Did your MB fall off?

I had mine fall off once when I picked up my son. I found a way to fix it though is to put the band on upside down so the mickey faces away from you when looking at your wrist. Never fell off again after that.

Interesting that quite a few people on this thread had the same experience we did - MBs falling off when picking up your child. We had this happen a lot!

Mostly they have been okay, but we had one pop open, and we nearly lost it. We just happened to see it drop.

Ok, I gotta ask -- why do they fall off when lifting kids? :confused3 I cannot for the life of me figure this one out!

My youngest DD lost hers at Disney Quest last fall on the 2nd day we were at Disney. I think mostly due to her putting it on way too tight. She didn't have on the slider at the time either. The rest of us wore the slider. She got a replacement band and from then on wore her mb looser and also wore the slider and never had another problem.

Only wore ours for one trip so far, but never had problems with them falling off our wrists at all. Amanda also kept hers on a loop on her back pack and had no problems!

because when most people wear them the mickey faces towards you when looking at your wrist.

With this configuration the overlapping (top) part of the band will face upwards when you lift your arm.

When picking up a child this overlapping part of the band will snag on clothing etc and come undone.

That's why I said to wear them upside down. Once I switched this it never fell off once.

OHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH Ok, I just had to sit in my office and demonstrate this to myself. As my mother would say "it's a sin for me"

Mine fell off a couple of times - I think when I was just walking. I didn't notice it happen and one time my husband saw it fall and got it for me. The next time a stranger saw me drop it and handed it to me. Yay for nice people:goodvibes

haha yea my response is poorly worded but it you visualize it just enough you'll realize what I'm saying.

Cheers.

I think I would call it more "popping" open/off, than "falling" off. Mostly it is when you are doing or lifting something- the end of the band which overlaps on top will catch on people and things when you are lifting a child, or a backpack or a purse etc, and it will basically cause the band to pop open. They also can get caught on railings, handrails or other outside objects. It isn't a huge problem, but it does occasionally happen, so you just need to be aware. We had the sliders and DH and DD still had theirs pop off a couple of times. The sliders tend to actually slide, or at least ours did. DH it was usually when he was lifting or messing with DD. For DD, she would be holding onto railing or something and it would catch on what seh was holding and pop open. It is basically just a peg in a hole, and I think as the hole stretches over the week, it gets a little easier to pop them off. Basically the end of the magic band that is on top and overlapping the other end catches on stuff causing it to pop off. I'm pretty sure we were all wearing ours with the Mickey facing away from us when we looked at our wrist so it would line up perfectly with the FP+ mickeyhead readers. We still had a couple of pop offs.

4 people for 10 days and not one band fell off. The sliders were just little pieces of glow in the dark silicone that said 2013. They were given to us at check in at AoA. I didn't know they did anything to keep the band on.

We've taken 2 trips with magic bands so far, and mine fell off (popped off) many times. Most times I happened to notice, once a stranger saw and told me, and a few times my husband noticed. Once I noticed and went back to where I had last seen it on, and a cast member had happened to pick it up and was hanging around watching to see if someone was looking for it. Once I went as far as to go to inactivate it, and then found it under my son in the stroller. We finally figured that the reason mine fell off and my son's (age 4) and my husbands didn't is that I was the one always getting the kids out of the stroller and lowering them back into it, and I was the one carrying a backpack that went off and on frequently. It would catch on both of those. I know I wore it both ways (Mickey facing me and facing away from me), because I started with it facing me and then a CM told me I should wear it the other way because that was the way it would be read by their readers while on my wrist. I didn't notice if one way was better than the other, but we're going back in 2 days so I'll try it with mickey facing away from me and pay attention.

Though back in the fall I saw people mentioning a slide they were given to keep them on. Do they still do this? Do you find the kids lose theirs?

The free sliders were given as a promo back in the fall when the bands were released. Each resort had an amount. When they were gone they were gone. They do sell many things in the gift shops for them. Similar to the Crocs charms years ago.

I wore my band the length of my stay and it never fell off. They are waterproof, but do not float.

My son broke a peg off his band. He was constantly unsnapping and snapping it. He doesn't like things around his wrist. I got a grey replacement MB at the front desk.

Mine never fell off, but I did find it uncomfortable to wear. Actually, mine broke. One of the snaps used to latch the band broke off. I was pretty worried about losing it for the rest of the trip since it felt so loose.

Mine fell off more than once while I was lifting my toddler. The same thing happened to my BIL. We got covers for our MBs and were fine after that.

I never thought about the wearing it upside down idea. I'll have to try that. Although I am partial to my MB cover, so I might just leave well enough alone.

Mine started 2 fall off/come undone after the fifth or so day. I did take it off everyday @ night and I also did a lot of toddler holding!

Where do u get these covers?
