Dieting for Disney

ChrisAlli - Welcome to our family! :welcome: I understand exactly what you are talking about. If you have read through these pages, you know that we have ALL went through that stage of feeling like we can't do it. Feeling like we can't succeed but I am here to tell you, YES! YOU CAN! There are some very basic keys in making any diet or lifestyle change obtainable. Let's see if I can name some so it will be easier for you.

1) Don't get overwhelmed! Don't look at it as if you don't loose 30 pounds then you failed. That is not so. If you try as hard as you can and only loose 10 pounds, then that is 10 pounds that you are not carrying anymore.
2) Don't look at it as a "DIET". We are not dieting here. We are making a lifestyle change so we can be healthier and happier. We are making choices. That's all.
3) Don't get down on yourself. Understand that it is ok to "cheat" every once in a while. Just don't do it all of the time. Set a goal. Make it achievable. Example: I will get on the treadmill 3-4 days per week for 20 minutes a day. Achieve that goal and let yourself indulge on a sweet snack that you crave. Don't over do it. Just get enough that will satisfy your craving.
4) Stay away from the negative people that will be surrounding you. As soon as you say you are going to try to live healthier, people will come out of everywhere to try to tell you what you are doing is a waste of time. Remember, what you are doing is for your on good. Eventually, the
nay-sayers will come around. (That usually happens when you have dropped 2 sizes and everyone starts to tell you that you are looking great.)
5) Last, but maybe most important; HAVE FUN!! One of the main reasons people fail is because they look at diet and exercise as a chore. There is NO way that it can be fun so they just dread doing it. Have fun with it. Find someone to walk with. Find a training partner. Take up dancing, bike riding. Really anything that will keep your attention.

I hope this helps not only ChrisAlli but everyone else in our family as well. Blestmom, THANK YOU for responding. I do know how difficult the Summer time can be on any kind of routine. Keep up those good spirits and hang in there. With focus and determination, you will succeed!

Everyone, have a great day!!

Hi all. I've just got a sec to drop by and say hello! I wanted to welcome ChrisAlli! :woohoo: :woohoo: You have come to the best place for support, info (as you've already experienced from Bubba) and, oh yes, did I mention support? ;) I agree with everything Bubba said. Make a small goal for yourself at first and be proud of that accomplishment. Please feel free to post as often as you like whether it's asking a question, asking for help, or wanting to share some successes with us. We're one big happy family!! :goodvibes I'm a relatively new family member too and this group has welcomed me with open arms. You can do it!!!!

I'm proud of everyone for going on a challenge this month!! Bubba - you're my inspiration! I wish I could give up sweets this month, but I know it's not likely to happen with all the social events going on. I'll still exercise portion control though (it worked in July!). My challenge will be to try to get some form of exercise everyday this month. That's not to say I'll run on the treadmill everyday, since I want to give my body a chance to rest too (some days will be yoga, or stretching, or walking with hubby). I just want to keep moving. I want to exceed the exercise goal I made for myself this month.

Is anyone else up for a challenge? Hope everyone is doing well and are staying cool! I'm positively melting!! Where's the smiley for melting? ;) Have a great week!

Bubba,
That is EXCELLENT advice! Okay, I said I would post my own personal challenge for this week, and it is to make my eating "intentional eating"...eating only when I am really and truly hungry, and stopping eating when I am full, and keeping an eye on emotional eating. That's a good goal for me this week. AND...I'm going to try to walk this week. Maybe not a lot, but at least some. I'm going to aim for 30 min. a day, which is usually less than I do, but probably reasonable given my schedule for the next few weeks.

Bubba,
and stopping eating when I am full,
Blestmom - I am going to wish you the best of luck on achieving your goal but I would like to add to your challenge just a little bit. I copied your quote to "stop eating when I am full". If I may elaborate just a little. If you eat until you are full, you have actually eaten too much. The best piece of advice that I could give on that is to eat until you are satisfied. As an example, it may take 4 slices of pizza to fill you up but it may take only one slice to satisfy your hunger. I'm not trying to be negative or rude and more than likely, this is what you meant by what you typed. But there are a lot of people that may not have thought of it this way. That's why I singled that phrase out. Otherwise, I really like the idea of getting away from "emotional" eating. That can be the death of all of us. That's when we really attack the sweets and comfort foods.

CJK - Thank you for those kind words but really it isn't that hard to eliminate sweets for a month. The first thing you have to do is to get rid of all of the sweets in your house and don't buy anymore. The good news is that this really doesn't include protein bars or protein drinks that I ingest on a daily basis. The reason is that these are healthy for you. Most of them are formulated to give you the protein and carbs that are healthy for your daily dietary needs. Usually, if I am having an attack where I feel like I have to have something sweet, I can get one of these and be satisfied. The only other part is the willpower. Can you say NO? If you can do that, you are homeward bound. :grouphug: :woohoo: :cheer2: :grouphug: :cool1: :sunny:  :Pinkbounc :cheer2: :woohoo: :grouphug:

Thanks for the welcome!!!

I'm going to try and stay away from the scale, that's always my downfall. If it doesn't move than I feel bad and eat!!!

So....my kids are 2 and 4 and still nap everyday. Instead of doing laundry, dishes and other house work, I'm going to walk for at least 45 minutes on the treadmill. I can do a mile and a half right now in that time frame.

The house work will get done....eventually.

I will also try to walk after the kids go to bed at night. Usually this is the time when I'm exhausted and DH and I usually sit in front of the TV. We also have an eliptical machine, so maybe we could work out together.

I really need to take time for me and do it for me. I never do that!

So thank you all again :grouphug:

Bubba,
Yeah, that's what I meant..."stop eating when I'm satisfied." Sometimes, I'll eat just the right amount at dinner. Then, when I'm talking with my kids some more, you know...lingering at the dinner table, I'll have just a little more of this, or a little more of that...even though I'm not hungry. It's just...there! So one of my goals this week is to really pay attention to that. Remove the food and keep talking...maybe over a nice cup of tea. Also not snacking while on the computer, etc. Eat only at meals and planned snacks. :goodvibes

bubba: Words to live by..........JUST SAY NO! Thanks!

ChrisAlli: You're absolutely right - housework can wait. You deserve to put YOU before housework!! :cheer2: :cheer2:

blestmom: I really like your challenge. Mind if I join in too? I want to eat until I'm satisfied too. You're onto something that could really help us for the rest of your lives.

I was wondering if any of you have some FUN exercising plans this summer? I usually stick with the same type of exercise (exercise equipment, yoga & walking). In a couple weeks, dh and I are going camping in a big nature park with lots of hiking trails. I'm sooo excited to get some exercise, while enjoying nature and the beauty of lakes and wildlife. Have you tried to do anything different this summer?

Blestmom That is a great challenge. I knew that is what you meant to say, stop when you are satisfied. I just wanted to clarify for the others that may have never thought of it that way. My DW used to be on a program at the Church that was called "Weigh Down". It's basic philosophy was to eat half of whatever is on your plate. Reason being that our eyes are always bigger than our stomachs so half is really all we need. It worked though. She lost over 20 pounds on that program. I think you will surprise yourself just by being more mindful of "needful" eating rather than "emotional" eating.

ChrisAlli We have said it here 100 times and you reiterated it. Stay off the scale. You are loosing weight. You are loosing fat. But you are probably going to tone up and gain a little muscle. My feelings on how to gauge if I am succeeding or not is simple. How do my clothes fit? Let that be your guide. I am also going to recommend you to make sure you are drinking LOTS of water and just for general health, make sure you are taking a vitamin supplement. Remember, we are here for you. We want you to succeed so as Momrek would say, I am going to put on my :cheer2: outfit for you to help you through the tough times.

CJK Great idea about finding new ways, more fun ways to get in your exercise. Hiking and bike riding along the coutryside is awesome for the cardiovascular system. So is Lionqueen's favorite - Swimming. I like to try to get out for a round of golf every once in a while. Which I know that doesn't sound like much but you have to understand a few things. I walk every hole and with as bad as I play, I get a lot of walking. Plus, with the heat that we are having, you can sweat off lots of calories. Also, for the last few days, I have been visiting the sauna. My A/C has been out so it was over 100 degrees in my house everyday. Just sitting at the computer typing, I would be sweating more than I did by doing 30 minutes of cardio. I have a friend that told me that she used to get a lot of exercise by going horseback riding. Apparently, you have to keep your abs tight to stabilize yourself throughout the ride so you are getting in a great ab workout right there.

On my next post, I am going to give a Top 10 list. It will be all about the benefits of having a great midsection. This doesn't mean you have to have the elusive 6-pack. It is just to give you that extra motivation to encourage you to keep shedding the layers that cover your abs up. I know it is working for me personally. But I do want that 6-pack. Talk to you soon. Hope you have a great, healthy day.

Hello my Disney family, and whew...it's glad to be back. I'd first like to apologize to everyone for my complete lack of posting. It seems like the summer time is the time when family comes from all over. It's SO wonderful to see them all, but it really puts a kink in my everyday routine, which isn't necessarily a bad thing :teeth:

Anyway, my cousins sons were in the Minor World Series which just so happened to be in Colorado. Of course it was in Steamboat Springs which is a 4 hr drive from my home  Anyway, we decided to spend the week up there and it was ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS. I love this state of mine, but staying up high in the mountains reminds me of how beautiful it really is here. His team finished in 9th place in the country which I think is fantastic! Of course everyone would like to be #1, but the fact that they even played, and placed in the top 10 I thought was amazing.

OK, on with the show...Now that I've explained my absence, I hope you all will forgive me. It took me some time to read over the posts, but am SO glad I did.

Bubba SO glad to hear that your knee was only a strain...GREAT NEWS!! Your posts sound so upbeat and it seems like you are really going for the 100% body makeover..RIGHT ON!!! The story about the girl at your work bothered me. I sincerely hope that is not the case, and if it is, I know that you, being an honorable and honest gentlemen, will steer her in the right direction. Also, AMAZING results on your weight loss!! :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: Now it's just bulking up for you, what a GREAT feeling that must be. I'm SO proud of you and you are an inspiration to us all..KEEP IT UP!!!

CJK I totally agree about "mixing up" the exercise, it's a great way to stay motivated and work all parts of your body by doing different things. I decided to split up my cardio daily and it's really working. I'll do elliptical for 35 mins then like treadmill for 35. It makes it easier to swallow in smaller increments, just works well for me.

ChrisAlli :welcome: :welcome: I am a SAHM also with 2 boys, I know exactly what you're going through!! Luckily my boys are a little older and it's a little easier for me now, but I can be a great support for you, I do know. Just to reiterate what everyone else has said, you MUST make time for you. Here is how I look at it. I want to be around for a very long time for my kids, and that means MAKING time for myself right now. They benefit everyday because my energy level has increased and I'm more active with them. And they will benefit for many more years as I am striving to be on this earth with them for a VERY long time. You can do it, and again, welcome!!!

BlestMom COUNT ME IN!!! Great challenge, I'd love to give it a go. Great to hear how you've been doing!!

Teacher Glad to hear from you again sounds like everything is going just great for you, can't wait to hear more!!!

Again, folks, so sorry for the lapse, but I have been doing the best I can. I was unable to go the gym at all for over 8 days and it was bothering me. But we did go on a 2 day hike (that was a KILLER lemme tell ya) and have been walking all over the place for a week.

As far as my Vegas Challenge, I was trying to lose 6lbs by Monday. I've only lost 3 so far, so don't think I'm gonna hit it...but I am FINE with that!! I've watched my eating and still done exercise and as long as I'm losing anything, I'm good! I leave for Vegas on Monday..SO EXCITED..so I will post when I get back..and hopefully a few more times before we leave.

Keep focused everyone, you are GREAT people and and AMAZING inspiration to me every day!!
Take Care

Hello everyone-
It's been a few days since I've visited, and boy did I miss a lot!

Bubba- What can I say? You're probably the most upbeat and truly selflessly motivated person I think I have ever "met. So good to hear that your knee wasn't as seriously injured as first thought. And way to go helping your new associate, I'm sure with your help she'll be running her 2 mile in 19 minutes!

ChrisAlli- Hello and welcome to the family from one newbie to another. You'll find that there is so much encouragement to be found with this wonderful group of people. I just had one thing to mention about what you said about finding time for exercising. How about getting your kids involved; turn on the music LOUD and FUN and dance around the house (heck you could even do it with feather dusters and big fluffy socks and dust the house at the same time) or taking walks with them, I remember when my kids were small I would plop them in the stroller and be walking all over the place (I was in GA at the time) They would actually take turns in the stroller and hopping in when tired!

CJK Bletsmom & Bubba- Good luck with your challenge,I'm all in for the challenge this month, I think I'll challenge myself to continue with the exercising, some kind everyday!

Lionqueen- thanks for the update. Sound like you've had a good week, how exciting to watch family doing so well! Have a great trip to vegas!

As for me I've been doing lots of excercise, and getting on the scale (Yes I feel GUILTY) it hasn't budged, but I've accepted it, my clothes are fitting better, so I'm telling myself I'm losing fat pounds and gaining muscle pounds, and staying even on the scale!
Have a great weekend everyone! :sunny:

:thumbsup2 TLQ - It is so wonderful to hear from you. I knew something had to be up as you never go so long without posting. It is great to hear how well your cousin's son did in the tournament. I know you are very proud. As far as not making your goal, that's ok. You have worked very hard and have done great. I am so proud of you and your success. I know you will be heading out to Vegas soon. I hope you have a great trip but I will say, Hurry Home! We miss you around here.

AlaskaMom - Thank you for those very kind words. I would like to say that I am confident in being able to help my new employee with her goals but I can't say that. She has already quit. She just stopped coming into work. I would do just about anything to have someone get hired that would stay for more than 3 months. But I will not let this stop me from my workouts. I have a goal for myself. I want to put on more size on my frame than I ever have before. I refuse to cheat and go the illegal route with drugs. If I can't get it through hard work, then I don't need it.

Ok everyone! It is almost the weekend. We are already on the 4th of August. Now, a couple of us have set forth challenges for this month. How are you doing on these challenges? I can tell you that I have stayed away from the sweets. I am also going to change the type of protein bar that I have been eating. I have only one more of the kind that has chocolate for the coating, but after that one is gone, I am going to one that has no coating to it at all. I am not even going to drink chocolate protein shakes. I am going to be very strong for all of us. (If you just knew how much I love chocolate chip cookies and ice cream, you would understand how big of a sacrifice this is for me.) I know you can do it! Keep us posted on your success. :grouphug: :woohoo: :cheer2: :Pinkbounc  :cool1: :thumbsup2

Good news for me, I finally budged off my plateau 4 pounds down. I guess it just took a while for all the exercise to catch up! I am doing real well with my aug challenges I set for myself: I have been exercising everyday! and have incresaed my water to 3-4 liters a day, and have remembered my multi vitamin everyday!
I hope everyone is having a great weekend :sunny:

Hey all, hope you all are looking forward to another week that will be healthier..I know I am..(cept my week isn't gonna be all the healthy).

AlaskaMom...YEAH!!!    Great job on getting off that plateau, those can really be killers!! You stuck in there and now can see the progress. We always say not to get on the scale, and we all agree on that, but at some point, losing those pounds makes a big mental difference..GOOD JOB!!

Well, I've got UNBELIEVABLE news to share with you all!! As you may or may not remember, I leave for Las Vegas TODAY...YEAH :cheer2: :cheer2: (which is the reason for the "not so healthy week" for me..lol) I've been so busy the last 2 weeks I havent' been to the gym at all..only 1 time in 2 weeks..bad lionqueen, bad. I have been REALLY busy running around and watching my diet though. So today, I had to weigh in for my challenge and I've lost...DA DA DA DUM...8lbs! I beat my goal by 2lbs!! I was SHOCKED!! I did feel like I had lost weight in my clothes, but didn't want to get on the scale. I am just thrilled by this news on the morning of my trip.

I am officially down a total of 47lbs from Jan 1st, 2005. I feel energized and MORE COMMITTED to losing weight than ever!! I don't eat hardly at all in Vegas so I'm not worried about gaining any weight at all..I know..surprising huh..but I cannot stand to sit with so much to do :lmao:

Anyway, keep up the motivation and inspiration. Every day we try to lose weight or stay healthy is one more day we can be around with our loved ones.

Take care y'all, I'll miss you!!
TLQ

Hi all! :sunny:

Sorry I've been MIA lately! It's a long weekend in Canada so we've been gallivanting across the province visiting people and doing a lil bit of eatin' too!

LionQueen may not get this message in time before her LV trip, but HAVE A GREAT TIME!!!! I've never been before, so I'm going to live vicariously through you!! Congrats on your weightloss!!! :cheer2: :cheer2: I love that we're all becoming a bunch of losers!!

CONGRATULATIONS ALASKA MOM!!!!! :cheer2: :cheer2: Way to go!! You just can't beat that feeling of getting off your plateau!

Not much new with me. I continue to plug along. My crazy weekend with family and friends went well though. My family about fainted when they saw my weightloss. With all of my silly whining these last few weeks, I hadn't stop to notice the ACTUAL changes in my body. I hadn't seen my family in 5 weeks and they were shocked and thrilled. I admit to feeling pleased, but also embarrassed when I consider how silly I've been with all of my complaining!! SORRY EVERYONE!!!! I need to appreciate my successes instead of focusing on the negative.

It was a fabulous weekend of visiting, and I even managed to exercise daily. If I hadn't been on my exercise challenge, there's no way I'd have done it! It helps so much being accountable to someone doesn't it? My food choices went fairly well. Bubba's words echoed in my mind as I was confronted with yummy treats! I exercised restraint, but did allow myself something if I really wanted it......but in SMALL portions. Water intake was nonexistent however.... :rolleyes1

So, that's my update in a nutshell. I hope you all had a great weekend, have a great week, and are doing well in your personal challenges. WE CAN DO IT!!!!!

Hey everyone! It seems like we all have been a little MIA over the past weekend. You know how much I love this site and all of you. So I am going to say that it doesn't matter how much we post as long as we are staying with our routines. I know for myself work has really been very stressful lately and it has been increasingly hard to get to the gym. I did make it 3 days last week and I got there today. I am still taking it easy with cardio because of my knee but I am very focused on adding more muscle. Tell you a good story. I went to see a friend of mine today. He happens to be the guy that I get my vitamins and supplements from. The first thing that he said to me was asking me if I was still loosing weight. I told him what I was trying to do. His next words were, "Well, you are looking good!" It is hard for me to say that because of my low self esteem history but I have been having several people telling me that lately. I guess I am doing something right. Now, I have to be honest. Over this past weekend, I was terrible. I was working 10 and 12 hour days without a break. So when I did get a break, I went over to Wendy's and got myself 2 Crispy Chicken Sandwiches and a Bacon Cheeseburger. Yes! I ate that at one sitting. But remember I hadn't eaten for over 12 hours on both occassions.

AlaskaMom Congratulations on your weight breakthrough. That is an awesome feeling. I know everyone here is very happy for you. How are you doing on your challenge? Are you ready to change up your exercise routines yet? Let me know if you are and I am sure we can throw some new stuff your way to help "light" you up.

CJK - I am very proud of you on being able to stick to your exercise while you had so much going on. I can't believe that you actually thought about something that I had said while faced with so many temptations. I guess that is good and bad. But you know that you have a wonderful support group here anytime you need it. You have been a very positive member of this group as long as you have been here. We all have a tendency to focus in on the negative instead of the positives. But now, you have others telling you how much they are noticing the difference and now how do you feel? You probably feel like you could walk on cloud 9. Keep up the great job.

Are you all keeping with your goals and challenges for this month? I want to make a challenge on the challenge. Next week will be the middle of the month. I would like an update from everyone on how you are doing on your challenge. Be honest with yourself. I can tell you that I have stayed away from all sweets for the first seven days and I am going fine. Let's keep going and make it a successful challenge. :woohoo: :grouphug: :cloud9: :cheer2:

Hi all! I hope everyone is enjoying their healthy lifestyles to the fullest! I know I'm trying.

Bubba - how wonderful that your friend could really see a change in you. Congratulations!! :cheer2: :cheer2: What terrific motivation!! Despite your busy work schedule, you're obviously doing something right! Don't beat yourself up about the Wendy's choice. I have a question. Did it taste good? I haven't had an old favourite (ie. Pizza Hut pizza) since re-starting my healthy lifestyle, so I was wondering if your bacon cheeseburger still tasted as good as you remembered? I read somewhere that your taste buds may change and you may not enjoy some of your old favourites quite so much. At any rate, I know you're still on the right track. Hope you're having a great week!

I almost weighed myself today. I stood in front of the scale, willing myself to actually stand ON the scale..........but I chickened out. :( I'm getting closer though. Hopefully I will have done it by the end of August. I did take measurements today and lost 1&1/4 inches between my waist/hips/thigh in one week.

This weekend I'm confronted with yet more temptation. We're having some overnight guests who love to drink AND eat. Oy. I'm starting to feel the crunch for our trip too. Just 1.5 months until we go, and I'm still a long way from fitting into my vacation clothes. Therefore, I really don't think I'm in any position to "give in" this weekend to food or drink. My plan is to have one drink and sip it slowly all night. With respect to food, I'm planning small portions for every meal, while maintaining exercise everyday. Yes, my exercise challenge continues to go very well.

I've heard some people say that they avoid tempting social situations if they know food will be there. My problem is that I don't want to do that. I know I'd resent having to give up this visiting time. I hope that my small portions will still do the trick. I just hope these friends don't pressure me as they have in the past...

How's everyone else doing? Have a great week!

Good afternoon everyone-
CJK- It's so nice when someone notices all your hard work, WTG!!! On the scale front I have the exact opposite reaction, I have to tell myself to stay away from it, I still give in every couple of days, I can't help it (I'm a scale JUNKIE - I wonder if there's a 12 step program for that?)
TLQ- Hope you're having an awesome time in Vegas in your new and improved smaller self!!! Congrats on reaching your goal! :Pinkbounc :bounce:
Bubba- I'm so happy for you that you've gotten a verbal aknowledgement of all the extra work you've been doing! I bet it just made your day!! I think your indulgence in Wendy's is what we need to call living in the real world, sometimes life is so hectic that we sometimes we need to grab something. I see that you didn't get the FROSTY with your meal, so WTG on no sweets!!!

As for me I have been meeting my challenges:
Exercise every single day!!
Water- at least 3 1/2 liters normally 4-5 Liters
Vitamins everyday!

I am in a quandry about my exercise for the next 2 days; We need to take my DD17 to Anchorage (3 hrs away) to have her wisdom teeth removed, and we're staying overnight and doing school shopping; the quandry is what kind of exercise is good to do when you're not at home?
Thanks to you all :sunny:

I'm just dropping in now that things seem to be going a little smoother these days.

We made the big switch from nights to days. It seems to be going really well, my daughter is enjoying the time with the other kids and with the care givers, she loves on particular one, Suzie, who always does her hair. She comes home with the greatest hair dos now.

I've lost another pound, it just seems like awful slow going, but I did have to buy new shorts because my others were too big. I guess I'm making some progress. :)

I need to catch up on reading.

Bubba, I hope your knee is feeling better. I know all about knee trouble, both mine have issues but I've been fortunate enough to not have trouble lately. I think that's why I do so many water classes less stress on my joints.

Bubba, I had another question, how do you become a personal trainer, I've always thought that would be interesting. I'm probably going to start teaching swimming at the center I go to, I'm kind of excited about that one. I haven't taught in a lot of years but it might be fun.

CJK - You have been doing so wonderful ever since you came aboard here. You have always been upbeat and uplifting to all that is here. Now, I am going to try to do the same for you. Don't worry about the "Social" situations. These are not times to avoid because you are worried about what you are going to eat or drink. Instead, you need to embrace them as a time to be with friends and family that you really enjoy spending time with. The problem with society is that we feel like that every social event should be totally wrapped around food. The truth of the matter is that these moments should be about catching up on how everyone is doing. Not what everyone likes to eat. So with that said, I will say to enjoy yourself. Just be mindful of the food that is put in front of you. Remember, a little indulgence isn't a crime but over-indulgence is a sin. Hope that makes sense. Also, just to let you know, the food at Wendy's didn't taste as good as I had remembered. That scares me a little. :rotfl:

AlaskaMom - Thank you so much for the kind words. I have been keeping up with my challenge. Honestly, I don't even like the Frosty at Wendy's so that was never an issue for me. Also, tonight I had to go to Wal-Mart to get some salad dressing and as I was checking out, I noticed all the candy. Snickers, Three Musketeers, Kit Kat and the others. I almost gave in. I was actually reaching out to get a Three Musketeers (It's lower in fat than the others.) and I rememberes the challenge I had made for myself here. When I first saw them, I forgot! :scared: :scared1: But as I was reaching for it, I did remember and I was glad I did. As I thought about it, not only would I have been letting you all down but I would have been letting myself down. I don't want to do that. It sounds like you are doing great with your challenge as well. I wish there was a way to reward everyone here for the wonderful job that you are all doing. I know that it can be said that loosing the weight, having more energy and being healthier is reward enough. But I really would like to do something more tangeable(?). I just don't know how and make it fair. If anyone has any ideas, please let me know.

O2bacelt - Thank you for asking about my knee. It is still giving me some issues but I am working around it as best I can. My gym doesn't have a water facility otherwise, I would consider doing some water aerobics or something. Sounds like you are sticking to your diet plan as well. 1 pound loss is still another 1 pound gone. I know it is slow going sometimes and that is very discouraging. Just don't give up. Sometimes, re-examining your routine and disecting what you are doing and when may show you some things that you hadn't realized. If you want to pm me with your regimen, I will try to help if possible. Also, you asked me how to become a trainer. There are a couple of ways to do this. First off, do you want to be able to charge people for your knowledge or do you just want to help people when you see that they are doing something incorrectly or with bad form? If all you want to do is help someone, then you just have to have some basic knowledge of what works for the body. Then you go to the person and be willing to share with them your experience. If you want to be able to charge people, you really need to be certified. There are several websites where you can get an at-home course so you can study at your own pace. You have to learn about the physiology of the body and of dieting. You will learn about different exercises and the correct way to do them. Then, they will usually have tests at places all over the country at different times of the year. Once you have past the test, you are certified. It sounds easy but there is a lot of science involved. More than I was aware of when I started considering it. But I do have some of the money saved up and I am hoping that before the end of the year, I will be able to report that I have past my certification test.

I hope you all have had a great week. The weekend is here and now, it is the time of the week that we all usually relax and let go of our "strict" plans. I am not going to tell you that you can't relax. I will say just don't over-indulge. Have a great weekend. :grouphug: :woohoo: :cheer2:

Just dropping in to say a quick hello to all  and give you all a few cheers :cheer2: :cheer2: as we all continue along in our healthy lifestyles!!! I sincerely hope everyone is doing well with their personal challenges and having some summer fun too! :goodvibes

I had a fairly successful weekend. We had a fantastic weekend visiting with our friends and even managed to get in regular exercise too! The food wasn't terrific, but certainly not terrible either. I managed to keep portions low and only had 2 glasses of red wine in a 7hr period!! As predicted, our friends were disappointed in how I resisted "letting loose for the weekend", but I think they finally understood.

This week we're going camping where there's LOTS of wonderful hiking trails with breathtaking views. I'm excited to get some serious exercise in, while having a wonderful time enjoying nature. I'll check in with everyone next week. Have a great week!! :sunny:
