Did you see this!!!!

Alisha-
YES YOU CAN!! 5K is just over 3 miles and that will be easily attainable in 7 months.

Funny how it is little things like that that can get you motivated. I wasn't motivated to run at all until the ToT race last year and I had a ball!

Go for it!

I know this may not be the right place to ask this, but here goes.

I saw this a few days ago and I can NOT stop thinking about it. I have never raced, dont even like running. And I keep putting that diet off that I know needs to be done. But I am really excited about this, and thinking maybe this could be some major motivation.

So, I want opinions please. Can a person 100 lbs overweight start walking/training now and be able to do this??

Also very interested in age limit. My DD10 wants to do this, also.

Thanks for any input.

Alisha

You can totally do it! It will be great motivation.
Check out the Couch to 5K program - I think there is a thread on the main board if you want to join a group, or just google it.

I don't run often. I hate running. I'm not overweight, but I have a bad knee and even worse hips. I used C25K to train for the run part of a triathlon. At the very least, you can get to a wog (walk some, jog some) level in 7 months.

Too many DIS races - too little time and $$$$

Inaugural event would be exciting except I was disappointed with the 'inaugural' TOT. I don't think the t-shirts were dated and neither were the tech shirts. I think the only thing dated was the medal (???) but not even too sure of that (even thought I should just RUN upstairs and go look).

I agree with you on the too many DIS races and not enough $$ or time!!

As far as the dates on the TOT stuff the only thing that has the actual date on it was the hat (of course I had to get the hat, the tech shirt and the photo frame) The medal and the photo frame say Inaugural but not the date (the hat has both - the date and Inaugural)Sorry the medal did say the date on it - I was going off memory - just looked at it this AM - medal has date

HTH

Thanks soooo much for the encouragement! :goodvibes I just know my family will think I am crazy, but thats ok, cuz I am crazy about all things disney!
And if this is what it takes to motivate me, then at least something did.
I really want to do this.

I will check out the couch thread, and be hanging out on the Wish board more.

Thanks again

Alisha

I was over 300 lbs when I did the Tower of Terror 6.5k in October. It was hard but all I focused on was finishing and I did. I wasn't last either. We are doing this race also. I know that you can do it! If you want, you can PM me and I will be your buddy to help you get ready for this event. I have lost about 26 lbs since doing the TOT and plan on losing a lot more before this race.
Annette :cheer2:

Congrats on finishing the TOT Annette. And congrats on the weight loss. That is wonderful.

We registered last night for the EE. I'm not sure what we will do with park tickets since we have AP and the tickets are only good for a short time.

Congrats to Annette on the weights loss and the ToT 6.5K!!!

Welcome to those that are new!!!

It's official DH and I are signed up. Mom and Dad too. Mom and DH tried to keep a secret and signed us all up back the day it opened but DH broke over the weekend LOL

Looking forward to it. Even the parents are eager for the weather to get better so they can get out and get miles in

Hope every one is able to get in some training time this weekend!!!
