I am looking into getting a die cutting system. My scrapping friend has a Sizzix and has told me I could borrow it anytime, but I was looking into the Zip'eMate from Accucut and the Wizard from Spellbinders. They both claim to be able to use Sizzix, Sizzlet and Quickcut dies along with their own. They are both also able to emboss. This almost sound too good to be true, has anyone had any experience with these machines? Here are links for them:

I have a sizzix and it was a waste of money for me. I don't really use die cuts and so it sits collecting dust although I can bring myself to get rid of it either... LOL!!

Anyway, a girl at the last crop I went to had the ZipeMate. She also has the Sizzix and QuicKutz and seemed to really like the ZipeMate best!! It was a neat little gizmo. That night, she was just playing with it, using brass stencils and using them to emboss Halloween cards. It was pretty cool.

I have been looking at some die cut systems as well. I do use them and I usually go to crops at the LSS to use theirs. I have used the Sizzix which I did like but I really liked the Zipemate when I saw it. Very easy to use and I really like you can use so many different dies with it.
I have not used the quickcuts but I dont want anything I have to squeeze, I like the roller kind or the ones like Sizzix better.

I too am looking at die cute machines and I want to make the right decision. I'm leaning toward the Sizzix as of right now. I have read that it is bulky and heavy making it hard to travel with but I won't be traveling with it so that shouldn't be a problem. Any one else have any opinions?

Thanks for sharing!

Carla

Well, it's certainly heavy! When I reached down to pick one up from the bottom shelf I was shocked! I couldn't lift it with one hand...at least not with it spread enough to get around the box.

I have a sizzix and I LOVE it. It is heavy, I have a deep scrapbooking desk and it sits in the back corner. When I need it, I just slide it forward!! I don't travel with it. I only scrapbook at home. I just know if I went to a crop, I would need something from home!!! :flower1:

Would you mind sharing which dies you have found you use most often? And maybe the types of pages you use them on?

Right now I have Disney on the brain as both DD & DDIL want to do their Disney pix. Since there are no Disney-specific dies, I'm guessing they'll want the basic shapes. Do you routinely use other shapes? Like birthday, holiday, or whatever...

The ones I use the MOST are the tags and alphabets!! I LOVE them and am addicted to them. I have three Sizzlets alphabets (Girls are Weird, Script and Graffiti) and one "original" alphabet set (fun serif - caps). I would like the lower case set, in time!! I have all the tags/tag sets except the Xlarge scallop tag, I can't find it anywhere!?! One day I will break down and buy it on sizzix.com!! I also like several of the new sizzlet alphabets (they even have a sizzlet tag set which I must have!!) I guess I would say the best investments are the alphabet sets and the tags and tag sets.

I also have the circles set and the large circle (they make GREAT Mickey heads), hearts, frames, doll, clothes, hair, film strip, palm tree, sign, balloons, lots of different flowers which I use often, the vine, flower pots, the banner, the dog, swirls, star border, splats, confetti . . . and some more that I can't think of now!!!

I have the megaphone and two star sets also. I use these a lot with my four cheerleaders!! :cheer2:

Whew!! I have a lot more than I thought!! You will LOVE it, get it!!

Oh yeah!! I don't have any regular trees. I think I would use one of those often, too!! Oh, and grass. And they also have a cloud/sand mound which would probably be good. Oh see, now you got me started and I must go to A C Moore tomorrow!! MY DH will be mad at you!!! LOL!! :earboy2:

I also have a sizzix and say I use my alpha sets, my dog bone and dish, I love the hearts and cloud dies too.

I think I shouldn't have asked this question! :scared1:
I now have a whole new list of dies to go get for DDIL with those 40% coupons! ;)

Let's see, the clouds, the splats, the vines, the film strip, flowers, the confetti...... and hmmmm :scratchin do I have the circles or did I get the stars? ;) You guys are gonna cost me a fortune! :scared:

And all that in addition to waiting for a sale on alphabets! It's funny how I looked at some of those dies at the store & they just didn't inspire me, but now that you say you use them I can think of TONS of places to use them in a Disney layout! :sad2:

I have the Quickutz and it's definately the one for me! I work part time in a scrapbook store and I've pretty much seen them all!!!! The Sizzix is just to heavy to drag around to crops. I use my Quickutz mostly for the alphabets, but I also have an assortment of dies. I read where one poster didn't want anything that she had to squeeze. By using the cradle that comes with it, there's no squeezing needed.

I'm glad now that I held out on the Sizzix and chose the Quickutz. It also helps that our store is a Quickutz Dealer and us employees get 40% off at all times. Without that perk, I wouldn't have half the stuff I have.

I guess the one that I used was old?? I had a very difficult time using it with the cradle. There were lots of tools at my LSS (now closed). I used the sizzix alpha and tags all the time. I found the quickutz to be a pain. I guess that is why they have all the different tools on the market so everyone can use the one they like the most! :cloud9:

check out the sizzix SIDEKICK it is portable & lightweight
I have one in addition to my reg Sizzix :moped:

I saw the zipemate thing demonstrated at Archivers when we were in Minnesota and it's great. It does use the Sizzix dies as well as the QuickCuts. The Sidekick, I thought she said, can use the QuickCuts dies.

I have the Sizzix and use it a little more than I thought I would. I use the alphabets the most.

I have Sizzix and I love mine! I use it a lot for Tags and Alphabets. I also have the converter so I can use Sizzlits as well, which I love because they are small and thin! :)

I actually use mine quite a bit for holidays. I love the fence, pumpkin and ghost for Halloween. Right now I am using the christmas bulb and ornament die cuts for a page I am doing. I use a lot of die cuts, so buying a sizzix was the best investment for me! :):)
