Did you see this!!!!

Food and Wine starts Sept 26th same day as packet pickup

I'm a AP holder too but DH isn't so he was already saying he'd take mine so he'd have 2 passes LOL

Hello, my name is Diane and I'm a Disney Race addict.

Yep Food and Wine starts the 26th so what a great time! Food and Wine, MNSSHP and now the race. I am sooooo excited.

Hubby and I are going to do it together :)

This does sound like fun and a special medal to boot. I agree with the others though. i really do not need a ticket. Hmmmm..... I wonder what kind of obstacles we're talking about. I'd love to have to ride EE as part of the trek.

Wow! Sounds like great fun. I'm so curious about the obstacles, etc. Dh and I will be going down the following Wed. for the Food and Wine Festival. Hmmmm, wonder if I can squeeze in a few more days.

:disrocks:
Gosh, I wish I lived closer to Disney!!!
I think I'll have to be happy just doing Philly.....:earboy2:

I can't understand why I am WAY more excited about this race than DH... I guess because mr. engineer had to go and look at the price... :lmao: Love you DH! :lovestruc

So now we have EE, RFTT, RFTC, and TOT all within a month of each other. Ugh!!! I am still holding out hope for an AP rate, but EE is not looking good for us - bummer! :sad1:

Crzy4pooh, I'm on the Space Coast, too. :wave2: I see that you're doing the Minnie and then the Danskin Tri. I was thinking about that. My first walk after the 1/2 was hard though, and so I dropped that idea. I would LOVE to do that though. I have heard such wonderful things about it, so I will be anxiously waiting to read your race report.

I adore Minnie though, so I have to get a medal with her on it. Then, next year will be an innagural race, so I'll have to do the Princess Half (or whatever they're going to call it). Maybe the following year I'll manage, or better yet.... maybe next year I will be fit enough to do both on back to back weekends like you are.

Also, where are ya'll finding the info on EE and Danskin. I can't seem to find it on the Disney sports page. Is it somewhere beside endurance? Thanks!

What's this! Do you have any info on it? Is it in WDW? Sorry for all the questions, but I'm new to this and so excited now that I've signed up for my first event (the Minnie). I keep reading these boards and find myself wanting to do more and more events. I just live too far away to do as many as I would like.:)

No, I have no inside info or anything. Rumors had been going around that 2008 was the last year for the Minnie Marathon Weekend, and that in 2009 the weekend would be revamped into a half marathon with Princess themeing. Those rumors were pretty much confirmed during marathon weekend at he Expo. So, this is the last year to get a Minnie medal (15K), and next year should be the innagural of the Princess Half -- at least that is what I'm thinking.

Hope that makes sense. I also know what you mean about the excitement around here and wanting to do more races. It is contagious. Fortunately, we live fairly close, so that isn't a concern. Childcare is my big concern.

On a similar note, my DH seemed interested in the EE challange. He has bad knees but thinks he could do 3 miles. I'm hoping he'll go for it. Actually, I'd love to find somene who'll watch the kiddos overnight. We could enjoy the party and everything then. It'd be like a real date. Wow!!

Oh, man! Why do they have to bottleneck all the races??? I am already going for RFTT and ToT, plus I am trying to get DH to agree to DL for the special medal. How could I possibly justify another trip during that time? Dang Disney!

Hi Eva!!!

mrsschlep has it on the front page but I needed an excuse to go to the page again and see the logo :lmao:

http://disneyworldsports.disney.go....s/detail?name=EnduranceEverestEventDetailPage

I have yet to meet mrsschlep but I can already tell she's going to be a baaad influence on me ;)

Ray (DH) is still a go on the EE5K, I told Mom last night (Barb) that I was going to have to find a way to get Ray out of doing Disney races. doesn't he know they are all about ME? Doesn't he realize that the more Disney races he does the less I can afford to do? LOL Just see if I sign him up for a Marathon Weekend race. I'll have to sell the house :lmao:

Oh and I think I have the perfect plan for training for the 5K, we train in a local wooded park. The path curves wonderfully thru the park, twisting and turning allowing for places for a Yeti to hide and jump out LMBO

minigiirl-thanks, that sounds intriguing. I'm doing the Minnie this year, so maybe if I decide against the1/2 in Jan. 09, I'll be able to do it in May '09 at the new event. This is so addictive and I haven't even ran my first event!

Eva - Yea! I didn't realize you were so close! We are actually in Palm Bay. You can definitely do Minnie and Danskin back-to-back!!!! I am so NOT fit (yet ;) ), and I did this 2 years ago. I am certainly not speedy, so I did what I could just to finish Minnie (and take lots of pics along the way). :thumbsup2 I recovered within a couple days. I really didn't train during the week in between - I think maybe one light swim, and one bike.

The Danskin in SO AMAZING!!!!!! It is truly a celebration of life, cancer survivors, and doing what you thought was impossible. There are no time limits and you will never be the last place finisher. Sally Edwards who organizes the races is the designated last place finisher. The crowds go absolutely crazy when they see the final people coming in - it is just awesome!!!!

I actually volunteered at the Danskin 3 years ago, did it 2 years ago, and watched last year as my little one was 6 weeks old at the time. The date is posted on Danskin.com - it is always Mother's Day (May 11 this year). The distances for Disney are pretty short - 400 yrd swim in seven seas lagoon (in front of the Contemporary), 9 miles on the bike, and 2 mile run or walk through the Magic Kingdom. Past participants are supposed to get an e-mail when registration is opening - it fills up FAST. There are a few of the WISHers doing it... don't you want to join us??? :thumbsup2

Sorry this has been way :offtopic: back to the thread... :rolleyes1

Lynnda Thanks for your response. We are practically neighbors. I'm in Indialantic. Wow!! It really is a small world after all. (Sorry couldn't resist.)

I got chilld when reading about the Danskin. Sounds like such a great event. I actually am a cancer survivor -- lymphoma. I was diagnosed 20 years ago this May. Hmmmm.... I wonder if I could talk my dh into it. I could tell him it'll be my mother's day gift.

Thanks so much for the reply. I am definitely going to try to find a way to do this.

And just to keep this kind of on topic..... Are you kind of saying that the 15 minute per mile pace is something I don't really need to be too concerned with?

Eva - I can't believe how close we are! And huge CONGRATULATIONS on being a survivor!!!!! The Danskin would be a wonderful Mother's Day gift!!!

I wouldn't say not to be concerned with the 15 minute pace. I think I was more like a 16 minute pace when I did it 2 years ago. However, at this year's half and full, they seemed to be a little more strict on the sweeping. I know compared to 2 years ago, there were alot more checkpoints. So, I'm not sure how that will translate to the Minnie. We can do this, though! I found that training for the endurance in the Minnie helped me alot for the Danskin. If I remember right, each week I did a shorter walk/run 2 days, bike 1 day, and swim 1 or 2 days, then on Saturday I alternated between a long walk/run or a "brick" - 2 activities back-to-back.

I hope that helps - feel free to PM if you have any questions or if you want to do some training together sometime! :goodvibes

Hey, I second the opinion that Minnie and Danskin can be done in the same year -- I did them both one year (doing Danskin as a relay) and the next year drove to FL one weekend for the Danskin (my one and only complete tri) and drove to Cincy OH the next for the Flying Pig Half.

Here's the thread where we discussed it last year (with photos), which includes a link to my race report. Have a blast!

OMG! DH & I are so in!

I hate running. I only run because I've just completed 2/3 of a triathlon and I have to get to the finish line somehow. But THIS I can do. And since they canceled the WDW In-line Marathon, this may be my only chance for a Disney medal. DH runs marathons, so we never get to race together.

I'm going to send a e-mail...I wonder is the 1-day tickets have an expiration date. We have APs this year, so I sure wish there was way to nock $40/each off the race price. I think if enough people ask, they may come up with a way to work around it before registration opens on 2/15.

DH and I soooo want to do this! We're still new to the whole running (or in my case walk/jog) thing but are excited and starting training. Doing the 5K in March, want to do ToT this year (date we got at the expo was 10/25) and already signed up for the 1/2 in Jan 2009.

We also have APs so would be nice if they could either knock $40 off or if the tickets don't have an expiration date can at least use them later. Think I'll send off an email on that too.

I have a question.......why can I NOT find any info about the Tower of Terror 13K on Disney's Endurance website anymore? Did they swap it out for the Everest Expedition? Interesting......
