ChrisAlli - Welcome to our family!
I understand exactly what you are talking about. If you have read through these pages, you know that we have ALL went through that stage of feeling like we can't do it. Feeling like we can't succeed but I am here to tell you, YES! YOU CAN! There are some very basic keys in making any diet or lifestyle change obtainable. Let's see if I can name some so it will be easier for you.
1) Don't get overwhelmed! Don't look at it as if you don't loose 30 pounds then you failed. That is not so. If you try as hard as you can and only loose 10 pounds, then that is 10 pounds that you are not carrying anymore.
2) Don't look at it as a "DIET". We are not dieting here. We are making a lifestyle change so we can be healthier and happier. We are making choices. That's all.
3) Don't get down on yourself. Understand that it is ok to "cheat" every once in a while. Just don't do it all of the time. Set a goal. Make it achievable. Example: I will get on the treadmill 3-4 days per week for 20 minutes a day. Achieve that goal and let yourself indulge on a sweet snack that you crave. Don't over do it. Just get enough that will satisfy your craving.
4) Stay away from the negative people that will be surrounding you. As soon as you say you are going to try to live healthier, people will come out of everywhere to try to tell you what you are doing is a waste of time. Remember, what you are doing is for your on good. Eventually, the
nay-sayers will come around. (That usually happens when you have dropped 2 sizes and everyone starts to tell you that you are looking great.)
5) Last, but maybe most important; HAVE FUN!! One of the main reasons people fail is because they look at diet and exercise as a chore. There is NO way that it can be fun so they just dread doing it. Have fun with it. Find someone to walk with. Find a training partner. Take up dancing, bike riding. Really anything that will keep your attention.
I hope this helps not only ChrisAlli but everyone else in our family as well. Blestmom, THANK YOU for responding. I do know how difficult the Summer time can be on any kind of routine. Keep up those good spirits and hang in there. With focus and determination, you will succeed!
Everyone, have a great day!!

Everyone, have a great day!!
I agree with everything Bubba said. Make a small goal for yourself at first and be proud of that accomplishment. Please feel free to post as often as you like whether it's asking a question, asking for help, or wanting to share some successes with us. We're one big happy family!!
I'm a relatively new family member too and this group has welcomed me with open arms. You can do it!!!!
Anyway, we decided to spend the week up there and it was ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS. I love this state of mine, but staying up high in the mountains reminds me of how beautiful it really is here. His team finished in 9th place in the country which I think is fantastic! Of course everyone would like to be #1, but the fact that they even played, and placed in the top 10 I thought was amazing.
I need to appreciate my successes instead of focusing on the negative.
I'm getting closer though. Hopefully I will have done it by the end of August. I did take measurements today and lost 1&1/4 inches between my waist/hips/thigh in one week.

But as I was reaching for it, I did remember and I was glad I did. As I thought about it, not only would I have been letting you all down but I would have been letting myself down. I don't want to do that. It sounds like you are doing great with your challenge as well. I wish there was a way to reward everyone here for the wonderful job that you are all doing. I know that it can be said that loosing the weight, having more energy and being healthier is reward enough. But I really would like to do something more tangeable(?). I just don't know how and make it fair. If anyone has any ideas, please let me know.
and give you all a few cheers
