Dieting for Disney

Would anyone care to share their successes. Total pounds/inches lost. How long you've been working at this.

The weekends here and I'm needing some motivation.

Monymony - The weekends are always tough to stay motivated or focused when you are trying to loose weight. The important thing is to remember why you are doing the diet. I know when I started almost 7 years ago, my focus was on the way I felt everytime I walked. With every step I took, I could feel my stomach bouncing. It seriously disgusted me. But at the same time I was mad at myself for getting into this type of shape. I knew better but that didn't stop me. Finally, I had an eye opening revelation and it came from the movie Tommy Boy with Chris Farley and David Spade. I don't know if I ever mentioned this before or not but this is what did it for me. I have never even seen the movie but just the trailers. In the trailer, there was a scene where they were driving down the road. Chris Farley was in the passenger seat and he opened a packet of ketchup and just sucked it down straight. David Spade's next line was life changing for me (even though it took a couple of days for it to sink in). His line was, "Oh my God! I can actually hear you getting fatter!" A little while later while I was eating, each bite I took made me feel like I was actually getting fatter. That's when I really went crazy on my diet. I was scared to eat. I had actually cut my diet below 1000 calories a day and I was doing push ups and sit ups every day. When I started, I had a 38" waist and no strength. I couldn't do 5 sit ups or push ups at a time. Then, I got to the point where I was down to a 32" waist with the beginnings of a 6-pack. I was down from 212 pounds to 160 pounds. But I was unhealthy because of the way I did it. That is why I have studied, asked questions and learned the correct ways to do things. Now, I may weigh 185-190 pounds but I am actually healthier than I was. Plus, now a lot of the weight on my frame is muscle ao the weight is a good weight. So, I don't know if this helped with your motivation or not but that is what did it for me.

Hope your day and weekend gets better. Look forward to tomorrow with enthusiasm and vigor. Don't ever dread what may be a head. That is what can be very deadly to your success.

Well everyone the weekend is HERE :sunny: ! And sun and hot for the entire weekend here in Boston!!! :sunny: I WILL TAKE IT! We have had wayyyy to much rain! DH & I have continued our walks. :thumbsup2 We are going steady with 8100 steps!! And as I mentioned before we are half walking and half SLOW jog. WOW, he is really loving  it and he needs this so bad. Today I really wanted to just chill even though we had NOT w/o Thursday but when DH said to me at 7pm..."let's go" I had to for him as I want him so back in shape. The cholestrol has to come down and the extra weight has to come off. So I agreed and was actually glad I did. It really is an empowering experience working out. You really really do feel GREAT when it is all OVER!!! AND I am sooooooo loving working out with the weights. Hey, they are only 1lb but "baby steps" and then I will advance to 2 lbs. My DS bought me 1,2,& 3lbs sets for Xmas one year.
OKAY EVERYONE!!! :goodvibes to monymony: :welcome: to our wonderful Thread! You will be so glad as well as happy to be in on this experience. You will quickly find a wonderful group of people all here inspiring each other to lose weight and maintain a healthy lifestyle!! :sunny:
lionqueen:VEGAS, girl, you ROCK! I love VEGAS. Have been twice and could go again tomorrow. AND with just the girls...ahhh..you will have the best time. Work a tad bit harder now before your trip so that you can enjoy yourself while away. Work for those 5 lbs for sure. THINK WHATEVER HAPPENS IN VEGAS STAYS IN VEGAS...hahaha!!!
CJK: My DH, I think is a tad bit jealous of everyone on the DIS Boards. I am on here quite a bit and he is always asking me what I am doing..."DH, I am talking to MY friends"!!!! YUP, you are all my friends here on the DIS!! AND Yippee Skippee on the INCHES lost. In my opinion INCHES lost is just as important as POUNDS lost. Some days I get depressed :( as I get on that darn scale (I don't do scales because I hate them) and not have lost an ounce but then I can pull out my tightest jeans and slip them on and BINGO they don't feel all that TIGHT!!!! great...THAT RIGHT THERE DOES SO MUCH FOR MY MIND!!! :sunny:
blestmom:OMG, I fell UP the basement stairs earlier this week and that totally FREAKED :scared: me out. It was my stupid slippers and I took them right off and threw them AWAY ::yes:: . I am so glad you are ok. They must have been darn scary! So glad falling down like that you did not bruise your butt while landing hard. TAKE IT SLOW until you are completely HEALED for sure! :)
02bacelt: So you are cleaing out everything and that is the July Challenge :thumbsup2 !! I am doing the same thing. We built a new home and moved in June 1, 2005! YUP, one year and I am still working on the basement. It is soooo getting there, slow but surely and it feels so good to get those boxes unpacked and organized. We are planning a yard sale. And then a HUGE donation to GoodWill. I like everything in Rubbermaid containers so as I switch from the moving crate to Rubbermaid, if I have not needed that item for this last year BYE BYE!!! :teeth:
BUBBA: How is the KNEE? Are you feeling better? That must have been a little scary to say the least. You are in such fabulous shape and then something like this...maybe you twisted it funny at work or even something as simple as getting in and out of the car or going up and down stairs..in any event I am hoping it is better! Did your friend ever end up joining you at the gym? I have a good friend that has gone with me from time to time but not religiously like me. She started out loving it and then slowly she did not come and then I called her and I got a "my sneakers are not the right ones"...then it was..."my back has been bothering me"...then it was..."that really is not a good time for me to go"...then it was..."I can't afford the gym" and I even told her I would SKIP the gym and go with her to the Town's Walking Track as that is FREE. I got "I'll call you"...guess if I ever got the call!!!!! She is quite heavy but does not have a problem with it. I did speak to her the other day and she now is suffering with horrible migraines! OUCH! Bubba: WOW, that David Spade/Chris Farley story was really interesting. I know the exact scene. I have seen that movie but while watching that movie I felt so bad for Chris Farley as he is (or was) just so heavy. He was really funny but so sad he is no longer with us. But, hey, Bubba , you never know, in this lifetime what might MOTIVATE you and if that one scene is what did it...AWESOME...and just look at you now!!! :thumbsup2!! As far as that tip goes you gave us earlier in the week...let me tell you, ohh, you are sooo right about the likes of HOT DOGS and all that sodium. DH asked me the other day for a few boiled hot dogs for lunch...."HUM, DH, I am not buying them anymore"...yup I stopped just THIS summer. UNneccasry food item. JUST SIMPLY JUNK!!! I love your tips, Bubba!!! Please keep them coming...BOTH food and exercise!!! Man o man, I have learned VOLUMES from this Thread! And, I have said this before and will say it again....WE ALL HAVE TO MEET SOME DAY..yup ALL OF US!!! Wouldn't that just be a dream come true!!! OKAY...going to be HOT in Beantown tomorrow but DH and I will be out at that Track :thumbsup2 and I think of everyone of you as I plug away!!! You motivate me all so much!!! HAVE A FAB WEEKEND!!! Karen

Hi all!

I finished cleaning and cooking for our company tonight, so I thought I'd take a couple minutes to DIS while I wait for company. I couldn't think of a better way to spend my time!

Bubba - how is your knee? I hope it's just a minor problem that will get better quickly. At any rate, I know that you're the kind of person who will stay on top of it. Sending Pixie Dust your way. Please keep us posted. We all care about our leader! ;)

Bubba, your story about Chris Farley was very interesting to me. While I don't have a story quite like that, I can certainly relate. I saw a picture of me a few weeks ago that just blew me away. I didn't recognize who I had become. I'm not even obese, but I couldn't deny that the weightgain was there. Combine that shock with not fitting into some of my clothes, and I had a similar lightbulb moment to you. Through advice/encouragement from you, others and lots of reading, I'm trying to do it the healthy way. As Momrek says........baby steps! Thanks for sharing your story. I bet a lot of people can relate.

Monymony: Welcome again! I must confess that I have yet to stand on a scale. I get close, but then I chicken out! I have, however, been taking my measurements. In 5 weeks, I've lost 2-3 inches off my waist/hips and thighs. I haven't dropped down a size yet, but I can definitely notice my clothes feeling looser (they were too tight before). You've come to a great place for advice/hugs/venting/encouragement, etc.. All the best to you, and I hope you like it hear!

Momrek - WOW! Your enthusiasm is contagious! Just seeing your posts puts a smile on my face. You and dh are doing fabulously well. You're also inspiring us in the meantime. I must get going on those weights too! Way to go!! :) :)

Things are going well for me. Dh and I did yoga this morning which is great. Tonight will be a challenge eating wise for sure. We're hosting a dinner party and I have made a dinner that isn't terribly healthy, so my only plan is to practice PORTION CONTROL. Everyone else will be eating and drinking (sangrias no less!), and I'll have to try to be strong. I won't deprive myself completely, but I don't want to completely blow it tonight too. I need a balance. We had company a few days ago too, and while I still did eat, our guests still noticed my smaller portions and kept telling me not to worry about my weight and enjoy. I smiled politely and poured THEM some more wine! haha Hopefully tonight, with more people than last time, no one will notice if I only have one sangria and a small serving of dessert. Baby steps!!

Hope everyone is enjoying the weekend. If it's anything like it is here, you must be enjoying the heat and sunshine! Bye for now! :goodvibes

Happy Sunday all, I thought I'd pop in and see what everyone is doing. I hope you all had a super weekend and are looking forward to a brand new week, and more steps to a brand new and healthier you...I know I am!

We had a scorcher here in Denver all week, and today is going to be ANOTHER record breaker.102degrees. I've lived here my entire life and I've never seen so many heat records beat in one season..were up to 6 so far..anyhoo, it's hot here. We went to the pool today and I got exercise and sun, it felt great.

I'd like to Welcome MonyMony too :welcome: :rainbow: :welcome: :rainbow: to our group. The people on here are so awesome, as you will be finding out. I hope you gain as much inspiration, friendship and encouragement as I have. You'll do Great, and when you need a little pick me up, we're here for you.

I thought since MonyMony asked, I would measure and weigh myself. I have measured myself in over a month, and I'm only weighing once a week for my Vegas challenge (or I wouldn't even get on that stupid scale that much :lmao: ). Here are my grand totals since Jan. 06'
Total pounds lost....42
Total inches lost.....26
I STILL have over 35lbs to go, but I WILL take it off, no matter how long it takes, that weight will be a memory in less than a year. I am happy at my progress so far, but still realize I have a long way to go.

I hope your knee is improving Bubba..you know that will be a major kink in your workout if that knee is troubling you. Just take it easy and really take care of it, we don't need you hobbling around on the treadmill :rotfl2: If I could pack you all up in my suitcase to Vegas, I would in a heartbeat..believe me! I NEVER eat much in Vegas, so I'm not worried about weight gain. In fact, DH usually has to drag me away from whatever I'm doing just to eat once daily. Since he's not there, I've just got to remember to eat once a day. I know, bad, bad, bad thing to do, but hey, it's Vegas..I don't have time to eat :rotfl2:

I just added another day to my trip report and am going to finish it this week too, so if you've read it before, the long break is over.

Bubba, your trip report is so great, I really enjoy reading it. Thanks for taking the time to do so.

My tip of the week is easy, and you all know it already, but just a friendly reminder....
DRINK LOTS of WATER! I drink a minimum of 160oz per day and it makes a world of difference.
I also bought a jumbo sized bag of grilled chicken (pre cooked and chilled) at Sam's club and I eat a few slices religiously every couple hours. These 2 things really work all, give it a try.

Have a GREAT WEEK and I look forward to hearing all your great stories and words of advice later on..
TLQ

Hi Lionqueen! Congratulations on that AMAZING weightloss! You're more than halfway there!! :cheer2: :cheer2: Talk about inspiring!!!

I have a question for you (or anyone on this thread). I always hear how important water is for weight loss and general well being. I'd like to know EXACTLY what water does. I'm hoping that knowing some specifics may help motivate me to drink more. I've yet to get even 64oz a day (hovering at around 45oz), so maybe knowing what the water does to help, may put me over the edge. Thanks so much for any info!! :teeth:

Lionqueen - :cheer2: :cool1: :Pinkbounc :woohoo: I am so happy and proud for you that I feel like dancing. (And that is a very scary sight.) You have worked so hard and have kept such a high level of motivation that you deserve your success. As Momrek would say, "YIPPEEE!". Knowing what you have already accomplished, the rest of the weight doesn't have a chance. Hearing stories like yours makes me feel like we should have named the thread "Dieting for Life" because think of the difference this has made in your life. There has been a show on VH1 that was called Celebrity Fit Club and they did something at the end of the season that shows you literally the difference you have made. They would have you do a test of jogging or running a 40 yard dash at the weight that you are. After you did that and rested, they would then put a backpack on you with bundles of fat so the pack would weigh the same amount as how much weight you had lost. You have lost 42 pounds so that would be hard to get exactly but what you could do is just grab a 45 pound plate at the gym and walk around with it for a little bit and see how you feel. See how that will make you feel realizing what you truly have accomplished. Again, I am elated for you.

Christa - Water has many benefits for you. I am going to give you some of the more obvious but very key points. 1) Drinking water will help flush you out. It doesn't make you retain water like what so many people believe but it actually helps keep you cleansed and flushed. 2) It keeps you hydrated. With this being the Summer time, temperatures are on the rise. (Just look at TLQ's post.) Water is the best liquid source on the planet for keeping you hydrated. Everything else typically has a lot of additives or sugars thar will aid you in retaining and water, feeling bloated and actually make you dehydrated. 3) Drinking large amounts of water will actually help keep you feeling full. For example, you are at home at night feeling like you want to cheat on your diet and eat something sweet. Instead, drink 24 oz of water. This will get your body re-hydrated, fill you up and actually curb your cravings. Hope that helps you with your motivation.

Monymony - How is your progress coming? It seems like you have met most of the group and I sincerely hope that you feel comfortable with us. We are just a group that is going through the same thing that you are and want to be able to assist in any way possible. At the same time, we want to be able to cheer for you on your accomplishments!! So with that being said, I hope you had a fantastic week last week but I wish you a better week this week.

As I have said in the past, Do not dread tomorrow. Look forward to what the next day brings and attack it head-on. Know that what you do can and will make a difference!!

Thanks Bubba!! Seeing those words in black and white really helps my motivation. I knew I could count on you!!!

How's everyone doing in their healthy lifestyles in this crazy heat? I've been working out indoors more, though hopefully I can go on a late night walk tonight. I just love wandering the streets with dh when it's so peaceful.

May I share some good news with everyone that's non-diet related? I got a new job (I'm getting into writing) and am now writing a regular column in a newsletter for a local company!! I absolutely love to write, and now I'm getting paid for it. It's a small step, but it just feels good doing something that I love.

To relate it to this thread, when things go well in one's personal life, it can also be that much easier to take better care of YOU. I practically floated over the treadmill today (and that never happens :teeth: ). I may have eaten a little too much sugar today (I had a rice krispie treat for dessert tonight!), but I did stay in my calorie/fat range for the day and got in some great exercise. Even when days don't go as well as today, I've got this drive, this determination......that I hope doesn't fade. I just love this thread and all the positivity that comes with it. You guys are the BEST.

Now, if y'all excuse me, I've got to go get a drink of water. ;)

Hi everyone-
After seeing a post by Bubba in another thread I thought I should check this one out. So far I've read 20 pages, and had to take a break!
I have found the motivation and encouragement from this community a great help, as I've always tried to do it alone (so the failure was always a private matter), I think posting on here I'll have some accountability, and hopefully have success instead of failure! I started the South Beach diet on July 12 and have so far lost 8 out of the 55 pounds I would like to lose before our Christmas trip to Disney. :sunny:
As far as my plan; I'm eating the South Beach way (phase 1 right now) which means NO CARBS, then I will switch to phase 2 and start adding good carbs slowly (which also means the weight loss will be more slow during phase2) Yeah in phase 2 I get to have fruit (I can't believe how good a strawberry sounds when it's off limits!)
My exercise is going a little slower: the first 2 days on the Beach were BAD!!! :crazy2: I was going thru Pepsi withdrawls, so I really didn't do much except moan about not having a Pepsi or bread. But in the last 3 days I've been better. I have gone on walks with the doggie for 45-60 minutes each evening. I still need to start doing the weights, but it will come.
Thanks to all of you who have shared some very personal info and diet tips, it has truly inspired me to try again! :thumbsup2

AlaskaMom - :welcome: :cheer2:  :Pinkbounc :woohoo: We are so happy to have you join our family. I sincerely hope that you find the needed encouragement here to assist you towards greater success. It sounds like you are already doing really well with the first 8 pound loss. That is fantastic. Otherwise, South Beach is a good diet plan if you want to do one of those "fad" diets. I have never personally cared for them. I actually did better when I devised my own diet plan because I knew that was something that I would be able to stick with. Don't get me wrong. I really don't have anything against SBD. I have eaten a lot of their foods. I just did better off of it. The one thing that I noticed with those meals was they were extremely high in sodium. Sodium is salt. Salt has two negative effects. It will cause you to dehydrate faster and make you retain water. (This also gives you a soft look so if you are trying to get that "tight" look, the sodium level will have to drop drastically.) Now as far as the exercise is concerned, I would really try to encourage you to start with some weights. I am not trying to get you to look like a bodybuilder but I do know that muscle burns twice as many calories as fat. You will also burn more calories even while at rest so it will help you lose faster. One more thing. Don't concentrate on the scale. That can throw you off more than anything else. Go by how your clothes and fit and how you feel. But seriously, congratulations on your great start and I am sure you will make your goal weight before your trip.

CJK - That is great news about the job. You are right. When one good thing happens, so does another and another and so on. Well, hold on to your hat because now you should be in line for a whole slew of great things. I am really excited for you. What kind of column will you be writing? I know I used to do a little writing when I was younger. I wrote several poems and short stories. I never really thought I was very good, I just had stuff on my mind that I wanted to get across and off of my chest.

Ok everyone! Even though this day is over with, the week has just started. It has been a long time since we have done this so I am going to initiate a challenge to all the members of this thread and to anyone that pops in to read it. Who wants to join me in 7 straight days of cardio? This can be any form of cardio exercise. Running, walking, treadmill, yard work, anything. I am looking for any type of exercise that helps get your heart rate up, speeds up your metabolism and makes you break a sweat. Daily posts are nice but honesty is a must. If you miss a day, don't stop. Get in the other 6. The point is to get up and MOVE!! Who is with me? We will all report back here at least by next Tuesday to see how we have faired. I wish you good luck and great health!!

AlaskaMOM - WELCOME!! :cheer2: :cheer2: This is a wonderful place for you to share your ups and downs, to get motivation, and to just chat with people who also want to live healthier lifestyles. You'll never catch me saying the "D" word! This is a lifestyle choice. I hope you stick around. It's great to meet you!

Bubba - I'm IN! I'm just lacing up the shoes for day one of the challenge, and I'm doingTaebo today. Billy Blanks...here I come! :teeth:

Thanks for the warm welcome!

Bubba- as for the SBD I know if I used those prepackaged meals I'd be in trouble. It's meals prepared at home from (mostly) scratch, so I can control the amt of sodium. I think when I get to phase 2 and start incorporating the good carbs in it will be more like the lifestyle change I need, and not just a "diet". As I am a novice at this particular "diet" only being on it for 7 days I don't know for sure, but it seems that what it's mostly about is cutting out or limiting the bad carbs (the white foods; ie white bread, rice, potatoes, sugar) but allows the good carbs (the brown foods; ie whole wheat bread, whole wheat pasta, brown rice, wild rice, yams) as well as lots of veggies and lean protiens.

Everyone- I love reading your posts, it's so great the amount of encouragement you can get from this thread! Keep up the great work, and we'll all be reaching our goals!

Again to Bubba- I'm on for the cardio challenge, It's a nice day here 65-70 and my garden really needs some attention. :sunny: :sunny: (Sorry to all of you living through the incredible heat in the lower 48, I hope you can get out and move some how, but remember to keep hydrated, and wear a hat and sunscreen!) :sunny: :sunny:

Happy Tuesday all I hope this post finds you all well into your healthy week!

I'd first like to give out HUGE thanks for everyone who complimented and encouraged me on my current weight loss :thanks: :thanks: :thanks: . It means SO MUCH more than words could ever tell you, thank you all so much!!

I also have some FANTASTIC news to share with my Disney Dieting family, especially the women (sorry Bubba). I went shopping yesterday for the 1st time in a long time and you will never believe this, I still am in some sort of shock. I used to wear a size 24 pant and 3X top. Yesterday the capri pants I bought were a size 16!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The last time I bought clothes, my pants were a 20 (which I was pretty happy about). I know most of you are starting out as a size 16 wanting to get smaller, but for me, getting into a 16 from a 24 is just the best thing I could ever hope for. I just HAD to share it with you all.

AlaskaMom...your town has the name of one of my favorite Disney characters, so I love you already  . Really jealous of your weather up there too, but glad you get to enjoy it. I've been to Alaska only once about 3 years ago and it is just amazing! Living in Colorado, mountains, forests and rivers are really important to me, and honestly, Alaska would be one of the only other states I would consider living in, just beautiful. Glad you're doing well on SBD. That is one diet I can just never do. I'm Sicilian so no white breads & pastas = death sentence :lmao: For those who can maintain that way of eating it is a great way to go, there is no way I could do it.

I was talking with my cousin about it, and we were looking at the incredibly long life lines of our ancestors. The youngest of our Great Grandparents (only 4 generations we know of) died at 92, the oldest was 106. I laugh when I tell my cousin that the "bad carbs" we eat everyday gave long lives to our family, so far anyway. I just think that every individual can find one thing that works for them, and not for others. For example, my "diet" food which I eat at least once per day is semolina pasta w/red sauce. That food is totally against the rules on Atkins and others. I say do whatever works for you that you can maintain for life. GREAT JOB!!

I've been working out for 2 weeks now officially, and still look forward to going everyday. I'm mixing up my cardio daily (2 different machines for 30 mins each) and strenght training every other day. So far for my "Vegas Challenge" I'm down 1.7lbs. I've got 5.3 to take off before 8/7, I'm pretty sure I'm going to hit it.

Anyway, I'll say ciao for now..great work all..keep your mind healthy and fit, and your body will follow. Positive attitudes rule!!
Have a great day
Lanette

Lanette-
That is so AWESOME! a size 16 you're doing so great! :cheer2:  :cheer2:
It's so much more fun to shop for littler clothes!
I know that I'd like to be in a 16, right now it's an 18, and eventually like to be a 10-12.

Okay I'm stumped, I thought I knew alot about Disney Characters, but I guess I don't what character is named Kenai (and where are they from?)

I actually have family living in CO, I lived there for a couple of years back in the 80's, jr hi school,(4) and went back a couple of Christmases ago, it's just so much more crowded than here, but I still really love the mountains.....Estes Park is so cool to visit, and there is so much more "cultural" things. Around here it's fish or oil, not too exciting; that's why hubby want to move to lower 48 next year after oldest DD graduates HS.

Oh well caught myself rambling......... everyone have a good day :)

Lionqueen...that is FANTASTIC! Good for you! :cheer2: That must feel great. I know when I went clothes shopping is when I realized those pounds had crept up on me, so what fun it must be go clothes shopping and being happy! Also, I love pasta, too. I just try to keep it in moderation, and increase the veggies with it.

AlaskaMOM...Welcome from another Alaskan! I'm in the Matanuska Valley. I'm loving the cool summer when I hear about the heat in the Lower 48.

Bubba...I'm up for your challenge, but I'm starting tomorrow. My schedule for the next 6 weeks is relatively light, so I'm looking forward to getting back to some kind of routine. I found a fun way to add some cardio to my day. My son bought me an iPod, we downloaded some fun music, and I can dance away, and do some step stuff whenever I find the time. So my goal will be 7 days straight...starting Wednesday.

And a quick update...my back is almost all healed...much quicker than I thought it was going to be. I'm very happy about that.

Have a great week, everyone!

Thanks to EVERYONE for your warm welcomes.

I'm hanging in there. I'm not as disciplined as I used to be. Stress just stinks for me these days. It really gets me hung up. And I can't shake it and in the end I'm just finding a small amount of comfort food. I used to be so good about listening to my conscience. Now I just tell it where to go. I follow my plan, but like tonight for instance I couldn't stand hearing those darn chocolate chip cookies whispering at me. I had to shut them up and eat them and now it's peaceful around here.

Seriously though, I'm almost where I need to be. Something someone will say here will be the kicker. It's like you said about the movie you watched with Chris Farly. Something will just make the wheels start moving and my frame of mind will start working and all the pieces of what franticly races around in my head will all fall in place. I know what you mean about feeling like every bite you put in your mouth immediately goes to your fat cells. I know what the jiggle feels like. I know what lying on the bed to zip up your pants feels like and popping zippers.

I also know what losing a ton of weight feels like and buying the size 8 when you intended to buy the 12.

But, 3 kids in 10 years wreaks havoc on a womans body. Having a husband who loves me for me and never complains allowed me slip up more. Loving to cook and being a darn good one, doesn't help much either.

I need to exercise more. A lot more. I work from 7am to 6pm just running the daycare. Then from 6p to 10p I am tending to my family and trying to get the house chores done. There is time, I just have to utilize my time better. It's hard, I'll find a way.

I lost the first 40 last year. I can lose the next 40 this year. Keep posting. I'll find what I need here. I just know I will.

Thank you all for your kind comments, I SO appreciate them!!

AlaskaMom..too funny! I've lived in CO my whole life, and we go to Estes Park every year, very pretty. Kenai is the brother and bear in Brother Bear, one of my absolute fav. Disney movies. If you haven't seen it, it's a must see! My cousin hates the movie though, so maybe it's just because I have boys :confused3
Congrats on your weight loss, that's fantastic!! Sounds like we are leading similar lives as far as weight loss is concerned. I've lost over 40 and have nearly another 40 to go, we can do it!!

Well all, time for bed. worked really hard today, feels great.
thanks again!!
TLQ

Hey everyone! It seems like all of you are doing really well with your routines. I really wish I could say the same for me. Work has been so chaotic that it seems like I am working from the time I wake up to the time I go to bed. I had one of my employees quit on me and I have been basically working double duty. I haven't had a day off in 10 days and it looks like it will be another 10 before I may get one. I have just about reached the breaking point on my sanity and loyalty. I really like my job but upper level management just don't think enough of us to give us adequate help. Nevertheless, I will be at the gym tomorrow morning before going to work and I am going to a travel show Saturday to see a buddy of mine that works for WDW. I have even contemplated just closing up shop on Sunday because we really don't do any business then anyway. Sorry for venting but I guess I just need some pixie dust. Ever since I got back from our vacation, it just seems like the whole store has been very negative towards me and each other.

TLQ - That is FANTASTIC news. I know that you were taking me out of the equation but remember, I have a wife also, so I understood about the dress sizes. My DW is in a size 18 right now. When we started dating, she was a size 8. But that doesn't change how great your news is.

Blestmom - Great news. You are healing up very nicely and very fast. We have missed you around here. I am going to try to :cheer2: you to success on the 7 day challenge. I know you can do it. I would recommend for you to take it easy and don't overdo it. You are still sporting an injury and have been out of action for a while. Build your time and speed back up to what you were at before you were injured over a period of time. It will be better for you.

Monymony - You have already made the biggest step to a successful change in your health. You are trying to get the help and encouragement that is needed on a daily basis to succeed. We all have our own vices that always bring us off of the wagon. I, too, love chocolate chip cookies. I can't be in the same room without eating one or twelve. But you have to. Forget about those demons that talk to you telling you to eat that cookie of bowl of ise cream. If you are being tested, take a walk. Drink some water. Clean the house. (No, not that.) The point is to do something to take your mind off of the craving or those voices. What is stronger? Your desire or your craving? You obviously have a desire to be healthier and in better shape. Let that be your focus. Throw all that other junk away. You will feel better about yourself when you do it.

AlaskaMom - My apologies for assuming the wrong thing. Although, I never actually did the SBD, whenever I hear of someone doing it, I just automatically think about the prepackaged foods that you see everywhere in the grocery stores. (Very much like NutriSystem.) I have never liked someone telling me what I have to eat in order to loose weight. That is typically when you rebel and eat the other stuff. (What is it about doing what you are not supposed to?) It really sounds like you are off to a great start. You do have a great plan with your eating. Now, with you on for the 7 day challange, I am confident that you will have great results.

I really hope that all of you know how much I dearly appreciate each and every one of you. This thread really has given me a lot of hope and encouragement through good and bad times. I can't imagine what I would be like, personally, without all of you as my family members to talk to when things are down. :grouphug: Thank you and keep up the great job!!!

Bubba73: I needed that thanks. I know what desire is. Twice in my last 16 years I put away the temptations and lost weight. Quickly and basically the starvation way. And no sooner was it not only gone, it was back. I am not starving myself. I am not going to gain it back. Instead of losing 80 pounds in a few months, I'm doing this my way with the help of SB. I do get upset with myself when I cave, but I've learned that I AM human. Past diets I never veered from it at all. I starved. I suffered.

On day real soon, I will win over the re trys, I will finally take a stand and stop the on off game. I am on right now, hanging on, sometimes one hand may slip, but i haven't let go yet.

I read everyone's stories and congratulations to everyone. You are all so dedicated. I am envious of those who can go to a gym. Keep it up.

I will learn who every one is over time. Sorry if I don't sound personal yet, but I'm also getting there as well.

Keep posting your loses. I am happy for you all.

I did see a 1 pound loss this morning. So, steady and slow win the race.

*Hugs everyone*

Bubba - I'm sending some pixie dust your way. I'm sorry that you're going through a difficult time with work. Maybe you should send some upper level managers to THIS thread and they'll see what a gem you are and how lucky they really are to have you! Hang in there. I hope you have a great time this weekend catching up with your friend. We're thinking of you!!

Monymony - You've got it! You've got the right attitude to succeed. If/when we mess up, we can't just give up, we need to dust ourselves off and keep going. Congrats on the weightloss too! :cheer2: :cheer2: You're doing great so far and are a wonderful asset to this thread. Hope to get to know you better in the coming weeks! :wave2:

TheLionQueen - Congrats on your amazing weightloss too!! :cheer2: :wizard: I know exactly how you feel about wearing smaller sizes!!! Celebrate that success! I love hearing your success stories!! Keep up the amazing work!!!

blestmom - I'm so glad to hear your back is healing quicker than expected. Slowly you'll be able to get back into exercising. Keep us posted on how it goes! Oh, and I'm with you when it comes to pasta! I still eat it, but in proper portions! Thanks for your update - that's great news!

AlaskaMom - I just read your post about the great temperatures you're experiencing right now. Sounds wonderful!! Southern Ontario is stinkin' hot right now. I've still tried to get out a bit, but I can't stay out for long without being by a pool or lake! Glad to see you've joined our little family here. Hope you enjoy it here. :goodvibes

Not too much to report from me. Day one of Bubba's challenge went well. I did 25min. of Taebo and 15min. of interval training on the treadmill. Today will be all treadmill (45min.) and hopefully a short evening walk with hubby if it's not too hot. Tomorrow is measuring day again so hopefully we'll see some improvement. To date, I can't say that I've dropped a single size yet. My clothes were tight when I started, and now they're slightly loose, but definitely still wearable. I bought these lovely capris pants a few weeks ago (thinking they'd fit, but were way too tight), that I'd LOVE to be able to wear for our trip in 2 months, 1 week. I'd need to drop TWO SIZES though, so I'm not holding my breath........but it IS fun and motivating to have a goal. Thanks for listening all! :sunny: Hope you all are healthy and strong today! :cheer2: :cheer2:
