Disney has a strange way to construe answers to questions it has asked in the past. For example when it did away with early entry a few years back (which has now returned), it conducted park surveys asking quests whether they would like to see more characters at the hotels and parks. People answered yes and Disney justified doing away with ee by saying it was adding character mornings to the resorts which was what people told Disney they really wanted instead of ee; of course, none of the survey questions asked whether people wanted characters rather than ee, just whether they wanted characters.
I suspect the same is happening here. I do recall being asked (before MS added late night hours on Thursday) whether adding such to the existing 9 to 5 hours is something I would prefer and of course said yes. Probably in Disney's view that means I prefered late night Thursday to weekend hours.
Also, for those concerned that adding weekend hours would raise dues: It won't because of the way MS gets its money to operate. It has four sources -- a $1 per member fee (which cannot be raised); a substantial portion of the rental money from renting units in last 60 days before occupancy that are not reserved by members; fees charged for exchanges to other resorts; and an unspecifried portion of the Management Fee in your dues which is a set percentage of all other dues charged (and the percent cannot be raised).
