just take in less tomorrow. Other than the Kielbasa, you have really limited yourself. I also think that it is better when you write down what you eat. Plus, you hiked for 30 minutes -that's great!! Keep it up and you'll see more changes soon! :goodvibes

Oh! I wasn't kicking myself for the calories just the kielbasa which we all know is really high in fat!

I decided that posting what I eat here will help me lose weight. I'm not sure if I'll do it every day or not yet. But I figure if people see what I'm eating, then I need to be more careful of what I eat. LOL!

Hey everyone! It is great to be able to come here tonight and see how everyone is doing. I am in a fantastic mood so I hope my enthusiasm doesn't offend anyone. I am just really on cloud 9 right now. I will explain.

I went to the gym and started to prepare for my workout. Well, I decided to get on the scale to see how I was doing. I am down 25 pounds since the beginning of February.:yay: :yay: :yay: I am only 11 pounds away from my goal weight. I am a looong way away from my goal look but I am going to keep trying to keep up the progress. Well, when I found that out, I had a wonderful workout. I did a 40 minute chest workout and 90 minutes on the bike. If I hadn't got such a late start, I would have kept on going but I wanted to get home and see the family a little bit today.

Plus, I will tell you the truth. There is nothing in this world like watching Biggest Loser while doing cardio. You talk about motivation. Here they are in the last week and every one of them lost more than 11 pounds and one lost a total of 144 pounds on the show. That's insane!!!

Ok. I will try to calm down a little bit. I will end this with my positive quote for the day.

"You ain't never nothing but a WINNER!!" It may sound Southern and it is but so am I. This comes from Paul "Bear" Bryant.

Have a GREAT day everyone!

I'm going to skip on posting my food for today. I got outta work 45 min late! And then my ex wanted to hang out.

But I did hike 20 minutes today!

Well, I decided to get on the scale to see how I was doing.
I am down 25 pounds since the beginning of February.:yay: :yay: :yay:

:woohoo: You Rock Bryan!
That's excellent that you're so close to your goal weight!
Keep up the excellent work and you'll be there in no time!
The DFD and DDD's are proud to have you on their team:goodvibes

Went for a run yesterday, and I'm eating really well!
I can't wait for WDW in a week and a 1/2:dance3:

Let's all move ahead and make our dreams come true!
Have a great day everyone!

Today is going to be rough for me. Since I got home from work last night so late, I didn't take a sleep aid because I didn't want to be overly groggy when I had to wake up at 7:30 this morning. Of course that totally backfired on me. I barely slept. I laid down at about midnight... not sure what time I fell asleep, I believe sometime before 1. But woke up at 3 with my brother and sister making so much noise! But did fall back to sleep and woke up again around 5. Couldn't fall back to sleep after that. I laid in bed until 7... decided I should get up.

Thankfully, I work a short shift, so if I'm really tired I can nap, and I have tomorrow off and don't work again until Friday night. I hope to recooperate in that time.:headache:

Not to mention I have bronchitis and I think a cold is coming on... again.

Edit:
Ok I'm just complaining so much because I'm so tired! :(

Ok.. turn cold into a flu... I'm taking tomorrow and friday morning off.

I did it!!!!!!!!!! Well, almost. I walked 3 miles today after having done 1 on Sunday, 1.5 on Monday and nothing yesterday. Honestly, a huge shoutout to twotoohappy because I literally kept thinking of your quote about second winds when I was at the point of either stopping after lap one or trudging on. Sorry for the run-on sentence there, guys! Best of all, besides my 13 y.o. joining me, is that I feel GOOD tonight!

My quote for the day: Just do it. (Sorry, but I'm a pretty simple person when it comes to quotes. Didn't want to quote Pooh again.)

Teacher31 - That's great. Knowing that you have been battling some issues with your surgery and just now trying to start up again, that is a huge accomplishment. I know I can speak for all of us and say that we are very proud of you.

Beckwhy - I sure hope you get to feeling better soon. I am sending some pixiedust: pixiedust: pixiedust: your way hoping it helps.

Liz - Thanks for the kind words but your words of inspiration is helping me with my perspiration which is getting me closer to my goals so thank you!!!

Today - I wasn't able to do any lifting. I am having some issues with my kneck so I went to the Chiropractor. He basically said that it is time to take it to the next step so he is referring me to a doctor.I have an appoinment in 2 weeks to get a couple of shots to help with my kneck issues. I sure hope it does the trick. Otherwise, I did do my cardio and got in another 26 miles today. I have already went over what I did last week. That feels good. I am planning on doing at least another 25 miles tomorrow which would put me over the 100 mile mark for the week. I have an event to work on Friday so I am not certain if I will be able to do anything then or not. If not, I will still feel like I made a contribution to the Triple D team. I also have found out that there are 2 Cancer walks coming up in the next couple of weeks and I am planning on doing both of those. Ok. I think that is it for right now. I don't have a quote for today but I will try to have one for tomorrow.

Take care everyone!!!
Bryan:cheer2: :grouphug: :yay:

Hey everyone!!:hippie:

I am so sorry that I has been gone for so long or at least to me it seems a long time. (3 or 4 weeks)

I just wanted to update myself because I find this is the BEST thread of supporters and well wishers out there for me. I always keep forgetting to come on and share my progress. I guess I did not feel that I had nothing SUPER to share.:sad2: But then as soon as I started looking back on these weeks that maybe I did have something to say and I hope you don't mind me tooting my own horn:woohoo:

Well, I was not here for a week. I actually was on a vacation.:scared1: (without my DH I went to his family's house) I know it is scary to leave on one after you have started to make a real change in your life. I was afraid at first but then I realized I needed to do this or how am I going to be ready for WDW at Christmastime. But the good news was that I actually did VERY GOOD at sticking with my committments. I actually got a free guest membership for a local gym with a pool to keep up with my water aerobics.:cool1:

I have never been real good at watching calories while on vacation. I am sure that I am not the only one but this was not a time for me to go completely off the deep end. Well, it must be starting to be second nature because whenever I felt myself still ordereing and eating the right things. I treated myself only once that week with anything I wanted but to my surprise I had very little off than normal.:thumbsup2

It was good to get back into my normal routine when I got home. I jumped back into everything I have done before. But then I got sick. Yea, not good. I was laid up for 4 days before I was better. I could hear my body yell "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!" But thanks to DH and many sugar free popcicles I am doing so much better!

And that brings me up to this week that is almost over. I have jumped back into my routine and am doing better than ever. I have now gone up to 60 min of water aerobics with no problems and am even motivating a girl in the next class after mine. She is just as big as me if not bigger. She has started this week to come to my class and likes to "challenge" me on our workout.:rolleyes1 Oh yea, we just have fun but at the same time help eachother to get through the workout. She is where I was just 8 weeks ago. (She only goes for about 30-40 minutes for now) It feels good being there for somebody else.:cheer2: :cheer2:

Well, I hope that I have not bored anybody. I hope you are all doing well. It sure seems like it out there. Keep up the great work everybody!! I know we can do it!:grouphug: Thanks for providing such a wonderful place.:yay:

Wow!! There are so many people here that are so motivated. I was pumped last week, then got a stomach bug, lost 6 pounds (total) within a week-and-a-half, then gained back 2 lbs. (I am assuming it was water weight that I put back on). Now, I am finding myself stressed due to school (mine and the kiddos), I graduate in one month (finally!!), and then we go to WDW a month after that. I want so badly to lose at least 10-15 lbs. before our trip, but I just don't seem to have that get-up-and-go like a did a couple of weeks ago. Is this normal? Has anyone else had this happen to them? I have kept my calories around 1200, though some days have been less. Do you think that my body has stopped dropping weight because of my intake? I have been doing some simple exercises at home with 5 lb weights. It's important to me that I lose the weight, plus DH really wants me to get back to a healthy weight & BMI as well.

I have a membership to a gym, but I just can't get up and go. I am lazy. There, I said it. I find myself in front of the computer or sitting in front of the TV instead of getting up and working out. Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Bryan - how did you do it? What motivated you to get out there everyday?

Sorry about the rambling!

I did it!!!!!!!!!! ... Best of all, besides my 13 y.o. joining me, is that I feel GOOD tonight!

Yeah:woohoo: I'm so happy that you were able to do your walks!
Even better, it was with your child!
I love the feeling of accomplishment; it really does make you feel good!
(btw - glad you liked the quote:goodvibes )

Amyz00- If your calorie count goes too low then you might feel sluggish.
Also, I try to make sure I have enough carbs/protein to keep the energy up.
A good rule of thumb for protein is 1/3 your weight in grams if you're
not that active, and 1/2 your body weight in grams if you're active.
Stress can slow down weight loss too unfortunately.
Try to pick a time to go to the gym when you're already out.
I head to the gym right from work because if I stop at home,
I won't head back out again.

Evita_W- Welcome back from vacation!
Nice job keeping up the healthy eating habits:thumbsup2
It's so hard to stay focused on vacation!
I'm glad you're feeling better and back on track!

NEVERENOUGHWDW- How's your week going?

Becky - rest, take care of yourself and feel better soon:hug:

Bryan- I am so proud to have you on both my teams!
Your constant high levels of work and dedication keep me on track:goodvibes
What kind of shots in the neck do you need?
That's really scary! Have you gone to a massage therapist yet?
When I threw my back out right before the 1/2,
I went to a massage therapist and it was incredible!
I'd definitely try it! Hope your neck gets better soon:wizard:

Ok, I think that's everyone, if I missed somebody,
I'm sorry - you're still important!!!!!!

As for me, the day is sunny and warm and I'm heading
back outside:daisy:

Hi Everyone,

There are some great accomplishments out there!!!!!:cool1:

I am staying on track but the weight is starting to drop slowly now so this is the time I really see it as a challenge.

I am so happy I found this thread, makes me really look at what I am doing & eating. I am also doing a food diary which has made me much more accountable.:)

Well, again I'm not going to post what I ate... but I'm sure I'm within my caloric limits. I'm actually scared I'm below, but I'm sure all the OJ I drank added up.

I did get in a 30 minute hike today. I don't know if it's good that I went out today and hiked, but I did it and I think the fresh air and sunshine helped!

I'm still feeling really icky, and I have gotten worse as the day went on, but I haven't taken any medicine, since the only medicine I have is NiQuil.

Edit:
I don't know if I said this yet, but I have been dieting for years... always trying to lose the weight. I haven't actually put on any weight (fluxuated between 190 and 200 though).
For the month of January I lost 5.8 pounds. I was still dating my boyfriend and my birthday fell at the end. I splurged a bit.
For February 6 pounds. I had gotten my new job and found people who were supportive of me.
March came around and I only lost 1.6 pounds. A major disappointment for me. I don't particularly know what caused the very minimal weight loss...
But come Tuesday, I grabbed a pair of jeans from my dresser that I knew didn't fit me when I started my job (I know this because I went out and bought new jeans). Well, I thought I'd try them on for giggles and they fit! They are "ultra low waist" and I had to keep pulling them up. If that means they are too big, well the next size down is too small (muffin top going on, I figure another 5 or 10 pounds they'll fit).
Anyways, it made me really happy to have those jeans fit again!

I wish that all of you could be with me right now to see how excited I am. Reading all of the posts from today has sent me into a frenzy of enthusiasm for everyone here. There are so many wonderful things to talk about that I really don't know where to start. My first hope is that I don't make this too long. Here we go:

Beckwhy What I just read about you trying on the pair of pants is an incredible motivation factor. It proves that if you are diligent, you can succeed. I know I can speak for the team and say that we are all very proud of you. Now, with that said, please take it easy until you are over your bout with the flu. We all want to loose weight and look or feel better but in order for that to happen, we have to be healthy first. Be careful.

NeverenoughWDW It is common for a person to have a "slow down" period. There are several reasons that this will happen but I will try to limit to just a couple. 1) Your body is getting used to your routine. This is called the plateau effect. You are still doing the same things that got you onto the right path so you don't understand why you are now stagnate. Simple: Change up your routine. Have one day where you splurge on your diet so when you go back to it, it will shock your body into getting pass the plateau. Intensify your workouts. Don't workout longer but smarter and with more intensity. You will be amazed what kind of results you will have. Ok. I only talked about one but I will be happy to talk about others on another post. Hope that helps.

Evitaw What a testiment to a lifestyle change your post was. It is always hard to stick to a diet when away from what is the norm. It sounds like what you did was make a decision that most people have never been able to truly make. You have moved your desire from your head to your heart. Once you can do that, nothing can stop you from succeeding. All we can do is step back, hold onto your coattails and watch with amazement. Great job!!

Liz What a ROCK you are! I feel like you are a long distance sister everytime I read your posts. It is almost like we are sharing the same brain because we have sooo many of the same thoughts. Difference is, with you being a teacher, you can verbalize alot better than I can. I haven't done a massage therapist due to the nature of the injections. What I have is some sort of calcium deposit forming at the base of my kneck on both sides. It makes it very hard to lift, turn and even eat or swallow due to some extreme pain (at times). I have used a massager at home and had the Chiropractor do a lot of massage and therapy on my kneck to no avail. I promise that I will let you know as many of the details that I can and the results of the procedure. On another note, I think you will be happy with the mileage that I will be reporting tomorrow on the Triple D's. It's a lot better than last week.

Amyz00 I saved you for last because of the nature of your question. Asking what my motivation is/was for my recent success is not a easy thing to explain but I will try. I will actually have to break it up into 3 answers. 1) A look. For the last 10 years I have wanted my body to look a certain way. I have gotten close a couple of times but never achieved that goal. (Even though during these times I received many compliments from a lot of different people it wasn't good enough for me.) 2) Being on the Triple D Challenge Team with Twotoohappy. Knowing that I am contributing to a goal of helping my team win and to have the most miles both as a team and individually has ignited my competitive spirit more than I ever thought it would. I was happy to join when Liz contacted me about it but I really thought my main motivation would be challenging her each week. I have gotten on there with these people that do all of these races all of the time and I am competing with them and so far doing pretty well. I have made a personal goal to be in the top 5 of all of the team members at the end of the year. This is going to take a LOT of miles, consistency and dedication. 3) You Guys (or Gals as it may be). It may sound a little corny or trite but knowing that I am the OP of this thread, I feel like if I don't do my exercise and cardio that I have let all of you down. This is all of the motivation that I need.

Now with all of that said, I am going to post my exercise results tomorrow instead of today. I really haven't done anything fantastic this week but it is better than last week. I know I was sick last week but it was still a let down for me. I will also go on record that as soon as I get my kneck passed this issue, I am going to kick myself into another gear at the gym. This doesn't mean that I am going to spend more time in there but I am going to change my intensity levels again. I will keep you all updated.

No positive quotes for tonight but I am hopeful that will all that has been said, you can find something positive out of it. Have a great night!

Bryan

Thank you thank you for all you kind words!! That is why I love it here! I may not know all of you really well but I do know that you all are the nicest people I have ever met. It is so wonderful to have a place where I can come and share and not feel judged by it.

We can do this! I know we can!:cheer2: Little changes create a whole new us. I am just glad I am finally getting it.:teacher:

Well, not much to say today. I just wanted to say THANK YOU mostly. Oh and "wish me luck" because my water aerobics teacher wants to teach me how to swim. (I know, you already thought I knew, but, no....and frankly, I am a little scared):scared1: You never know, I just may learn this time and then I will have 2 favorite workouts. (Water Aerobics and Swimming):cool1:

Keep it up everyone! I love you guys!:grouphug:

Hi All,

I LOVE it here! Terrific support system!

We need to plan a Dieting for Disney Meet!!!

I have to say I just hit 10lbs loss and people have started noticing......I don't really "feel" it yet but 10 lbs is 10lbs!!!!

Thank you Bryan for all the ideas & info!

Thanks, everyone, for your kind words and support. I know that I just "joined" this thread, but my I am looking forward to losing weight and inches with the rest of you! I have been so busy with my school work that I have not done much of anything. I am determined that this is going to change! I just want to feel and look better. I want to go into any store and try something on and be pleased with how it looks on me. I am tired of wearing "big" shirts to "cover" my mid-section!

You all inspire me to get off my behind and do something about it! I just want to say thanks for sharing your stories and I hope to give you some good news soon! So, here's to losing 1-2 pounds by next Monday!

Amy: we are here to help each other! :)

Since Sunday is my official weigh in day, I have to say standing on the scale this morning left me in shock. I'm down 4 pounds from last week! Part of me is really excited! But another part of me thinks its unhealthy to lose so much weight. All I did was go for a couple hikes and watch my calories...

As for my plans this week, its supposed to snow again, ick, and rain... so perhaps I'll do some kickboxing until it warms up later in the week.

Good luck to everyone this week!
